Find An Emergency Vet
Pet Care Advice
Customer Hub
Pet emergencies can happen at any time – including when your regular vet is closed.
That’s why our nationwide network of out-of-hours pet emergency clinics are open through the night, at weekends and on bank holidays, so we’re ready and waiting to provide expert pet emergency care when your regular vet is having some time off.
Our pet emergency clinics are the pet equivalent of A&E and our purpose is to give you and your pet the care and support you deserve, at the time you need it most, whether it’s four in the morning or in the middle of Sunday lunch.
Vets Now provides this trusted service to more than 1000 veterinary practices across the UK — from over 60 dedicated out-of-hours clinics and two 24/7 pet emergency hospitals. In total, we treat around 200,000 small animals every year — our highly-skilled team works hard throughout the night, weekends and Bank Holidays. So whether you’re in Aberdeen, Belfast or Portsmouth we’re there for you and your pet when you need us most.
We’ve also pioneered other ways to help pets, pet owners and the veterinary profession, such as our comprehensive referrals service and providing our staff with industry-leading training and development opportunities. We also support the pet blood transfusion charity, Pet Blood Bank UK. Meanwhile, our two hospitals — in Glasgow and Manchester — are home to some of the UK’s leading specialists in the field of emergency and critical care and provide care 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

We were seen very quickly. The vet we saw was absolutely lovely. Very professional and had alot of empathy for my dog who was in alot of pain. The only thing that we found abit of a shock was £302.00 to be seen plus treatment costs. On a whole we were happy that my dog was now on a road to recovery.

Have submitted a complaint. The only person I would give 5* to is the vet who did the surgery on our dog. The first vet we saw lacked compassion and care which was during a very upsetting time.

I brought my Cavapoo into the emergency vets as he had hurt his leg. He was crying and holding the paw up to which the vet asked which leg was it 3 times.
He seemed unwilling to examine him and more interested in writing up previous notes. He asked ME if I think we should xray him and seemed the only advise he had was to keep him in a cage for a week.
I asked for an injection for pain relief to which he said no.
When I went back to Vets 4 Pets the next day I was advised he should have had an injection and the painkillers prescribed were not adequate for the pain Rascal was in. He also didn’t let me know if he could take the medication alongside his other pain relief.
The consultation was £320, it’s not the cost that matters but the level of service and care was appalling. I then spent another £90 less than 12 hours later at Vets4Pets.

Unfortunately we had to have our pet put to sleep over the bank holiday due to a long term illness. The lack of compassion from the vet was very distressing in an already difficult time. Would not recommend.
Edited to add that when I wrote a more detailed email I was advised this couldn’t be accepted until my husband confirmed it was ok for me to advise them of poor practise, apparently this was due to GDPR. Once confirming this, I haven’t received any response, or indication of a timeframe for one. I also went to pick up my ashes today and as this was a PDSA shared site, found it difficult to retrieve, despite being advised to collect any time. Awful experience.

Staff are lovely and treated my dog with the utmost kindness and care. My only issue is the cost of treatment, while emergency treatment will always be more expensive and I understand that, it is an eye watering amount when insurance has refused to pay out anymore. There needs to be more options for how to pay as the only other choice is to watch your pet suffer which is not a choice I would ever want to make.

Having taken our 13 year old Westie to VetsNow on Sunday 25th January 2026 with a swallowing/blockage issue, we were advised by the duty vet, who was very thorough & reassuring, that he needed to be rehydrated overnight. As promised, she called us at 8pm that day at the end of her shift to say that he was stable & comfortable, and that if anything should change during the night that we would be contacted by the overnight staff. His bloods had been taken & temperature was normal, and yet he continued to show problems with swallowing & drinking & keeping down water. We were advised that bloods would be taken again in the morning prior to us collecting him. When we arrived at 7.30am on Monday 26th January 2026, his condition had deteriorated, and he didn't even acknowledge our presence. We were told that his temperature had spiked during the night, but we were not contacted & no action was taken. Furthermore, bloods had not been taken, with the excuse that it had not been possible to take them, despite him being rehydrated over night. No antibiotics had been administered as a result of the temperature spike. Once we reached our regular vet we were told that he had developed pneumonia. He continued to deteriorate, and later that day we were advised that there was nothing that could be done & we had to make the painfully devastating decision to have him put to sleep. We feel that he was failed miserably by the staff in charge of his overnight care at VetsNow, Sheffield.

Prompt out of hours service, kind and considerate with my Labrador who was in considerable pain.
Thank you.

They were thorough in their examination but he underwent surgery and I think we could have been updated a bit sooner rather than having to keep calling the centre. I also thought that the cost of the consultation was expensive but something that had to be paid by a worried owner.

Friendly person John who answered my call.
Reception staff not so friendly and we felt the vet didn’t really tell us anything that we didn’t already know.
We also felt we had to pay a lot of money for the service.

We had to rush our poodle to vets now in the early hours after she was struggling to give birth. Sinawo, the vet, was our angel from above and helped her safely deliver the poodles without having to have a c section. I cannot thank her enough for looking after our poodle . We are eternally grateful Sinawo

I was concerned about my dog after he could not stand, fell over when walking in the house 3-4 times, was sick several times and his head had sudden shakes at midnight. I was worried he was having a stroke or similar. I was advise this could be bad to bring him in now. It turned out my dog had eaten a cloth which he vomited up giving him a shock. All of these symptoms where from this. It was scary to watch my dog this way and quite upsetting. The receptionist was lovely and helpful but the vet was standoffish, abrupt and made me feel stupid. She told us of for the dog walking in an area she didn't want him in but it was not barriered off. Made me hold his head as she didn't want bit, not that he would off and she had never met him before so why did she think he would. Told us it was down to the cloth and in future don't let him get them, like I did it on purpose! She spoke to me and my son like we were children. The only advise was take him home, helpful. All at the cost of £302.50 for less than 10 minutes.

We were seen by vet Anna, and I can not praise her enough. Wish she was everyone's vet. I had to take my dog to the emmergency vets on a Sunday and turned out she had pyometra. Anna was so good at explaining everything and i got to see the scans. Absolutely fantastic experience in a time of worry.
