I wouldn't even give 1 star...
This provider is absolutely garbage. Not only do they steal from you, they don't have a proper costumer service phone set up and you can never get ahold of any real agent. If you are lucky enough to get to speak with a human they are rude, and can't do anything so they transfer you to another department... 17 times. This is a debit card for our disabled, and veterans whom receive GOVERNMENT benefits, and they are given such useless management for what most of them use with there only means of income. please please please save yourself the time money and hassle just have your benefits direct deposited into a bank account.

Well for starters customer service…

Well for starters customer service sucks. Either y'all need to hire workers or fire everyone who isn't. I have been on hold 57 minutes with no apologies. This is the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I'm glad I'm not the one using this card. And I'm calling on the behalf of someone else... Direct Express you need to do better. Unless this is your plan, to have a unsuccessful business.

Screw the world

You won't f****** crappy let me write the review it just should be there for me to put it on there right awayI guess I have to call it the ignored poets society that Taylor Swift completely ignores me doesn't even know I exist and that I need her help I need Travis's help too so if they could both help me that would be great but they don't even know I exist probably going to one don't even want to listen to the abusive story that's going on half a century now Direct Express just recently is hijacked my social security payments for June and July of this year 2025 and even though social security cut them off now to receive my direct deposits any longer and could only counter by giving me my August payment in a check without realizing none of them realizing all of them that without a picture ID I can't cash the check so I can't pay my bills so everything is going to get locked out I'm not going to be able to get to my possessions in time and they'll auction everything off this is not free America this is evil America we're only rich people want to be seen in the news media and I never get seen in this video on the dirt lot I am living on right now I don't have NBC CBS ABC watching how terrible my life is and what your society all yours it has never been mine has done to me for half a century and right across the street I see my storages where I'm going to lose three of my storages because nobody cares to listen to my story which is a true story of being abused for half a century and right now being abused by Direct Express and Comerica Bank and are being abused by the FBI through negligence by not following through on my complaint to them that they have committed a felony by holding back my social security payments and not responding to my pain in agony but I was holding my money like that they know I lost my wallet so I takes me time to get any kind of picture ID and by the time I do get it in the mail all my stuff will be gone 3/8x20 storages gone another one a few a mile or so away that's going to be auctioned off anytime now because no one wants to help me no one even knows I exist I see other people's viral things go on the internet that mine won't go viral because the government is behind it they are suppressing me they don't want to look embarrassed neither Los Angeles City doesn't want to look embarrassed even though they are evil cruel people so is Trump Bush Obama Clinton all you people are evil I wish a huge meteor asteroid would come and just wipe out the Earth and I could live long enough to watch you all suffer the way you're making me suffer.

To Whom It May Concern,

Let me begin by saying this: I am beyond disgusted with the appalling, incompetent, and utterly ridiculous way Direct Express has handled my account. For over five months, you have had the audacity to hold MY money hostage, making me jump through endless hoops, answer nonsensical and invasive questions, and endure the absolute worst customer service I’ve ever experienced in my life. And that’s saying something.

You are supposed to be a financial service. The bare minimum expectation is that you allow your customers access to THEIR funds. But somehow, you have managed to fail so epically at that basic function, I have to wonder: is this incompetence, or deliberate negligence? Because at this point, it certainly feels like theft.

Every time I’ve called, I’ve been passed around like a hot potato, told conflicting stories, asked the same absurd questions over and over again, and ultimately hung up on or left with no answers. What kind of operation are you running? Why are your representatives so clueless, unhelpful, and borderline robotic? No one can ever give a clear reason why my account is locked, why my money is frozen, or what you're actually doing to resolve anything.

And let’s talk about the “questions.” Are you seriously asking people to submit irrelevant paperwork, verify outdated or incorrect information, or prove their identity three, four, five times over? What game are you playing? Why are your security checks so unreasonably invasive and redundant when YOU already have my social, my ID, and my full verification history on file?

I’m done being patient. I’m done being polite. You have failed me, disrespected me, and robbed me of MONTHS of financial stability. This money isn’t a luxury. It’s not a bonus. It’s MY livelihood, and your gross mishandling of my account has caused me real emotional and financial damage. I’ve missed bills, been late on rent, and gone without basic necessities while my own funds sit in your greedy, locked-down system.

You are playing games with people’s lives, and it is absolutely unacceptable.

I demand that my funds be released IMMEDIATELY and that I receive a full explanation in writing of why this situation was allowed to drag on for so long. If you are unable or unwilling to fix this, believe me, I will escalate this complaint to every level imaginable – including the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, the Better Business Bureau , my state’s Attorney General, and every social platform where others need to be warned about your shady and unethical practices.

This isn’t just bad customer service. It’s borderline criminal.

Fix it. Now.

I reported card lost on 3rd of this…

I reported card lost on 3rd of this month. It is now the 18th and these ass hats have failed to send out replacement card. Social security retirement is handled thru this card. I have not had access to money or making bill payments in this time. I have called every day for past week and been told to tough it out, it's coming. What a crock of poo. Now I've asked to have a card "expedited" because I cannot wait any longer. This slipshod organization is now extracting $17.60 from acct to make me wait another week for my funds! The lack of concern for my plight for what they've done is appalling. No fault of my own and being charged for someone else's incompetence doesn't sit right ya know? Comerica bank is administering this mess and is of no help either. Being late paying bills and penalties as well, no groceries, gasoline, and no Uber. Customer service is not a priority and is a misnomer. Had to vent, sorry for rambling but if you can avoid this company, do so.

Authorized Through By Government Officials, DirectExpress.com Has Put A Fraud Suspension On People Accounts, Is An Attempt To Steal People Money!

usdirectexpress.com already know who I am, and I know they are planning to steal my money, and this fraud were authorized through by the government and the balance in my account as of today 6-10-2025 is $18.97 and I have spoken with customer service on June 5 and 6 of 2025 I'm aware Direct Express are attempting and are planning on to steal and have stolen funds from people's credit card, and this is a violation of the law and Direct Express is breaking the law and have violated people rights and think they can just get away with these crimes, without consequences and people can do nothing about it, this is where Direct Express is wrong and there is a higher law above them over man. And I hope this matter can be resolved without further action being taken against Direct Express and request for this fraud suspension to be lift and removed from my account and username on this account is Mrs. LBW.

People from all around the world are experiencing the same problem with Direct Express and have file complaints and you can see from consumer complaint reports, people had fraud suspension place on their Direct Express credit card accounts on different dates and months, and year and Direct Express story didn't

seem to add up what they were telling me, because if the fraud suspension was already there in place on people credit card accounts from the time when Direct Express credit card was first issue by Comerica Bank how could people was still able to have access using money from their credit card, if the card was lock are block and

how could people's money be stolen from their credit cards, if their card was locked, are blocked. And this is a violation of the law placing a fraud suspension on people credit card accounts, if the account is not suspected with fraudulent activity and preventing people from accessing their funds and what reason and purpose did

Direct Express place a fraud suspension on people accounts, if there is no fraudulent activity involved, and the only time when a business can place a security alert are freeze on a person accounts, if they suspect any kind of fraudulent activity and if they suspect fraudulent activity on a person account, they are supposed to

inform the person about it through email are phone and the person have the right to request a copy of their credit card statement showing when and where this activity occurred on what dates and month and year and why didn't Direct Express contacted people and informed them, if they suspected fraudulent activity on their

accounts and why have Direct Express place a fraud suspension on people Direct Express credit card accounts, if they didn't suspect fraudulent activity was involved and Direct Express and government officials is breaking the law and are authorizing this on their behalf and have place a fraud suspension on people accounts not

involving fraudulent activity and are preventing people from accessing their funds has nothing to do with fraudulent activity involved and each time when I was attempting to ask the second and third representative, why does this fraud suspension still remains on my account, if the account is not involving fraudulent

activity and Direct Express did not want to answer my question and hung the phone up on me, and I contacted Direct Express customer service the fourth and fifth time and requested I would like to file a dispute and speak to the supervisor, and I was left on the phone for hours waiting to speak to a supervisor and after a long wait my

call was direct to a supervisor and when I was attempting to explain to her regarding this issue, the supervisor hangs the phone up on me. and Direct Express and government officials are the one themselves who wants to steal people money, has nothing to do

with fraudulent activity, Direct Express is attempting and have stolen people money from their credit card, and they know this is a fraudulent crime being committed and they are telling people their credit card is under fraud suspension, is an attempt to steal people money, the whole company is a fraudulent business corporation and

people money is not safe and Direct Express think people do not know and is stupid, it is them who want to steal people money, because people do not know the real truth what this is really about, has to do with what was written here centuries ago, and for more details please check out page links, for further details.

Thieves

After multiple calls, and waiting on hold for hours, and not for the first time, I finally got a decent human on the phone, who could see the many double charges from Walmart, and sent me a claim form. I filled out and emailed the claim form and proof the day I got it. I snail mailed it the next day. They only give you ten days, and I did this within the time frame. According to their rules I should have been credited while they processed this. They sent a denial two days before the ten days were up and before they would have been able to process my case. They falsely claimed there was no error even though I was double charged over 400 dollars. They didn't wait the ten days, didn't wait for my claim nor look at my proof. I was thinking it was an error and could finally be resolved. They are right. It is not an error. It is theft and they are guilty. Update this happened again. I saw double charges on my direct express transaction history in 2026 and they will not resolve it. Edit they finally sent me paper statements going back to the beginning of my account and it adds up on paper so it is the web site that is so inaccurate that it appears to double charge me and never adds up. I also falsely accused others of double charges and it is the direct express customer account transaction history that is wrong. This could have been resolved in 2024.

Direct Express lock my card I could not receive any money out I'm on social security disability I got charged late fees because I couldn't access my money when I call them they gave me the runaround. Was told that they would send me out a new card they charged me $17 for the card after the man told me that I would receive the refund for the card I later found out that I would not receive the refund so basically I had to pay $17.50 for a mistake on their part that they could not resolve this is absolutely the worst bank and if you deal with them you really need to take your money out because no one's there has knowledge of what's going on and they are rude and they are unhelpful.

Still on Hold

I am Literally on hold right now for 24 minutes and counting while Shaking with anger ! I do Not and Never had your card and I had never heard of it. I Googled it While holding and yeah ,Who are you and why do you have Any info on me. 44 minutes in she answers. Talks over me and hangs up!!

I just had the worst experience with…

I just had the worst experience with any type of business I've ever had in my life. That's quite a statement because I'm 67 years old. I literally spent three days trying to get a hold of these people. They say they're going to call you back they don't and then when you call them they say well we're calling you back. Not only are these people incompetent they're arrogant. For a long time they were a good company but these days they are a waste of space. They function even worse than the government. Take your business elsewhere because they will mess you up and not give a damn.

Horrible treatment of disabled people

I got married so I called to get a replacement card reflecting my new legal name. They immediately locked my card to verify who I am. I sent in 4 forms of ID. My card has been locked for two weeks. I have no access to this month's funds. Today they told me they will not send me a new card. They said they will not do business with me and told me to call social security to set up a direct deposit bank account. The will keep my funds on lock until this whole new process starts. I may not even get next month's pay on time. All for asking to change my personal information to have an accurate account with them. One customer service guy strongly implied that the company wouldn't keep me locked out if there wasn't something going on. All I did was get married. That's not suspicious. I can't believe social security deals with this crooked card company.

My brother is having such a hard also…

My brother is having such a hard also validating ID that was sent exactly as they requested. Reply will be we are have trouble verify you go to social security and they already have same info. You cannot access your funds. Now we found out that his card was hacked and direct express let someone take 2200 dollars out of his account and my brother cannot even get 1 dollar out. Stop do not use them! Now on the verge of being homeless also.

Warning Direct gets your money provides…

Warning Direct gets your money provides you a card but purchases keep being declined. direct express blames this on master card here I sit with money available and need to make purchases and unable to do so Social Security needs to find a different company to handle payable benefits better I've tried to transfer funds to other institutions and have been unable to do so. You would think a company like Direct Express who receives most likely millions a month from Social Security could provide better service and options. Better off just to get a check in the mail so far this service has been useless and frustrating.
