I had an issue with a customer who owed me money. This person took all information about themselves off all social media platforms and I assume paid to keep themselves off the open electoral roll. This person had online business presence but the business address and landline were both false. This person seemed to disappear from 2017 from all the search engines I could find online so after many frustrating hours over several days I decided to use UKPI. I filled in a very simple form at 11.48am and had all the information I required at 5.33pm the same day. I would certainly recommend this company for their professionalism, speed of results and in my opinion a fair price. I would certainly use this company again and highly recommend.

Where other agents have failed, Tim's company managed to dig deep and come up with a successful address match within hours. Other agencies have taken months without results. I thoroughly recommend UK Private Investigators and the personal touch which Tim brings to his business. Thanks once again Tim!

I acknowledge your response but stand by my original review, which reflects my personal experience. Trustpilot has reviewed and confirmed that my comments comply with their guidelines and are not defamatory.

I found the personal remarks in your reply, such as ‘Some people just want to see the world burn,’ to be unprofessional and not conducive to constructive dialogue.

Despite my providing comprehensive information upfront, the report you delivered lacked new insights and did not meet the expectations set during our initial discussions.

To clarify, at no point did I request or expect UKPI to engage in illegal activities, including unauthorised access to private social media accounts. My request was for a comprehensive background check using publicly available sources. Any suggestion to the contrary misrepresents my intentions.

I hope this feedback is taken constructively and leads to improvements in your service delivery.

My original feedback:

I paid £315 to UK Private Investigators for an Enhanced Background Check, which they advertised as including current address, employment history, social media presence, and professional capabilities. I provided them with a comprehensive verbal briefing, a background pack up front, including Companies House data, known addresses, and context. I even did a follow up call with them to highlight my specific request for social media investigation.
The report I received was late, padded, and regurgitated my own material — with no meaningful analysis or new information. It failed to verify employment, listed my own property as the subject’s “current address” (despite the person having vacated it), and missed a company I had already flagged. It included no social media content or digital footprint work.
When I raised concerns, I received an aggressive and dismissive legal-style email claiming all expectations were “irrelevant in law” and trying to reframe this as mere “disappointment.” No refund was offered, just vague promises of more unspecified checks.
Upon researching further, I discovered that other clients have reported similar issues with this firm, including unprofessional conduct and failure to deliver promised services. These patterns suggest that my experience was not an isolated incident.
A deeply unprofessional service.

I received outstanding service, with same-day results and exactly what I requested. Tim is excellent, and I cannot recommend him highly enough. I am delighted with the service and would gladly recommend UKPI to others. Additionally, their prices are far more competitive than others. I’m so pleased I chose UKPI.

In the past, I had used two other companies, Stonebridge Investigations and Rosewood Investigations. Both made numerous promises, charged three times the amount, and only after several weeks of waiting and me following up multiple times, did they finally provide a report that was ultimately useless, at best, a basic online search, filled mainly with information I provided and their T&C's, lesson definitely learnt.

Excellent and quick service in just few hours by Tim. Words are not enough to express my gratitude. They are very sincere and committed, Punctual and excellent service with return calls.

After having a child outside of our marriage, my (soon to be) ex husband went into hiding for 5 years, with the intention and hope that if I couldn’t find him, I couldn’t divorce him. Absolutely no friends or relatives knew where he was.

I found UK Private Investigators and in less than 24 hours I was given his three Mobil telephone numbers and his address. I was able to proceed with the divorce. I am very grateful to the team at UK Private Investigators.

Went in with high expectations of locating a debtor. The investigation team gave an address I knew to be incorrect and was dated from 2018. I knew this to be incorrect for a variety of reasons, being they lived in my property for over a year after this, and they lived in 2 other prior properties not at this address both of which were not close to this property. This could only have been a very old address whilst the person was still in Uni.
I attended the property given in any case to which I was met with a different person. I told the investigation team, and they asked me to show proof - the only thing they would accept was a photo of the wrong person at the property... seriously, talk about intrusive, something I could not do.
Knowing what I knew about the debtor I located the property at which my debtor resided and I saw them leave the property on multiple and spoke to them in person.
I requested a refund from the investigation given they provided wrong information and they told me to provide the exact address of the person. Again, without entering the building and trespassing, knocking on every door and/or asking the debtor for this and for them to actually provide this, this is not possible.
For anyone looking to use these guys, they will not admit when they have no up to date information, rely on utility bills (which can be left at properties for many years, just see how many letter you get for previous residents at your own property) and push the burden of proof back to you in order to prove they are wrong.... often meaning you would have to do some rather sketchy, possibly illegal activities.
EDIT: in response it is quite interesting how much this company lies. They did ask me to provide photographic evidence of the person not living at the property, and I have the email trail to prove it. The person does not live at the address as they directed me to prove it. The question is, how is this possible for a civilian to prove. The terms and conditions they set out use an ambiguous term 'verifiable evidence'. This is intentionally not defined so they can use to discredit any evidence. My evidence included going to the address they provided, taking a photo of the front door to show I visited. Giving them evidence of visiting the other building, showing them photos which were sent to me from the debtor which matched the other address and providing them with photos of me at that other property where I saw the debtor. All of which were not 'verifiable'. They wanted the full address of the debtor, which I clearly cannot provide. Also, as they cannot locate this person at the other address providing them with such information would be useless as they would not be able to 'verify', as they claim.

Like I repeat to them, they asking me to do their job which they failed. And they try to bully you by discrediting you. They provided an old address from 2018 and still claimed this to be accurate when the person had lived with me for 2 years from 2021/22, the did not even come up with that address.

I implore anyone else to not use these guys as when they are wrong they cannot accept it, and push you to come up with evidence you cannot provide legally.

Finally to add that the debtor does live at the building I have given them. This person has been seen to come out of that property on multiple occasions. The person is also known to not have any credit nor pay bills at that address, so the PI's desktop checking, which seemingly amounts to electoral roll and Credit Reference checks will not show this up. And hence they continue to claim she does not LIVE there. Living at property and not having credit at a property are concepts these guys do not seem to comprehend. If they visited the address they gave me, like I was forced to, then they would very quickly establish they are wrong.
