A jazz afternoon tea at Tylney Hall

Two wonderful musicians and great food. Whilst jazz isn't my favourite style of music the two guys were brilliant and they played some greats from Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Nina Simone to Duke Ellington. The setting and the music was wonderful and the food and service of the highest standard. Highly recommended and hope to return soon.

Terrible

I was given voucher for afternoon tea at Tylney Hall I called up hotel as online booking not working and was told not sure can use it as valintine day she checked said it’s okay took all the codes and confirmed booking received email next day saying they could not honour that booking I need pay full price to keep booking and then use gift another day mon to thurs .on the day I paid full pre plus service charge £100.13 pence then next day buyagift asked me for review so the Tylney Hall had submitted the voucher as well as me paying.either fraudulent or incompetent
I called Monday as for refund they said had no record of payment so I sent screenshot of my card and payment they still wouldn’t refund as I used Apple Pay wanted me accept another voucher but as the scones were cold doughy and I sent back twice didn’t want to come again I eventually got £62.25 back representing money they get from buyagift I think this is bad after 3 admin errors from them and hassle for me very shortsighted in business terms which I warned them and gave them opportunity to resolve it fairly which they ignored so my advice don’t use buyagift there and don’t go for afternoon tea there lovely venue but poor product

Excellent food and excellent service

My wife and myself regularly eat in The Oak Room restaurant at Tylney Hall Hotel in Hampshire. Our last time there was for lunch just before Christmas. The staff were excellent and the food delicious. The service was without fault and the range of food in terms of menu items and food selection really first class. I cannot rate Tylney Hall’s Oak Room restaurant highly enough and would definitely recommend a visit. The location is second to none in a very quiet and peaceful Hampshire location with an amazing approach and beautiful gardens too.The staff are absolutely superb and the executive chef Mike Lloyd and his team getting better on each visit. Sam Aziz the General Manager together with his team produce and execute a really enjoyable experience.

Tylney Hall Hotel

Up to a few years ago we used to visit Tylney Hall quite regularly. And used to enjoy our stay the staff were happy and friendly at this time the hotel was run by a fine woman named Ms. Mooney who ran the hotel excellently. Also at that time we used to go to the lounge in the evening for cocktails and she would often circulate and talk to her guests. Drinks were ordered and nibbles were bought to your seats. The menu was given orders were taken and when your starter was ready you were escorted into the restaurant. When the main course was served the staff attended and the closhes were taken off all together. The breakfasts were fabulous there was a huge buffet and also table service. Coming forward to Oct/Nov 23 we decided to go there for our 50th Wedding Anniversary Reception was still quiet friendly and after saying we will have a spot of lunch they receptionist said no problem. The lounge was quiet busy but we took a table and ordered a sandwich some chips and drinks the drinks came quiet quickly but the food came about 30 minutes later minus the chips. I asked where they were and the server said he forgot to put the order in. But he would go and get them N/C I said okay. I also noticed that all the tables around us had tablecloths but not ours. My son and his partner were also with us, and they had there dog with them which was aloud but they were not told that the dog would not be aloud into the main building, and their room would be a fare distance from the main building so every time they came for breakfast or dinner they had to put her in her cage. The restaurant in the evening lacked atmosphere and the menu lacked imagination and was boring. The second night the menu was the same, and we were told that it only changed four times a year. The breakfasts were okay the buffet just consisted of cereal juices and cheese, but the table service was okayI had a couple of Spa Treatments, the first was a massage which was okay the Pedicure I had was a disaster and done by an inexperienced operative . Unfortunately I had a very bad cold and after going to our room on the second night we asked for a couple of oranges so my wife could make me a hot toddy. They bought them with a chitty for £6:00 which I refused to sign but they charged us anyway. The hotel needs complete refurbishment, as the lounges looked very worn and some of the furniture was fraying. If Ms Mooney came back from Spain And saw the state of the place she would be quiet upset. Would I return to Tylney Hall ? I don’t think so.

Tylney Hall is one of the most elegant…

Tylney Hall is one of the most elegant hotels in Hampshire. Beautiful gardens and exceptional staff. However this review is about the restaurant. I used to take friends there for a treat lunch or tea. I am sorry to say that the restaurant is a shadow of it's former self. The menu was very disappointing and the quality of the ingredients not much better than a bistro. It is now in urgent need for a radical menu review.
