The food is deplorable and the stopover doesn’t include transportation to the hotel so can be quite expensive

The food is deplorable! I don’t eat meat or eggs so for every meal on each leg of my trip I was given curry ! Curry 9am curry at 1am curry curry curry 🤢 there was a side side “salad” that was taken straight if the freezer the cheese was ice cold and rock hard, lettuce the same, absolutely disgraceful and the little sandwich they came around with left a lot to be desired, really poor quality the airline doesn’t even try to have high standards. Very inconsistent..
my stopover was for two nights and you get asked to choose what hotel you would like to stay in, never did I think I would have to pay 100 euro in taxis to get there. You would imagine that a shuttle would be provided considering the airline offer this stopover program.

“From Premium Airline to Disappointing Mediocrity

Until a few years ago, Turkish Airlines was, in my opinion, one of the few airlines that still combined efficiency, comfort and genuine hospitality. After my recent Venice–Istanbul–Bishkek round trip, that image has been seriously damaged.
What I experienced was not an isolated inconvenience, but the clear impression of a company progressively lowering its service standards while continuing to charge premium prices.
The cabin crew was not openly rude, but distant, inattentive and surprisingly unhelpful. On one flight, a flight attendant kept chatting while I was visibly struggling with my cabin baggage. I am an older passenger and visibly physically disabled, yet no assistance was spontaneously offered. I eventually had to interrupt the crew’s conversation and explicitly ask for help myself. This may seem like a small detail, yet it says a great deal about the overall attitude on board.
The most unacceptable issue concerned the lavatories. During one of the six-hour flights, one toilet was already out of service and another appeared blocked or not properly activated for a significant part of the journey, apparently without the crew even noticing. In fact, I personally had to interrupt the flight attendants’ conversation to inform them that the lavatory was unusable. The result was that nearly 200 passengers were effectively left with a single functioning lavatory for hours. This is simply unacceptable for an airline that still presents itself as a premium international carrier.
Equally disappointing was the complete lack of attention to passengers’ basic comfort during the flight. Outside meal service, no regular water or beverage rounds were offered for the entire six hours. If passengers were thirsty, they had to walk to the galley and ask for water themselves. On a long-haul international flight in 2026, this feels astonishingly poor.
What makes the situation even more difficult to justify is the pricing structure. Turkish Airlines offers no real premium economy option, while business class fares are often several times higher than economy, without an equivalent perception of superior overall quality.
The painful impression is that of an airline increasingly moving toward low-cost standards while still charging full-service prices and relying on a reputation built many years ago.
Professionalism in aviation is not only about avoiding rudeness. It is about attention, presence, organization and care for passengers. Unfortunately, throughout this journey, those qualities were largely absent.

Charge extra per flight to sit together!

Paid a lot to fly from Tbilisi to Manchester. Didn't get seats together were told we had tu pay extra for that. Like what? We paid a lot already and we were expected to pay £64 on top to select seats and sit together. I would understand if they are a budget airline like Ryanair but the flights were not cheap. It's just ridiculous to try and get more mieny out of customers this way.
To top it all off, when we did try to pay online it gave us a message to go to the desk before the flight which we did and they were unhelpful and just said 'no it's a full flight'. Perhaps thats the usual Georgian charm but they were unhelpful

If Turkish Airlines has a 1-star rating…

If Turkish Airlines has a 1-star rating on Trustpilot, I'd definitely believe it! Their website is REALLY, REALLY, REALLY bad, almost dysfunctional. I literally spent half the day trying to pay for tickets for myself and my toddler from Prague to Jakarta. When I called customer service, they fed me some nonsense about a flight four months from the day I tried to book being fully booked, even though it appears almost empty online, told me to buy a more expensive rate, and that they will get back to me in an hour. NEVER DID.

0 star

If I could, I would give them 0 stars.
Their customer service seems to exist only to answer the phone. They cannot make decisions or resolve issues themselves. Instead, they have to send an email to headquarters and then you wait… and wait… and wait. No updates, no urgency, and no real support.
Extremely frustrating and stressful experience.

Abysmal Customer Support

Absolutely abysmal attention or care for the customer.

After airline disruptions caused by oil shortages, flights were cancelled abruptly without proper warning (no phone call, just email). I was issued one option for another flight, which was 3AM instead of 3PM which I chose by mistake, but given it was my only option and given the oil shortage I was content to bear with it. However, much better flight times on the same day were provided much later.

I would've accepted anything: a percentage of coverage for the flight change, credit for another flight, literally anything. But no, despite a cancellation of no fault of my own, and despite picking the only worse option available at the time, I now have to pay full price for a flight change. After multiple attempts of appeal I got nothing but what looks like auto-generated responses. Not the call center nor feedback center could help me.

It's not just about money but respect, and taking responsibility, which this airline provided neither. I would've taken any amount of reimbursement or understanding but was given none. Never again will I fly with this company, there are other options.

In January 2026

In January 2026, they lost my suitcase for nearly three weeks and didn’t offer a single euro for essentials. When the bag finally came back, it was in awful condition — misshapen, clothes ruined, items damaged. I filed claims for months and got zero resolution. On top of that, their service quality has dropped massively. Even the food, which used to be decent, is now disappointing and low quality. After this experience, I’m avoiding Turkish Airlines completely.

Promised Rebooking Until 2026, Forced to Go to ADR Instead

After more than 10 years of regularly flying with Turkish Airlines, I have unfortunately reached the point where I actively avoid booking with them and would advise others to think carefully before doing so.

Over the years, I have noticed a significant decline in customer service, while ticket prices have increased substantially. The onboard experience is still generally acceptable, but if you ever encounter a booking, rebooking, or refund issue, be prepared for a very frustrating experience.

My flight to Tabriz was cancelled, and during a recorded call with a Turkish Airlines customer service representative, I was assured that I would be able to rebook my ticket until June 2026. The representative even stated that if the information provided turned out to be incorrect, Turkish Airlines would be responsible for the mistake.

Relying on that assurance, I did not request a refund and instead attempted to arrange a rebooking. However, for the past several months I have been trying to get Turkish Airlines to honour what I was promised. Despite numerous calls and communications, I have been passed from one department to another without any meaningful progress. Every interaction feels like starting from the beginning again.

After months of unsuccessful attempts to resolve the matter directly, I have had no choice but to escalate the case to ADR.

I hope ADR will help bring this matter to a fair conclusion, but this experience has seriously damaged my trust in Turkish Airlines. Unless there is a significant improvement in how customer issues are handled, this will likely be my last flight with them.

Horrendous experience

Horrendous experience, cancellation fees keep increasing over time, even though there is a set fee amount in our ticket details document. My wife has tried 5-6 times to resolve this with customer support and they just say they will escalate it with a feedback form and promise someone will be in touch to resolve this, but we have not been contacted and no one can seem to assist. HOPELESS!!!

Baggage problems

I am writing to express my dissatisfaction regarding my delayed baggage. My baggage has not been delivered for 5 days since my arrival. This delay has caused significant inconvenience. What if someone is traveling just for a small period. Does that mean that they have to go back without their luggage. All the important things are in the baggage so i'm having a hard time now bc of this.

Kept us standing on tarmac for 20 min

Right now as I write this, Turkish airlines crew have kept us standing on the tarmac, by the steps to the plane, at Birmingham airport, for 20 minutes!! No communication as to when the doors will open. And the flight is already 30 minutes late! Terrible terrible customer service!!

Best Airline

I recently flew with Turkish Airlines from Gatwick to Istanbul, and the entire experience was nothing short of exceptional. From check-in to landing, they truly delivered a world-class journey. ✈ The Flight & Cabin Comfort The aircraft was modern, spotlessly clean, and well-maintained. Even in [Economy / Business] class, the seating was incredibly comfortable with generous legroom and adjustable headrests that made the long-haul flight highly relaxing. The blankets, pillows, and amenity kits provided were excellent touches.🍽️ World-Class In-Flight DiningThe food on Turkish Airlines easily beats any other airline I have flown with. The meals were fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Having high-quality catering and a fantastic selection of beverages at 35,000 feet made a massive difference.🎭 Entertainment & ConnectivityThe in-flight entertainment system had a massive, responsive touchscreen with an incredible library of recent blockbuster movies, TV shows, games, and music playlists. Time flew by quickly because there was so much to watch.🌟 Exceptional Service & Turkish HospitalityWhat truly sets this airline apart is its staff. The cabin crew was remarkably professional, attentive, and genuinely warm. They went out of their way to ensure every passenger was comfortable and always served us with a smile. The transit experience at Istanbul Airport was also seamless and highly efficient.Summary:Turkish Airlines has completely won me over. Their consistency in comfort, elite dining, and authentic hospitality makes them my absolute first choice for future international travel. 10/10 highly recommended!

I am very disappointed with Turkish Airlines …

I am very disappointed with Turkish Airlines’ customer service and complaint handling.

During my trip, I experienced multiple issues across two flights. On flight TK0067 (DPS–IST), the armrest at my seat was broken and unstable, and the seat pocket/net was damaged and hanging loose throughout a flight of approximately 13 hours. On flight TK1587 (IST–FRA), the entertainment screen was completely unusable and the tray table was damaged and unstable.

These issues were reported to the cabin crew during the flights. We were told that nothing could be done and that we should submit feedback afterwards.

I provided Turkish Airlines with photos, flight details and a detailed description of the problems. However, throughout the complaint process I received inconsistent responses. First I was told that the complaint could not be evaluated because the issue had allegedly not been reported during the flight. After clarifying that it had been reported, I was informed that investigations found no problems and no records of any malfunction.

What disappointed me most was not only the condition of the equipment, but the way the complaint was handled. Despite providing evidence and repeatedly explaining the situation, my concerns were ultimately dismissed without any meaningful resolution or compensation.

Based on this experience, I expected much better customer service from a major international airline.

0 STARS - WORST EXPERIENCE

0 STARS. Unfortunately, it doesn't go lower than 1 star. The worst experience in my life, which has traumatized me for future flights.
I flew from Europe to South Africa.
For my first flight the plane landed in a different airport (weather) and we were only notified at the boarding gate. We had to take a bus to the other airport which meant that I was going to miss my connecting flights. So I wanted to cancel and rebook the trip but I was then told if I didn't take that flight I would lose my entire booking, which I later learned was a LIE. So that meant that I would land in Turkey after my connecting flight and I would have to wait at the airport for over 12hrs for the next flight. Due to the fault of the airport, airline and moving passengers from 1 airport to another, security checks took longer for all flights. And guess what.... the plane then left, leaving 15 passengers behind. Of course everyone was furious and insisted they rebook us. That meant flying the next morning, waiting 8 hrs in Turkey with a new connecting flight to Doha making my trip even longer. They also rebooked my connection with a different airline, and lost my luggage because it wasn't transferred to the other airline. I got my bags 4 days later.
In Turkey they refused us access to the lounge to rest because our delay at the airport was 8hrs and not 12hrs.
My intial flight was Europe-Turkey-Jhb&Dbn. Leave Thursday and Arrive Friday.
Instead I flew Europe-Turkey-Doha(Qatar)-Jhb&Dbn. I left my home on Thursday and reached S.A. on Saturday, 24hrs later than I was supposed to.
After contacting them for compensation for what they put me through they refused and blamed it on the weather (which was predictable especially for that airport at that time of year). Do yourself a favour, pay extra for a more reliable/honest airline. Everyone I've spoken to has complained about TURKISH AIRLINES TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I will NEVER FLY with Turkish Airlines again, I will NEVER RECOMMEND them to anyone and I will make sure I share my experience with as many people as possible so that no one has to go through what I did.

Compensation approved, yet the claim remains unresolved

My original itinerary was Geneva–Istanbul–Tokyo. On 6 May 2026, flight TK1920 between Geneva and Istanbul was cancelled due to a technical issue while passengers were already on board the aircraft. This cancellation caused a significant delay to the entire journey to Tokyo.

Turkish Airlines acknowledged the cancellation and confirmed that compensation of EUR 600 per affected passenger was applicable.

Three passengers were travelling under the same booking reference. After several weeks of exchanges, Turkish Airlines approved compensation for two passengers but continues to delay the processing of the third passenger's claim through repeated administrative requirements and contradictory instructions.

The online claims portal no longer allows a new claim to be submitted because the reservation is considered completed, while customer service continues to direct us back to the same portal. Depending on the department and communication channel used, different answers are provided, making the resolution of the matter unnecessarily difficult.

In addition, EUR 492 was paid for seat selection and Extra Legroom services for three passengers on the Istanbul–Tokyo and Tokyo–Istanbul flights. Following the travel disruption, these services were not provided. Turkish Airlines acknowledged that reimbursement was due, yet only a partial refund has been processed and repeated requests for clarification remain unanswered.

The issue is no longer the flight cancellation itself. The issue is the handling of legitimate claims: repeated procedural obstacles, incomplete responses, unexplained partial reimbursements and an excessive administrative burden placed on the customer to obtain what Turkish Airlines has already acknowledged is owed.

At this stage, I am seriously considering referring the matter to the relevant passenger rights authority.

Dreadful Airline - Avoid at all costs as you’ll bear the cost!

Given their marketing hype, I have long considered using Turkish Airlines (TA) and once they commenced flights in Australia this became more interesting/appealing. I did book flights with TA and every experience and interaction with them has been a dreadful, money -grabbing waste of time. I’ve just lost all the money paid for all of my TA flights - I will NEVER book with them again. If you’re smart you’ll stay away from Turkish Airlines and book with an airline that genuinely values its customers and retains their business, e.g. an airline like Emirates.

Good, bad ugly

The flight itself and the flight attendants, are wonderful.Probably, the best i've experienced in my lifetime. However, after the flight landed is a totally different story. My luggage was misplaced. No big deal. So I thought. On the app they say it is in the Moldova. I am told I cannot pick it up, they will deliver it the next day.....they did not. Then, the following day, now it's day, three, they said they will deliver between ten and twelve. At 6 o'clock at night, we wonder what's going on. I need to pick it up. I landed on Tuesday, my luggage was in the city on Wednesday and I was unable to get it until Saturday.

Then, when I open my luggage, I had a ziploc gallon bag, filled with granola bars, STOLEN. I had a tube of toothpaste also STOLEN! THESE THINGS WERE IN MY CHECK LUGGAGE.

The actual flight itself was wonderful....afterwards bsolutely horrendous.
