Months of waiting for a refund after Turkish Airlines cancelled my flight.
Turkish Airlines cancelled my flight months ago. Under international aviation laws, I am legally entitled to a full cash refund to my original payment card. Instead, their automated customer support has given me the runaround for months.
Their latest response claims the funds were successfully sent to an old, inactive "TK Cüzdan" account, but my active TKPAY Wallet balance remains at zero. This is a technical glitch on their side, trapping my money. I have repeatedly requested a manual override to send the cash back to my Spanish bank account, but they have gone completely silent. Avoid booking with them if you expect consumer rights to be respected.
My checked baggage was damaged during…
My checked baggage was damaged during my flight from São Paulo to Sofia via Istanbul on April 24. I submitted a formal damage report through your website and received a file reference number. However, more than a month has passed, and I have still been unable to speak with anyone regarding my claim or receive an update on its status.
I would appreciate your prompt assistance
very pathetic airline
very pathetic airline, rude staff, flight got delayed, missed the connecting flight, missed my train, had to stay at airport.. never travelling again with them.
Terrible Customer Experience. Avoid at all costs.
We were due to fly to Turkey, but were unable to fly because of a spelling error on my boarding pass. There was a total lack of sympathy from the airline staff and no interest in helping me resolve the situation.
The flight was one of several bookings and they cancelled these as well without informing me.
What a terrible company. I would never use them again.
Turkish airlines scamming me for luggage repair
I am very disappointed with how Turkish Airlines is handling my damaged baggage claim.
Reservation: TK276 (RMO-IST) / TK2200 (IST-KCM) on 21 May 2026
Claim File: 2026124307
My Reebok suitcase was seriously damaged during transport. I submitted photos, baggage claim documents, and proof of purchase information available to me. The damage is clearly visible and the suitcase is not reasonably repairable.
However, Turkish Airlines is now asking for a document from the manufacturer stating that the suitcase cannot be repaired. The suitcase was purchased in Canada, and it is unclear how a passenger is expected to obtain such a document from a foreign manufacturer some time after purchase.
Instead of resolving a straightforward damaged baggage claim, the process feels unnecessarily complicated and designed to discourage passengers from pursuing compensation.
I expected a fair and practical assessment based on the visible damage and the documentation already provided. Unfortunately, that has not been my experience so far.
I hope Turkish Airlines reviews this claim fairly and improves its baggage claims process for future passengers.
Disappointing Refund Support Experience
I am disappointed with the handling of my refund case.
My flight was cancelled due to disruptions in the Middle East, and I requested a refund in March 2026. While Turkish Airlines customer service replied to my inquiries, I received information that was difficult to reconcile with the information provided by the travel agency.
Turkish Airlines informed me that my ticket had already been refunded and advised me to contact the issuing agency. However, the agency stated that it had not received any refund from the airline. As a result, I have spent months trying to determine where the refund process is blocked.
I would have appreciated more detailed assistance, such as confirmation of the refund date, recipient of the refund, or a refund reference number, to help resolve the issue.
I have generally had good experiences flying with Turkish Airlines, but my experience with customer support regarding this refund has been frustrating and remains unresolved.
The best economy company we ever flew…
The best economy company we ever flew with.
I mean it and honestly surprised by the number of negative reviews. Maybe a lot of them are coming from people who don’t read the terms and conditions, especially regarding baggage allowance, transfers etc?
We traveled from London to Maldives, flyover in Istanbul. Not even sure where to start:
We managed to check and have nearby seats with wife without being extorted for extra money, we had decent baggage allowance in cabin as well as checked in, also at no extra charge. Delicious food was provided 3 time each way along with drinks of choice. Care packs were given to each person containing tooth paste and brushes, eyes blanking pads, ear plugs etc.
Planes extremely clean, on board entertainment was unlike anything I have seen in any low cost airline with touch screen tablets loaded with movies, games, music and plenty of other things. Heck, even had free WiFi on our way back so surely they went extra and above the expectations.
Will certainly look to choose Turkish Airlines for future flights.
Bad experience
Second time I get a flight with them and I’m pretty sure it’s gonna be the last one. They continue to make the same mistakes on planning long flights, even if a whole year is gone, causing long delays and unexpected stops inside airports. The worst comes when costumer service is needed; rudeness and no interest on solving problems by the staff and almost zero assistance by the company when they make a mistake. Basically the only good thing they have is movies’ list.
Never again
Some airlines lose baggage. Turkish Airlines lose people!
A TA flight into Istanbul arrived slightly late. My disabled daughter's wheel chair arrived efficiently and we were all rushed to the gate for departure. The wheel chair minder needed the lift and the three of us were told to race to the departure gate. Over a mile away we arrived expecting to meet up with my daughter and check in. We arrived with five minutes to spare but, my daughter did not arrive. TA were not interested at the gate and my daughter was simply lost. She was in fact, without a phone and left a mile away at the aforementioned elevator. We missed the flight and my daughter's distress understandably immense. Eventually she was found, and the TA 'help' desk crowded with other unhappy customers. Overhearing my account of the incident two other strangers also came up with relatives lost during that afternoon.
My flight on the 07th of June 2026 from…
I booked a flight (directly on Turkish Airlines website and not via a middleman) for my boyfriend for the 07th of June 2026 from Denmark to Bagdad via Istanbul. It got cancelled due to 'Force Majeure'. He had already completed the first leg of his journey when the second leg got cancelled around midnight. He consulted the Turkish Airline office at the airport and they were very friendly and helpfull giving him the options of rebooking to the next flight, that most likely will be cancelled too and the next for at least 72 hours, or a return flight home. He chose to return to Copenhagen. He got a full refund (exept the danish leg) easily under 'Manage my bookings' on their website. Besides that the flight to and from Denmark was comfortable. We can recommend Turkish Airlines because of their professionalisme and comfort.

I strongly advise people to be cautious when traveling with this company. Based on my experience, I did not feel safe and would not recommend their services ,
24 hour delay plus more failures
24 hour delay, no compensation. Slow check-in service. 50% food not available on flight. Lost my bags for 24 hours.
Layover Hotel Change September 2026
I am having a very frustrating time trying to change my layover hotel in Istanbul on my forthcoming trip in September. It appears like the hotel reservation team at Turkish Airlines don’t care for customer service. This isn’t our first time travelling on TK. It was a good experience before this. What’s happening, Turkish Airlines?
The in flight meal gave me food…
The in flight meal gave me food poisoning, my return flight was late, baggage claim took 45 minutes and the app wouldn't scan my passport. Never had a worse experience with an airline. I would rather walk to Asia in future, it would be lass hassle
I wish there was no star option
I wish there was no star option. This airline is just scam with hidden fees on everything. Take a bus if you have no options rather than ruining your trip with turkish.
This was by far the worst airline…
This was by far the worst airline experience I have ever had. I should have listened when friends warned me about Turkish Airlines.
I booked my family's vacation flights six months in advance. Originally, I had a reasonable 2-hour layover in Istanbul. Later, the airline changed my itinerary and moved my departure a day earlier, which I was willing to accept. However, they then notified me that my layover had increased from 2 hours to 8 hours. Two weeks before my trip, I received yet another email informing me that the layover had been extended from 8 hours to nearly 20 hours.
At that point, I had no choice but to cancel my trip.
When you plan a family vacation months in advance, you expect some level of reliability and consistency. Constant schedule changes of this magnitude make it nearly impossible to plan with confidence. To make matters worse, I've heard numerous stories about lost baggage and poor customer experiences from others who have flown with Turkish Airlines.
Based on my experience, I would strongly caution anyone considering booking with them. If you enjoy uncertainty, stress, and the possibility of having your travel plans completely disrupted, then this may be the airline for you. Otherwise, I would recommend looking elsewhere.
bot taking over horrible experience
bot taking over horrible experience; life agent connects 2 hours later waits a minute for your to respond and closes the ticket. Back and forth horrible customer support. I will never again fl or book turkish.
Turkish airlines are the worst airline…
Turkish airlines are the worst airline I've ever flown with and we have flown a lot!
Their customer service is appalling the cabin crew were rude the ground handling completely unhelpful. Then when we had a delay they refused to pay what we were owed after six months dispute they paid only half. Please if at all possible NEVER fly with them. T
Terrible treatment at boarding in Shanghai
I took a flight from Shanghai. The check-in staff confirmed our hand luggage was ok, however, when boarding the plane they made us discard our personal things due to overweight. We had cameras and laptops in our personal item bags, which were obviously heavy but the check in staff didn't weigh them and told us it's alright. The boarding staff was extremely rude. Never had such an experience with any airlines before. The customer service only referred to the general luggage allowance rules and never addressed our actual complaint about the inconsistent information provided to us by their staff, which caused us a lot of stress and money loss. Very disappointed in the airlines that claim to be one of the best ones.
Warning to Future Passengers
Warning to Future Passengers
My complaint is not about a refund. My complaint is about a serious communication and system failure.
Turkish Airlines cancelled my flight, yet I was not informed for six days. During that period, I received no effective notification that my journey would not take place.
Even more concerning, approximately 23 hours before departure, the airline’s system allowed me to complete online check-in and assigned me a seat. Any reasonable passenger would assume that a flight is operating normally if check-in is open and a seat has been allocated.
If the flight had already been cancelled, why was check-in available? Why was a seat assigned? Why was I not informed immediately? Why was I forced to continue my travel preparations based on inaccurate information?
Instead of receiving clear answers to these questions, I have repeatedly received responses focused on ticket refunds, while the airline avoids addressing the actual issue.
This experience caused unnecessary stress, wasted time, disrupted travel plans, and a complete loss of confidence in the airline’s communication process. Passengers deserve accurate information, especially when a flight is cancelled.
Until Turkish Airlines explains how a cancelled flight could remain open for online check-in and seat assignment, I cannot recommend this airline based on my experience.
