Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 369 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Customers frequently complained about unhelpful customer service, long wait times on the phone, and extreme difficulties reaching a real person for assistance. Consumers also experienced severe issues with unexpected payments, unwanted account fees, and lengthy delays regarding check deposits. Though some people encountered frustrating administrative problems, a small portion of reviewers were genuinely happy with the helpful and professional staff members who actively resolved their daily concerns. These consumers deeply appreciated when individual bank employees took the extra time to patiently guide them through difficult, confusing, and stressful financial situations.

STAY AWAY FROM ANY TRUIST BANK

STAY AWAY FROM ANY TRUIST BANK! I booked a multi city trip to Istanbul to get health surgery’s done in instanbul turkey on arrival to the doctors offices in dentist. My card declined numerous times I then called customer service multiple times a day giving them verification that this is not fraud and it’s me giving them my Social Security number phone number verification and whatever they asked for just for the manager to tell me, unfortunately there is nothing we can do leaving us stranded with no other choice. This is the only card I brought with me and this is my debit card. This is my own personal money. We could not even extend our hotel because of the card declining for the manager to tell us unfortunately there’s nothing we can do and just leaving us stranded in a Third World country is unacceptable. We had to make numerous phone calls to figure out how to even come home paying triple the amount because of our cards this is very unprofessional for a bank company to tell us there’s nothing we can do and to hang up the phone and leave us stranded in Turkey not being able to pay for anything over $300 and saying there is nothing else that they can do as they continue to block my card from transactions there will be a big lawsuit coming their way for this is unacceptable for the stress that me and my family had to endure during this time. Do not trust this bank with your money. I do not recommend anybody to deal with this bank or have them as a personal banking for your expenses. The manager I spoke with was Kaylee M, which she continued to say there is nothing I can help you with. I’ve tried numerous times to unblock unblock the card and unfortunately, there’s nothing we can do that is very unprofessional to leave me stranded in a Third World country like this with no way out not knowing how to book any flights or hotels or pay for any of the medical expenses that were already done. STAY AWAY FROM TRUIST BANK! LAW SUIT IN ORDER!

All transactions declined as "fraud" and customer service is waste of time

This is the worst bank ever! Every time I use my debit card online, the transaction gets declined for "suspected fraud," however I don't get any notification, and have to make 3 or 4 calls to tell them its "not fraudulent" however only half of the merchants actually get fixed. VERY ANNOYING and last call with supervisor Jasmine was told not to retry the merchants even though they marked them as "not fraudulent" and try different purchasing options. This bank SUCKS BIG TIME!!!

Truist no longer cares about the community

When Truist took over, we didn't like the idea of an out of town bank, but they kept most of the employees, making it feel hometown. In the last few years, Truist has cut the staff down to a skeleton crew of employees. There is only one or two local people recognizeable. If you go in, thinking you might get waited on faster you still have to wait while one person works the front and the drive thru window. Occasionally, you might go in and there will be 2, rarely 3. If you want to speak to the loan officer, now only one to my knowledge, you have to make an appointment. It's now all business and nothing about the bank feels hometown. Recently they were asked to make a donation to a big field day at St Catharine Farm. An event put on yearly in appreciation of the farm families. Farming being the main industry of the county. It's no longer walk in and they know what your talking about. They've probably never had anyone even attend. You have to jump through hoops to get anything. That makes me sad. Springfield State Bank, still bring a local bank, you can walk in, see a loan officer if you need one, several teller windows to choose from, talk to the president of the bank if you want. Get a donation without having to jump through hoops. An entirely different atmosphere. The kind of experience we use to enjoy at Truist. I remember going into Truist a couple of years ago to get 11 rolls of quarters. I bet from the time I walked in to the time I left it was 25 minutes. There was only one visible employee in the whole bank. What's going on? Why don't we feel good about our Bank? It's Truist. They have abandoned our community.

My card was compromised, $400 dollars, some fraudster purchased an Ebay gift card!! Truist will not give my my money back. I bet they didn't even investigate. I am disgusted with this bank!!! Do they really think an average person is going to purchase an Ebay gift card for $400 dollars!!!??? I would never ever never purchase a freaking gift card for Ebay!!!

I have a car loan with Truist. I wanted to switch payment dates from the middle of the month (24th) to the beginning of the month (5th). They said if I changed payment dates my interest rate would be raised!! WHAT THE HECK??!! Just to change to an earlier date? Totally don’t get it. Customer service representatives are really difficult to understand as well…

I've had a mortgage with SunTrust /…

I've had a mortgage with SunTrust / Truist for over 25 years. I took out a home equity loan used it do some work around the house. Paid the loan back faster than I was supposed to. Fast forward to a year and three months later. I'm trying to sell the house and I need a letter stating that the home equity line of credit has been closed. I call them on their service line and it was sold I would get a letter in 10 to 17 business days. A week went by and I decided to go into one of the branches and see if I could get one there. It was the Hixson Tennessee branch. I went in and spoke with one of the customer representatives at their desks. I told him I needed a letter saying that the account was closed. He told me he couldn't do it and I had to call the number for the service line again. I call him again the same thing I'm told 10 to 17 business days. 17 days after the first call I go back into a branch in Soddy-Daisy Tennessee. They're very helpful there I actually get a letter from someone at the desk and she states that the account is closed. I get informed that Truist is telling the mortgage company that the account is not closed. I called back to the number and learn that there is a $13.44 charge that has not been paid. After a year and 3 months you would think that they would have informed me that I owed them $13.44 instead of causing so much torment in my life. I will never use Truist for anything again.

I would give Truist a zero if I could

I would give Truist a zero if I could. We were customers of Suntrust before the merger and service wasn’t great, but was acceptable. Post merger it got wires to the point we finally closed our accounts and changed banks. As soon as we closed our accounts they cut off our login details so we could not even check recent statements or checks. Horrible customer service. Even Wells Fargo is better than Truist. Think about that…

Takes forever in the teller line

Takes forever in the teller line. Can always expect a 10 minute wait if there is no one in line ahead of me but both tellers are with a customer. AND every time I walk into this particular branch, theres that horrible smell of perfume. So it must be an employee thats wearing it. I discovered a fragrance that contains Frankincense, amber and leather that has a smoky smell. Thats what this is like. That acrid, nostril burning smell of smoke that clings to your clothes and you can still smell it when you leave. Like being in a forest fire.
This is not just today but every month I go in to make a payment

TRUIST HOLDS ONLINE CUSTOMERS HOSTAGE

SOMEHOW MY PREVIOUS REVIEW HERE WAS DELETED! On June 27, 2026 I attempted to go into my Truist online account and was met with a BLOCK saying I MUST sign an Electronic Signature agreement which gives them the POWER OF ATTORNEY to make changes to my account without my individual knowledge or approval.... In other words, they are holding our online accounts HOSTAGE. BEWARE!!!

Truist bank is very unprofessional and deceitful!

Truist bank is very unprofessional and their customer service is very rude and lacks integrity. They sent me a letter saying they were closing my credit card account on June the 16th and the letter was dated June the 16th. I got no notice that they were closing my account until after it was closed. Truist sent me a letter dated June 12th, stating I didn't make my June 12th payment which made no sense because the day they dated the letter was the 12th, I received both letters on June 24th. I called Truist and the customer service was very rude, unprofessional and deceitful. I plan to move to a professional banking company in the near future. I would not recommend Truist bank to anyone!

Truist forcing customers to consent to electronic signatures

Truist just put a "wall" up on the access to online banking...you CANNOT get into your account without consenting to electronic signatures being used on your accounts. FUBAR. I went to the branch and they said the phone had been ringing off the hook. They said I either consent or can't use online banking. This means ALOT of work for me to catch them the next time they pretend that the grocery store took 10 days to debit what I bought? No they didn't! This is a class action suit needing to happen.

Truist Commercial Executive Services Caught Misleading the CFPB

Truist Bank has formally denied my fraud claim regarding a $999.00 non-functional software purchase, refusing to investigate a total failure of consideration despite documented merchant admissions. When I escalated this to the CFPB, Truist’s Commercial Executive Services representative, Kayla Allen, actively misled federal investigators on June 5, 2026, by claiming they were 'actively working on a solution' and requested a 60-day extension despite having already finalized a denial. Following this, their legal counsel at Burr & Forman issued a final denial on July 13, 2026, relying on a boilerplate defense that ignores my evidence of breach and security negligence. Active regulatory investigations are now open under the OCC, CFPB, NCCOB, and OFR. A formal Demand for Arbitration is being filed with JAMS. Avoid Truist Business banking at all costs.

I had an inspection scheduled for…

I had an inspection scheduled for 9:00am today. Due to the unknown number my phone didn’t give me a notification of the call. The inspector left me a message to call back with the call back phone number that’s out of service. I tried to reach their automated phone service and no one picks up when customer service is requested. So my check won’t be deposited now. I’m extremely frustrated to say the least. They really need to make the system more efficient for customers.
