Shame on you Trufflefrance
I ordered 185Euro worth of trufffle product (100gms of fresh in season black Perigord truffles, plus express delivery and some truffle oil). We know our truffles. We are not French but have lived abroard for decades. We were so excited about Christmas as I had 100gms of fresh black truffle to serve to my guests. Delivery was seamless, sent to our home within 2 days of the order. Packed in cool packs. Alas, the truffle were not as awesome as the delivery method. They were old. Minimal aroma. No taste. Stale and sad. We were so very disappointed. Not only because of the disappointment with the truffle, but with the disappointment of the company. They pretty much said too bad, maybe we do not understand truffle or how to cook them. They added that the Perigord Truffles in December are not as good as in January (this is their explanation? Maybe the rest of the world should be advised of this). I am a good cook. I study gastronomy and have a wide understanding of cuisine having lived in all over the world. I holiday in Europe, 8 times a year for 10 days at a time for leisure. I understand my food. I know the gras of France. French food makes me happy and to be dismissed by "trufflefrance” is beyond poor. Our truffles were delivered as per recommendation taking the expensive quick delivery option and stored as per recommendation. They tasted stale even on the very first day of arrival. These did indeed look like truffles, but the similarities ended there. We did not eat them. To be treated like 'tourists' who simply do not have a clue was insulting to me. I do not expect the earth, I do expect a polite aquiescence and some sort of apology on the monies paid (amounting to close to 200euro).
Shame on you Trufflefrance. We shall not use your company again and I just wish it wasn't our Christmas dinner that was at stake!
