Horrible company to work with. Their websites are unusable, and trying to manage your account is done on a series of non-connected websites with names like success and renewonline... you just kinda have to know what to type and hope that maybe they won't kill your email.

This company used to be great. They are just awful now. I've used them for 20 years and had great results from the security. However, We just switch our team and my personal account from them because there is exactly zero help. They are case in point with what is wrong with American companies that don't have any understanding how important customer support it. Read and heed the warning! If anything goes wrong, you'll be on your own having to swallow the loss unless you do a charge back or something. So frustrating.

In June 2025, I purchased the MAXIMUM SECURITY PLUS package, and thought this was a great deal - after all the company states it’s has millions of users, and has partnerships with Nvidia, Dell and many more tier-one tech companies.Has to be good, right 🙃
In my case, I was only able to install the antivirus package, after successfully installing this package I was surprised to find how limited this software is. The UI interface reminded me about a poor architecture that was built in the early 90-ties, it is slow, odd and after a full scan the application crashed and now it is not working, any longer. Moreover, all the other features in this bundle such secure VPN and the Cleaner Pro can’t be downloaded, despite you paid premium price for a full security package that can support pretty much all tech platforms available. The mobile device software is very basic, has literally no function when running on iOS environments.
No support at all available, very frustrating and the self-claimed 24/7 support is a total lie. Importantly, it is not possible to get a refund despite the company claiming that.
BE WARNED THIS COMPANY IS RUNNING AWAY WITH YOUR MONEY, DO NOT BUY THEIR SECURITY SOLUTIONS.

Absolutely ZERO support! Program says I have 26 days to renew, while also telling me it's already expired?! Logging into the useless website seems to indicate that I'm on auto renew? There's no way to update payment info either, not that i need to but at least I could check that they have my info correct. Trend Micro STINKS. Talk about the brush off with NO support! Probably get tons of spam in my email after using my email account to complain.

So tired of the forced auto renew with this company. Got an email today that my subscription will auto renew. I am 41 days out. Logged into my account immediately to cancel. Repeated attempts to cancel have failed even though just before the last ok to cancel it said my auto renew was cancelled only to find out it is still in auto renew mode. Can't get any chat agents and can't reach anyone by phone. I am so done with this company.

Digital River Incorporated and Trend Micro should face criminal trial for their many unscrupulous business practices that include falsely charging Trend Micro Auto-Pay customers that cancelled their subscriptions. I cancelled my auto pay account a month before I was charged with auto-pay. Digital River has my credit card profile and will not allow me access to my own credit card information. I have had serious issues with my business computer. I had a consultant take several hours last week get into my computer only to mess up my files and send files into another new drive. He was barely easy to understand! I called several times only to be told that the last consultant solved the issue when he in fact worsened my computer which is now malfunctioning. I called again yesterday to request an escalation of the issue but failed. Can I get a cancellation and refund and go to another tech support.
A 15 year decline of Trend Micro on…
I have been using Trend Micro on personal PCs and Smart Devices for in excess of 15 years. Almost 18 months ago I noticed that the Monthly Security reports on all Android devices were incorrect or outdated or simply non-existent. I started a dialogue with Trend that, in written form, suggested they acknowledged the problem was real and they were trying to engineer a solution. In the following months of regular dialogue I trusted their responses to the extent that I even upgraded to a more expensive package. Big mistake (BM) #1.
I requested an online discussion and a mutual time was arranged and the call took place. At their request I uninstalled & reinstalled the software on multiple Android devices (and on their advice checked the Security reports after a month). The problem was not solved but the technician advised they would escalate the problem to a higher level of support and they would come back to me. No return call ever made. BM #2. Several further time slots for phone calls were arranged but none were ever received.
I phoned the local office and spoke with a very polite person that made all the right noises and we uninstalled / reinstalled again (again waited for a month for updated / corrected reports). No change and no further meaningful correspondence from Trend.
Finally given up (yes, 18 months) and have (tried to) take the step of cancelling Auto renewal. After 7 attempts and constant messages of ‘Oops. Something went wrong…..try again later’ I can sense an upcoming argument.
A classic example of a product leader being allowed to deteriorate to a cellar dweller in performance and support. STAY AWAY, DO NOT BUY.

From other reviews it seems that I share the bad experiences with this company. My subscription is not up for renewal until January, but they charged me a renewal fee already. And that although I had cancelled Autorenewal months ago.
A Scam: Cyber Security Company that Uses Compromised Info
If you're thinking about going with Trend Micro, maybe think again -- I wrote them this message after they failed to respond to my inquiry about charging me for an account I've never opened, not once but four times. Their customer service team told me to follow instructions to cancel an auto renewal that I never agreed to and second, the portal they sent me to didn't even work. Even a contact form to question and order number failed to work. I sent them screenshots of the issues. What's hilarious is they responded to my first outreach instantaneously and didn't follow through on my second and third and now fourth outreach, asking for them to refund me and remove my information from their accounts. How can they be trusted to secure anyone's information if they are allowing identify thieves comprise information of others and use it to open accounts. DO NOT BUY. Go with ESET instead of the SCAMMERS
Here's one of my messages to them, as they won't reply; I have had to reach out to them on social media: "Hey Trend Micro, why are you not responding to my email request to cease charging me for an account I never opened? Your portal is broken and I sent you screenshots. And emailed your customer service email and the email I sent suddenly bounced back more 8 hours later, when it seemingly went through to your team before? How can you promise cyber security if you're avoiding handling a matter of fraud. You're a scam."

Do not waste your time and money with this absolute useless software - constant bugs that have cost me hours of back and forth with support and they arent willing to get on a call to resolve the issue with their bugs.

Awful anti-virus experience
Awful anti-virus experience. It is constantly popping up with trivial nothings, asking to restart your web browser mid-use, popping up this, notifying you of nothing important, blocking your games and commonly used apps from launching. It is such an annoying AV to use, it reminds me of how bad Norton was. This is literally like malware. Avoid it. Eset and Bitdefender are a million times better. I bought a three year license, stuck it out for a year and moved to another AV because TrendMicro is so bad.
Blatant theft …
I find it bordering on theft when I had cancelled my Trend Micro product, receiving acknowledgement only to find that Digital River has again deducted my account for subscription amount. This transaction is in spite of having written acknowledgement agreeing to cancel my subscription. I am going to write to the Department of Fair Trading so hopefully they can warn prospective buyers to be on the look out.
Creditcard charge without any purchases!
As I checked my bank account today, I noticed that I was charged €109,90 for a service I never bought. My bank statement says it was DRI*Trend Software Ireland, a company I do not know and never bought anything from. Besides that, I live in The Netherlands and don't own a computer so I have no need for any antivirus software programs. I haven't bought any subscriptions from them in the past either.
I will be going to the local police station tomorrow and I'm gonna file a police report for fraud. I urge every victim to do the same!
