Travelodge in not an hotel
Travelodge in not an hotel! It's operates like an air B&B.
I've been travelling for over 60 years, staying in hotels throughout the UK and overseas. From 5 star to humble B&Bs. Never before have I had an experience like the one in the Snaresbrook Travelodge.
It was convenient to visit our newly arrived granddaughter and had ample free parking. We booked for 2 nights.
On returning late on the second night we noticed the room hadn't been cleaned. No one had been in the room, it was as we left it that morning.
I went to "reception" and was asked if I'd left the card on the door? "What card?"
Here's the deal.
Unless you stay for more than 7 nights, Travelodge does not clean the room. The best one can hope for is for the bins to be emptied, get fresh towels and more tea and coffee. But to get even these basic items, one has to leave the "Please Top Me Up" card outside the room before 11:00am. The card is similar to a "Do Not Disturb" one. Ours was left with the fresh towels on a bed when we arrived. I totally ignored it. Hotels are always leaving cards, usually promoting room service or the restaurant. But even if I'd read it, it didn't tell me much.
There is nothing on the Travelodge website to explain this policy. It's not mentioned on the welcome sign in reception. Nor did the receptionist explain this to me on check in.
The card reads:
"If you need fresh towels, more tea & coffee or your bins emptied, hang me outside before 11am".
To me that's an invite to request extra items, It doesn't go on to say:
"Unlike other hotels, we do not clean rooms, make beds or replenish supplies."
Travelodge has just lost another customer. At least it didn't give our room key to a stranger!

So bad - If I could leave no stars, or even minus stars, I would.
Our experience was horrific. We travelled with 3 children - 2 family rooms.
The first hotel was littered with rubbish, the carpets looked and smelled like they were 100 year old pub carpet.
Golding Road, Bedford was where we booked - this was essentially a bail hostel/emergency housing for vulnerable, homeless people. Which - I have no problem with.
What I do have a problem with is the noise, the smell, the needles in the car park area, the amount of smoking IN the hotel, the constant smell of cannabis and the general standard of the place.
We paid a lot of money for an 8 night stay with 2 rooms, I appreciate this is a budget hotel however, the rooms were not cleaned properly, the curtains do not even fit the windows. Stains on the mattresses, pillows and duvets. Black mould on the bathroom tils and sills.
I complained and was moved to Brickhill Drive where, also a small improvement (the carpets were better), the same clientele stayed there, shouting, smoking, general loitering, crazy low level of cleanliness.
I would strongly recommend using Premier Inn, at least their staff are willing to help. I had to insist on escalation and spoke to so many people who had no idea how to deal with a complaint.

Horrible hotel experience.
I am extremely disappointed with my recent stay at the Travelodge Cardiff Central Queen Street, particularly with the way our concerns were handled by the staff member who served us, “Izzy”.
We arrived at around 4:00 pm and explained to the receptionist that we had booked two rooms. Based on our previous stays at Travelodge in Gloucester and Bristol during the same trip, we expected the rooms to be located reasonably close to each other. However, we were given rooms 105 and 111, which were actually on opposite sides of the hotel. This was not obvious at reception because the room numbers are so close numerically.
We returned to reception and politely asked if the rooms could be changed to ones closer together. We were told that the rooms could not be changed once they had been assigned. Another staff member then asked whether we had paid an additional fee to select our rooms. I found this response very frustrating. How were we supposed to know that rooms 105 and 111 would be so far apart, especially when there appeared to be empty rooms available?
I even offered to pay for different rooms, but the staff member said that this was not recommended.
Later, after we had gone out for something to eat, we returned to the rooms and opened the curtains. We were very disappointed to discover that both rooms faced the alley behind the hotel. Room 111 was particularly unpleasant, as there were large air-conditioning units/exhausts blowing hot air into the area, and the surroundings were dirty.
As we were staying during the heatwave, we could not comfortably open the window because of the unpleasant air and smell coming from outside. I sat on the bed for around half an hour and was still sweating, while only a small fan was provided in the room.
We went back to reception again and asked if we could change rooms. Unfortunately, we were simply told that there were no other rooms available. The explanation given by the staff was extremely disappointing, especially considering the conditions of the room and the fact that we had already raised the issue earlier.
The attitude of the staff member, particularly Izzy, also made the situation worse. I felt that our concerns were treated with indifference, rather than being taken seriously or handled with any attempt to find a reasonable solution.
We had stayed at Travelodge hotels in Gloucester and Bristol earlier during the same trip and had a completely different experience. This made the contrast in service and room quality even more disappointing.
In the end, I decided that I could not stay in the room for even another hour, so I had no choice but to book another hotel on the next street and spend the night there instead.
This experience has seriously affected my confidence in Travelodge. I have previously been happy to stay at Travelodge, but after this experience, I would seriously reconsider staying with Travelodge again. The difference in quality and customer service between the hotels was quite significant.
I would appreciate it if you could investigate what happened and provide an explanation, particularly regarding how our room allocation and subsequent requests to change rooms were handled.
Manchester Picadilly
Manchester Picadilly, arrived after 11 pm night staff were awfull staff were rude ,spoiled the stay as soon as we met them, no side table in room which if you need medical equipment at night for breathing was not good as nowhere to put it. Room fitted with charging point but old USB style so dont fit the smaller charging cables.Bring a bath mat bathroom floor in the accessible rooms are deffo not slip proof, keycard had to be updated 5 times in a two day stay

Reception staff informed us:-
“they dont have ANY Irons, in whole building and waiting for an order”🤷🏾♀️

Euston Travelodge
We stayed in a family room for 3 nights and an accessible room for 2 nights,The family room did not have enough space for the wheelchair and 2 cases otherwise it was ok. The accessible room we moved into after we got rid of the grandchildren had a few issues we would like to point out. The bathroom floor is not non slip, the fan in the bathroom remained on during our 2 nights and the toilet did not flush even to get the toilet paper away this meant we had to use the disabled toilet outside the cafe. They say the beds in the accessible room are at 480mm but when you sit on them it probably goes down 50mm to 60mm.The mattress needs to be have firmer edges. The are no instructions for the air conditioning unit in the bedroom areas this can be difficult to set. I would suggest that some type of grab rail should be incorporated with bed or adjacent to the bed. The cafe was to small for the hotel and there were only one or two staff dealing with seating and clearing tables and making sure the hot food was replenished.
Travelodge never again
Is this a hotel or not? Due to a cancelled job I needed to try and cancel my 2 nights at the Travelodge Birmingham Halesowen 18 Aug which I had paid for...The website is a nightmare for me of older years. When booking it kept saying 2 people although i kept saying only one. So when i booked and ordered breakfast I ended up with 4 breakfasts. You cannot call the hotel without paying so much a minute. I did find a 0203 number but when i rang it said nobody available to speak to you. They only supply a cold small boxed breakfast not enough for someone to go to do a days work. They are just making it easier for themselves and reading other reviews I was so pleased I never stayed there. How can a company continue with such bad ratings. I did press cancel my booking on the automatic reply AI person but got no reply. I am happy to loose my money but it will be the last ever they get from me.....I did try to click the one where I could cancel by a certain time but so confused with their website. Travelodge you need to up your game

Oswentry Room has not been hoovered mud and stones all on the floor.toilet does nor flush away toilet paper and fan in the bathroom is on constant even with light off and door shut Absolutel dive
Just avoid as there is no customer services if you have a problem to resolve.
Parking fine for parking in their car park overnight whilst staying. Receptionist must have made a typing error with my car registration. Travelodge customer services don’t reply other than constantly saying they’re busy. Parking monitoring company won’t listen. Just typical of big corporate body with no care.
Stayed at Bullring Birmingham
Stayed at Bullring Birmingham. Probably cheapest/best value near city centre.
But little room service - carpet never vacuumed despite fluff all over it from bedding. Bathroom never cleaned. Their policy of ‘topping up’ consumables seems to replace room service, but even then I had to ask for more loo rolls and tea bags as the service was a bit variable !
And sometimes the key cards cancelled and had to be reprogrammed.
Had to pay for WiFi after 30 mins free (on top of the room rate - why??)
Oh well - you get what you pay for if you’re lucky.
Travelodge, Ryde, IOW
I've stayed at Travelodge, Ryde, Isle of Wight once a year since 2020 as it's convenient for public transport, plenty of places to eat nearby especially love Wetherspoons and Tony's Fish and chip for eating in. This year I wished Travelodge had air conditioning as the fan provided in the room wasn't very effective as didn't oscillate. My daughter and granddaughters room further down was even 🥵🔥 hotter than mine to my dismay, we had great trouble sleeping and the windows were only open a few inches and clearly couldn't be opened any more. Staff were nice. Please Travelodge, get air conditioning ASAP, yours hopefully as like staying at Travelodge s and we'll always return to stay in the summer hols! Thank you
Riverside Norwich.
Riverside Norwich.
Clean room, easy check in and a calm and quiet atmosphere.
Staff polite, efficient and accommodating, (shout out especially to Crystal).
Good location and everything you may need is nearby.
WiFi is paid as is common nowadays and functional rather than brilliant.
Summary.
Does exactly what they say they will and staff excellent.
Do NOT stay here
Only one star but if I could i could do zero I would. Check in staff and early evening bar staff (same ones) were lovely. That's the positive. The one positive.
The corridors were furnaces and the room. Tired. Very tired. A tissue/wipe under the bed. Eww.
The bath and shower. Not a pleasant experience. Water only got slightly warmer than tepid and zero pressure.
Then the room temperature. Never been in such a hot and airless room ever. No relief from it at all. There was a small.fan but it wouldn't rotate/move as broken so just got hot air.
Bar was advertised as 24 hours. After waiting 25 mins (yes it was 1.20 am but there were others there who said theyd had to wait 45 mins!) we gave up.and went to bed.
All round a grimy, hot, humid and unpleasant experience. I will.never be back.
Stayed at Chester central for one…
Stayed at Chester central for one night. Website confusing on which hotel you’re staying at as there was another travel lodge 200 yards down the road. Use of car park confusing as discount not applicable at certain car parks. Hotel itself was grim. Room felt like a prisoners cell. No furniture dark and cold. Check-in took 25 minutes although no issue with staff. It was clean. I will never stay at a Travelodge again as value for money does not equate.
Travelodge Stonehouse.
Travelodge Stonehouse.
No glasses at all. No aircon. No hairdryer. No bar. No restaurant.
Breakfast apparently served in a box
One hand towel per room.
Supposed to have WiFi included but receptionist not able to sort out.
Never use them again
Parking fine at Manchester Birch eastbound
Stayed at Manchester Birch eastbound. It is on a Moto site and since my last visit about 3 months ago they now charge for parking at £7.50 per stay. I was annoyed at this but then found out I couldn't pay for it because they only have telephone banking payment terminals and I don't have telephone banking. Now I have a parking fine from the parking sharks that operate the MOTO car park asking for £100. Travelodge say they can't (or won't) sort it out for me!!!
I suspect a lot of people will be having the same problem. Sort it out Travelodge, it's not rocket science. If you want to charge extra for parking at least provide people with other ways to pay cos this is ridiculous.
Semi flexi rate no point service
Booked a 2 night stay using semi flexi rate, didnt realise that changing the booking would incur an extra cost of £12.50, adding insult to injury you do not get any refund from the original booking price.
As i said could stay the 2 nights so changed it to 1 night, thought I would save £60.00 but actually you don't get that refunded and you need to pay the 12.50 for ammendment. What is the actual point in the semi flexi rate, may as well left it as 2 nights at least they couldn't re -sell that 1 night. Very disappointed at travelodge customer service and a much used service from us will be no more.
Extremely disappointing and unsanitary…
Extremely disappointing and unsanitary experience at Travelodge Bournemouth Seafront. Found dirtybathroom upon check-in, and staff refused to properly sanitize it when reported. Completely unacceptable hygiene standards.
I accidentally booked myself into the…
I accidentally booked myself into the travel lodge in Kendal a few hours earlier this morning, on checking on line I realised I should have done Kendal town centre. Realising my mistake I rang customer services to see if I could swap it. As I had paid the saver rate, plus paid for WiFi and chose the room I wanted as was told I could not change it because of paying saver rate. I paid a total of £269 and will now have the inconvenience of trying to get about safely. What a lovely way to treat an O.A.P. Who uses travelodge 2/3 times a year, well not anymore and no recommendations from me.
