I ordered currency online, to be delivered tomorrow (on Tuesday), stayed in for the delivery and it never turned up. Royal Mail misrouted it apparently. They tried delivering the next day, but I wasn’t in, then didn’t turn up Thursday as promised. Travelex cheerily tell me that if I can’t get to sorting office that I can wait 18 days for the package to return to them and I will get a refund. Then they tell me they will refund me, then I’m told they’re waiting on my instruction. Utterly useless and inconsistent. And in the meantime I’m £600 down with no currency.
Buy from Travelex and you too could have this much fun…
Updated following Travelex reply - well, I emailed as per the response, and “our best” was actually “no reply”. I’m beginning to think the whole operation is a scam.

Easy to order cash or card and collection process is very well organised. Exchange rates are very competitive.

Travelex are always my first port of call for great rates and excellent service.

Everything arranged for us from transfers to experiences to provided technology were excellent! The guides (Mai and Reiko) that were arranged were wonderful! Very knowledgeable and went out of their way to provide a super experience!! Please pass on our deep thanks to them and the team in Japan! Must say we ordered Euros cash & paid by BACs, Travelex has always been our go to for currency, always excellent rate of exchange.

I have no idea how this company is so highly rated. They told me their rates were good/better than XYZ (my fault for not double checking cause I was in a bit of a rush & exchanging to a currency I wasn’t very familiar with) - they told me they charge no additional fees - they did + commission. I realised soon after that I’d lost about £120 worth of money through exchanging with them. After making a complaint & asking them to reverse the transaction, they took me on a wild goose chase of customer service which never got anywhere - told me they’d call me back & once again they never did. I decided to keep that money in the account thinking I can use it the next time I go to Thailand & now I realise they’ve been charging me 2.99 a month for being inactive?? What kind of stupidity, non-transparent kind of business are you. Furthermore, the app apparently doesn’t have the functionality of moving this money to another account (you have to call up & spend another £6 to do a manual bank transfer or take out all the money at an atm which is far & few between) - I’ve never been so displeased with a business in all my life.

Horrible/misleading costs (they didn’t even have the exchange rate on display - just told me it was higher than average & I was getting +10%), hidden fees & costs, no transparency to the customer

A smooth experience purchasing online and picking up my travel money at the airport.

I would strongly advise anyone to avoid this company and its travel card.
Before travelling, we attempted to top up our travel card with £1,000, converting it to US dollars. The transaction was declined due to what the app described as an "error." As we were already on holiday and needed access to funds, I then tried topping up £20 from my bank account, which was successful. Assuming the previous issue had been resolved, I attempted to top up a further £985. This transaction was also declined with the same app error.
Despite both larger transactions being declined, the £1,000 and £985 have both been taken from my account and my partner's account, leaving us without access to our money.
This has been an incredibly stressful experience while abroad. When I contacted customer services, communication was very difficult, and the only response we repeatedly received was that they "could not see the transaction." After requesting to speak to a supervisor, I was eventually informed that there is a £500 daily top-up limit. However, this restriction is not clearly stated anywhere within the app and in fact, the app contradicts this as it states a maximum top up of £5,000.
As a result, my partner and I have been left without access to our money for 2–3 days while waiting for the pending transactions to be reversed. Being left without funds during a holiday due to unclear limits and poor customer support is completely unacceptable.
Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this company or its travel card. I would strongly encourage others to consider alternative providers to avoid the risk of having their holiday disrupted in the same way.
