Normally quite happy to visit Toby Carvery Redhill but tonight was very dissapointing to say the least. The amount of meat was hardly enough to make a sandwich. They had run out of vegetarian bak... See more

Poor service and disappointing food
Poor service and disappointing food. I would not recommend this place. My complaint about a staff member’s poor service was not addressed properly, and instead, the company appeared more focused on defending their staff than resolving the issue professionally.
App issues no response from customer services
I have emailed customer services with reference to having problems with their latest app numerous times this week. Have had to reinstall the app because it won't allow me to register with them again, it keeps getting stuck. Have not had any feedback from them. Very unprofessional. Not sure what else I can do!
Dreadful service and quality
Staying at the Travelodge in Whitchurch Cardiff. The restaurant is normally like a zoo, but it seemed reasonably quiet, so we thought we'd go for it. We picked a quiet table in the self serve area and bought a drink and paid for the carvery. The glasses were dirty and the area quickly filled up. I asked if I could move to a quieter table, of which there were plenty. I was told by the male server that the area I wanted to sit in was closed, which it obviously wasn't, just laid up for tomorrow. The excuse was that he couldn't serve us at the table, we were self service as we'd already paid and just needed a table. At this point the idiot just turned his back and walked away. We limped our way through a very poor service carvery and left. Probably my own fault, should have gone with my first instinct and left it alone.
Toby Carvery Highnam
Had a meal at Toby Carbery Highnam today which was lovely. Quick service, good hearty food and great service from Dean!
Have been a few times before and always had great service from Dean! Well done 💪🏼

I have Coeliac disease an I am sure they don't know what it is!
The restaurant does not have any gluten free beer which is plentiful and they are still putting wheat flour as opposed to corn flour in the gravy so a very dry roast.
On asking the waitress to point out the GF deserts she said they were the same as the vegan options! OMG! On asking she said would find out and returned some time later to say the kitchen was closed at 21.00 even though the place closes at 22.30!
NOT IMPRESSED, DONT GO THERE!

James and Simona from Toby Carvery Horsforth were absolutely wonderful - a model example of top class and professional staff. If only other restaurants has this kind of quality of staff - highly recommended - thank you!!!
Scales need recalibrating…..
After having a bad experience with a Toby Carvery takeaway about a year ago (lots of mashed potato and carrots and a couple of slices of meat) we decided to give it another go against the wishes of my husband who reminded me that we paid £36.00 last time for a plate of mash potato and carrots. This time exactly the same thing, the food arrived, a round container full of mash and carrots with a couple of slices of meat on top. My husband found the beef tough and inedible and cruelly gave it to the dogs to eat. Honestly, we paid £40.00 for an expensive plate of mash and carrots. I complained directly to the Toby and received a reply saying they weigh all portions of food to make sure everyone gets a fair share. Using scales is impressive, but perhaps the scales need recalibrating if two slices of beef now count as a carvery. For £40 I wasn’t expecting a medieval famine reenactment. At least Richard Turpin had the audacity to wear a mask……lesson learnt, won’t be using Toby again.

It's been 10 years since we went to a carvery, nothing has changed. The yorkies were obviously the same ones. Cold hard and inedible. Vegetables overcooked and not drained. Surroundings filthy. I have picture of the curtains and wall were we sat covered in what I hope was gravy. Ingrained over the years. Thanet carvery. Never again.
Friday afternoon booked
Friday afternoon booked, wife in wheelchair. Arrived at serving place found very little to choose from. By then long queue behind her so took what we could get . Yorkshire pudding hard. Beef chewed but indigestible as was the chicken

dried, compressed rubber
Toby carvery, pontprennau, cardiff.
toby carvery are getting worse without a doubt. Years ago, always a satisfying meal for everyone young to elderly. Is it the chefs or the produce that it lacking?
I had not been pontprennau for a couple of years as the last time i went there the food was awful.
I have stopped at various other ones, newport being one where it was well liked and tasty.
I ended up going back to pontprennau sunday as the way things worked out for me, i was on the doorstep so thought cant always be bad.
Everything was dried out, the lamb was over cooked, the stuffing was not cooked in the middle, the collie, couldnt be cut where i even asked the waitress to watch me try. it was rubber.
I am no chef but have been around many people cooking and and i always recall stuffing being soft and loose. The stuffing here was compressed and white in the middle. Nothing like the real thing.
roast potatoes are frozen and not cooked at all. they looked like a roast potatoe but tasted nothing like one. Like chewing on a dusty tennis ball.
I was offered a free icecream that i would normally take up but what i had eaten of the other part of the meal, put me right off leaving me not 100% to eat anything else.
There are not many carvery's about these days but toby will not be on my to go to carvery any more.
Good and bad
The meat on the carvery was absolutely delicious, But, the vegetables and roast potatoes looked and tasted like they had been there from the day before .
On a plus note, the staff were excellent, and very professional and helpful, apart the the gentleman carving the meat , who was curt and had obviously had a bad day
Bathgate Carvery.
14 May 2026 mid afternoon. Went to Bathgate Carvery for a meal. The atmosphere was good with a friendly welcome. Decided on the carvery. Hardly anyone in at this time. Went to get my food and hardly any meat left. A very small dried up piece of gammon and exactly the same for the pork. Full turkey available. I was told that I would have to have the pork and gammon from the displayed meat as they have to use up all the meat to prevent waste. Some vegetable dishes were dried up.
I have had good meals at this place before but those were at times when it was busy and the food was fresh. So, it would appear they do not look after the food when it is quiet. It just dries up as it is not covered up.
Logging in
Trying to log into my Toby Carvery account & I forgot my password (haven't used it in a while) but when you click on forgot password it takes you back to the main screen, no where to change the password. Have emailed Toby but no response. Thought I would try them again after a couple of bad experiences & being told things have improved in my local Toby. Are they interested in customers or do I forget it.
Toby Carvery in Langley 399 London Road, Slough
We visited Toby Carvery in Langley for our daughter’s first birthday, and Lili made the whole experience absolutely wonderful. She was outstanding from start to finish — so friendly, attentive, and incredibly helpful throughout our visit.
We had a table of 13 guests, and Lili handled everything so smoothly, making sure everyone was looked after and comfortable. She went above and beyond to make our daughter’s birthday feel extra special, even bringing out her birthday cake and leading a lovely singalong with us.
It’s people like Lili who make you want to return again and again. Her kindness, professionalism, and warm personality truly made our celebration memorable. Thank you, Lili, for making our daughter’s birthday such a special treat!
Slough Toby Carvery…
I regularly visit Slough Toby Carvery with a group of friends & the carvery is excellent & good value for money. We are usually served by Sharon who remembers us and provides efficient friendly service hence we keep going back.

We had breakfast on Saturday 9th May at Goring Rd Worthing which was a lovely as always
But was made a better experience by the service we received from Vicky
We then popped in on Monday for a roast once again food superb abd once again served by Vicky she has some of the best customer service skills we have experienced in a long time
Toby goring toilets were terrible
Toby goring toilets were terrible, one out of order, the other one had no lock on the door. No toilet paper in the gents, this is not exceptional.
25 Guests Welcome. One Disabled Guest? Apparently Not.
We’re booking as a group of approximately 25, and one member of our group has ARFID along with food allergies, which makes eating out extremely difficult.
We contacted the restaurant in advance to ask whether we could bring some supplementary food for them to have alongside their meal, as there was very little on the menu they could safely eat. We were told a flat no because our food “might contaminate others during the visit.”
To be honest, the response felt dismissive and lacking any willingness to accommodate someone with a recognised eating disorder and medical dietary restrictions. We weren’t asking to replace the restaurant’s food or cause disruption, just trying to make sure one person could comfortably attend a group event.
It’s disappointing when basic understanding and flexibility seem completely absent.
Pros are the food is really tasty
Pros are the food is really tasty, both breakfast and carvery have always been spot on. Cons are the crazy discount system they have. Recently we visited the Lytham Toby, and had an offer where kids eat for £1 for each paying adult. However, because the well meaning waiter scanned our reward stamps on the app too, it cancelled out the kids eat for £1, so cost us £13 more. I paid via apple pay without realising the mistake. I complained and the message said they would be in contact within 48 hours. A week later I still haven’t been contacted.
My advice is check the deals at the start of the meal, when you arrive, and then check the amount before you pay.
Washington branch disappointing
Visited Washington branch and ordered salmon en croute, loads of puff pastry which I had to dissect to find any salmon - I’ve honestly seen more fish in a fish finger! Veg was all Luke warm, cauliflower cheese was just mush, peas dried up and shrivelled, very messy serving area with dropped food which wasn’t cleaned up. Also was charged 99p for a ‘baby bowl’ for a young baby in our party who was too young to eat anything.
