Not what I was looking for

Not what I was looking for. Did not realize little discs come that must be planted in a particular manner. Was looking for an easy way to get water lilies for my pond.

We're sorry you were disappointed.

TN Nursery is a bare-root nursery, and our Water Lilies are intentionally shipped as dormant rhizomes—not mature, blooming plants. The product page includes photos of the actual rhizomes customers receive, so the product is represented accurately.

Water Lily rhizomes require time to establish after planting. Three weeks is often not enough time for dormant rhizomes to begin producing visible growth, especially depending on water temperature and growing conditions.

We appreciate your patience and hope you'll be pleasantly surprised as they become established. As a small, family-owned nursery, reviews stating the product was misleading, when the listing accurately shows what is shipped, can unintentionally harm our business.

I was very excited when I placed my order on May15th,2026.You had droughts issues and did not. Receive order til June 15. Nothing has come up at all. Somewhere I read that in takes a year to grow??? I never heard of that. Something should have sprouted up by now! I think I have given my plants enough time to have shoots appear today is August 1st. I will call to ave a refund.

We're sorry to hear you're disappointed.

We did experience weather-related harvesting delays during part of the season, and we appreciate your patience. Many of our bare-root perennial plants spend their first growing season establishing strong root systems underground and often do not produce visible top growth until the following spring. While it may seem unusual, this is normal for many perennial species.

We understand it can be frustrating not to see immediate growth, but many of these plants are establishing below the soil and will emerge next spring.

My delivery was great. Unfortunately, after I planted my order an animal came along and dug them all up. So, I guess I won’t me enjoying the milk weed I purchased.

Not impressed

Took forever to receive items, the "damp" substrate put on the roots was dry and roots had moved all around in the bag. One was DOA, the other finally leafed out and seems to be growing well

We're sorry to hear you were disappointed.

If one plant has already leafed out and is growing well, that indicates the shipment itself arrived viable. Bare-root plants can establish at different rates, and if another plant failed shortly after planting, factors such as transplant shock, weather, soil conditions, or growing conditions may have affected its establishment.

We appreciate your feedback and are glad to hear that one of your plants is growing successfully. Thank you for giving our family-owned nursery the opportunity to serve you.

You have all the correspondence between…

You have all the correspondence between us on record. I gave you one star because None wasn’t an option!

It comes down to a dishonest and unethical treatment of a customer. I cannot stress enough how horrible this experience was for me! You sent me root stock that was completely ruined because you shipped it on a holiday weekend when temperatures were in the 90's. The bag containing the roots was open. The packing was completely dried out. The roots crumbled in my fingers when I attempted to separate them in order to plant them. Planting dust or bits and pieces of what was once dormant root stock was an act of the absurd!
Your response was divorced from reality. In retrospect, I should have shipped them back and told you what to do with them.
It grieves me to allow anger to overwhelm me. I lost $40 as if I took it in paper currency and cut it up into the same size pieces as the destroyed root stock!
I have also wasted far too much time on this!
For reference in the future, try using a human being to talk to customers. Try taking responsibility instead of telling people they should have paid extra for a guarantee you openly display on your web site as " guaranteed live arrival".
Try listening instead of hiding behind " policies" generated ad nauseum by some automated response mechanism!
I would not do business with this nursery again on a dare!

We're sorry you remain disappointed with your experience.

We respectfully disagree with several of the statements in your review. Our 24-Hour Live Arrival Guarantee covers plants that arrive dead or damaged in transit. It is separate from our extended Plant Protection coverage, which provides additional coverage after planting. These policies are clearly disclosed before purchase.

The timing of shipment around a holiday weekend does not mean we knowingly shipped damaged plants. We carefully package dormant bare-root plants for transit, but once they leave our nursery, carrier delays and weather conditions are outside of our control.

We also use automated responses to ensure customers receive immediate assistance, but every customer has the opportunity to have their concerns reviewed by our support team. We understand our resolution did not meet your expectations, but we acted in accordance with our published policies, which are applied consistently to every customer.

We are a small, family-owned nursery that has proudly served gardeners since 1959, and we strive to treat every customer fairly while standing behind the policies that govern live plant shipments.

We're sorry to hear you're disappointed.

Many of our bare-root rhizomes and perennial plants spend their first growing season establishing strong root systems underground. Although your planting directions mention the optimal planting period, planting in mid-June is still appropriate for many varieties, and it is common for some not to produce visible top growth until the following spring.

We appreciate your patience and hope you'll be pleasantly surprised when they emerge next season.

We're sorry you're concerned about your plants.

For many bare-root perennial plants, it is completely normal not to see visible shoots during the first growing season. Their primary focus is establishing strong root systems underground, and many varieties do not produce top growth until the following spring.

We understand it can be concerning when you don't see immediate growth, but this is a normal part of the establishment process for many bare-root perennials. We hope you'll be pleasantly surprised when they emerge next spring.

Poor planting instructions

Plants arrived as ordered - no issues there. I struggled with your instructions on how to plant -specifically on how to identify the crown in bare root ferns. I counted on some good instructions from you - your video does not match your written instructions (is it really hard to make a vid that follows your written instructions?) and your AI chat was a huge waste of time. Again - the plants seemed fine - customer service was the issue

Thank you for your honest feedback.

We're glad to hear your plants arrived in good condition. We sincerely apologize that our planting instructions were confusing and that the video did not clearly match the written instructions. We also appreciate your comments regarding our AI support.

Your feedback is valuable, and we'll review both our written planting guide and video to make identifying the crown on bare-root ferns clearer and more consistent. Our goal is to make planting as simple as possible, and we appreciate you bringing this to our attention.

Thank you for giving TN Nursery the opportunity to serve you.

We're sorry to hear you were disappointed with your order.

If you received plants that were different from what you ordered, we certainly regret that experience. Many of our bare-root perennial plants also spend their first growing season establishing strong root systems underground and often do not produce visible top growth until the following spring. It is common for only some plants to emerge during the first season while others establish below the soil.

We appreciate your feedback and hope you'll be pleasantly surprised when additional plants emerge next spring.

Great variety of native plants

The buy one get one offer with plants has helped immensely and has allowed a little wiggle room when planting since not everything planted makes it. So far, so good. The plants were well packed and arrived in a timely fashion. The variety of native plants is also great!

We're sorry to hear you're concerned about your Lilies.

Many bare-root Lily varieties spend time establishing their root systems before producing visible top growth. Depending on the variety and growing conditions, they may not emerge until the following spring. It is not uncommon for dormant bare-root lilies to appear inactive during their first season as they establish below the soil.

We appreciate your patience and hope you'll be pleasantly surprised when they emerge next season.

We're sorry to hear you were disappointed.

Bare-root plants can naturally appear brown and limp when they arrive because they are shipped in a dormant state. However, they should not be judged solely by their appearance. We recommend rehydrating them and planting them promptly, as you did.

Many bare-root perennial plants spend their first growing season establishing strong root systems underground and often do not produce visible top growth until the following spring. While they may appear inactive above ground, they are frequently developing below the soil.

We're sorry to hear you were disappointed.

We apologize that your order took longer to ship than expected. During our busy season, processing times can occasionally be longer due to the high volume of orders.

Our Water Lily pellets are shipped as dormant rhizomes, not actively growing plants. Depending on water temperature, sunlight, and growing conditions, they often require time to establish before producing visible growth. It is not uncommon for dormant rhizomes to take several weeks, or even longer, before showing new leaves.

We appreciate your patience and hope you'll begin to see growth as they become established.
