I ordered a skip from Thorntons and found the whole process great from start to finish. They informed me when the driver was on the way and when the skip would be collected. Skip was left exactly where I wanted it and the driver was so nice and helpful.

Amazing staff who are always so helpful, great app and they’ve never missed a collection. Highly recommend!!

I cancelled my household waste account with Thorntons in January 2026 and the experience has been extremely frustrating.

I requested cancellation on January 9th and was told the bins would be collected within 7–10 working days. The bins were emptied and left outside my property ready for collection, however months later they still have not been removed despite multiple follow-ups. Each time I contacted customer service I was told the request had been “raised as a priority”, but no actual collection date was provided.

Another issue is the mandatory €15 per bin cancellation fee. This fee was not clearly highlighted during the sign-up process and there is no clear version history or date on the online terms and conditions showing when it was introduced. When queried, customer service simply stated that it has been part of their policy for years, but could not provide any documentation showing this was clearly presented when I signed up.

Overall the cancellation process has been unnecessarily difficult and poorly handled. Leaving company property sitting outside a customer’s home for months after cancellation is unacceptable and the lack of transparency around cancellation fees is very disappointing.

I didn't have any issues while being an active customer however I chose to leave due to received a better offer from another provider and would have considered returning in the future however the frustration post-cancellation has ensured I will not be returning as a customer.

Absolute cowboys. They sent a text saying the skip would be delivered at 7am. After many calls (and additional charges) it arrived at 1pm. Asked them to collect it at 3pm and they wouldn't. Avoid them.

We've been with Thorntons for nearly 20 years and have found them to be exceptional.
We have experienced kindness, consideration, professionalism, speedy service, swift resolution to any issues and human understanding and interaction.
The latter is something that is missing from so many companies these days and we feel that it is invaluable! I certainly hope that Thorntons never change that aspect of their customer care.
Would highly recommend!

Such a disappointing service from start to finish. Missed bins, left with a full bin for over a weeks (3 weeks in total)
Customer service was terrible, the lack of F's was evident.
Also charged for them to collect their empty bins.

Do not get into contract with Thorntons!
Even if only one of your bins will get collected during the month, you will be paying full price.
They will raise their prices, and refuse to let you end the contract. They rise the €15 cancellation fee to €15/bin = €45, and refuse to set a day to come to take their bins away. I hope consumer affairs is able to help me to get rid of them.

If you want your bins collected, don't use Thorntons. They miss my brown bin collection at least once a month. It's an absolute joke. the compost bin is the most smelly, so it is really really annoying!

I pay for a service, and they just don't bother showing up. The rubbish is piling up, and it smells. It's pure carelessness and bad management.

I'd tell anyone looking for a bin company to look somewhere else. They are completely unreliable and not worth the hassle or the money.

The only good thing is the customer service you can reach over the phone ad they seems to be sound, however they have't done much here as my issue persists since I started the contract which has been a year now! More than 50% collections missed. What a joke of a company!

I ordered a skip from Thorntons and chose the 2 day option knowing I would need 48 hours or close to it to get it full doing a very emotional bereavement clearing. It arrived at 11:30am on Wednesday and on Thursday morning it was gone from my driveway after less than 24 hours. Contacted them and they did not dispute my claim but have no interest in following up or finding a solution. P- poor customer service from Aimee. Do not use this company for skips. I went and got two skip bags afterwards and am out hundreds thanks to Thorntons. At a difficult moment you let a family down badly

Called in relation to bins not being collected got someone called Pamela.

Extremely rude and condescending.

I’ll be moving after that phone call.

Lack of communication.

We have been using Thorntons Waste collection for the past 4 years.

In the past few months our Brown Bin was not being collected. I had to bring this to their attention on several occasions. Still to this day the issue has not been resolved.
Once our contract is up, i will not be renewing.

Communication is non existent is this company.

Had let collection go due to several factors rang them yesterday and very helpful girl resumed collection very next day and was very helpful.

Put the black bin out by accident. Crew emptied brown bin on the driveway and also garden tub of hedge cuttings.Just restored my faith in human decently. Thanks 😊

I spoke twice to an employee namely Jay.
His English was excellent.
He quickly understood and sorted everything with ease.
He was knowledgeable, helpful and a great asset to Thorntons.

Worse service ever!!! Never delayed with any payment in 4 years. They don't collect the bin. Made complain ignorant service!

I have been customer with Thorntons Recycling over 10 year, today my black bin was not collected due to low account balance there was still 5 euro on it, this is the first time it happened in 10 years that my account balance was low and i forgot to top up and my bin was not collected. At least they could have picked the bin as long as account is not in negative. They offer new customer one month free and that's how they treat old customer. Absolute rubbish customer service.

A representative of the company came to our door offering a good deal. I wanted to discuss it with my husband before agreeing, so asked him to return the next day, and he promised he would. That was six weeks ago. I contacted the company after three weeks to see if we could arrange something, and they have completely ignored me. Terrible customer service, I would have signed up if he'd only done what he promised.

My bin wasn't emptied I phoned and was dealt with by Mya very helpful phoned me back and arranged for the bin to be emptied the following day. I wasn't expecting this level of service so we'll impressed.

I have been a client of Thorntons Recycling for over 20 years. When I ring them and speak with Leoon one feels like a valued customer. She is friendly, courteous and helpful. As a retiree I need to keep an eye on all costs but I value dependable service.

I am a customer with Thorntons for years. In 2021 my son and his family moved in. There was then the beautiful addition of twins. My bins were heavier so my tariff increased. They all moved to their own home in Dec '23.
This week I got an email from thorntons telling me they had noticed my bins were much lighter in '24. Not only did they drop the price of my tarrif but they put my account in credit.
I am blown away with the BRILLIANT CUSTOMER CARE. Thank you.
