Waste of time and money

Do Not Use. Customer Service is horrible and website is not intuitive. I was promised full refund via their clunky booking instructions but they kept $89.

Refused my refund, gaslit me that I didnt phone them - TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE

What an experience to get shafted by trainline. I bought the tickets, showed up to my destination fine. Scanned it, I had shown up a week early.

Sure, it was my mistake I completely own up to it. The station made me buy a ticket for the correct date, so i no longer needed my incorrect, week-from-now ticket. So i call trainline to get it refunded.

They wanted to see the new tickets I purchased, so they made me take a picture of them and then attach them to an email. Thats fine, simple enough.

They said I would receive a refund and an email receipt confirming my refund.

It has been 2 weeks trainline. No response, nothing. Apparently all record of that first phonecall is gone. They refuse to refund me for tickets I dont need.

Lesson learned! ONLY BUY FROM CARRIERS OF THE STATIONS THEMSELVES!!

Awful

Booked a train for my 5 year old son and I to travel to Carfiff for a Monster Jam event. It was a multi train journey from Okehampton. My son is very nervous and it was hia first time on a train. We were not given a chance to reserve a seat through trainline. For the majority o the journey, my son and I had to sit on the floor. We paid the same high prices as everyone else on the train, but were not able to have a seat. So I assume trainline sell tickets knowing there it is overloaded. Speaking to other passengers, it seems this is fairly standard.

Booked ticket from Thirsk to Manchester…wish I’d driven

Booked ticket from Thirsk to Manchester Airport hours before travel only to get to Manchester Victoria and asked a female member of staff which platform I need. Walked from platform 3 to 6 only to be told no direct trains to airport and to take the tram. 70 minutes later I arrived at the airport having luckily given myself plenty of time. 4 hours 30 mins in total for this journey! I wish I’d driven as I’m going to have the same issue when I return apparently. Male staff at Victoria I approached were surly and offhand. Very unimpressed

Poor usability

First, the app is confusing.

The fact there are walking portions isn't clear. The travel summary is simply crap and not intuitive.

Then, booking a connection eg Manchester Piccadilly to Victoria, not making clear whether a tram is included, and also it's not close enough so I had to book a taxi and sprint for it.

Really, could be a lot better.
