Drybar Topanga Village

I’ve been a loyal customer at Drybar for several years, and every single appointment I’ve had has involved a 15–20 minute wait. I’ve never made an issue of it. I understand how salons work and don’t expect to be seated at the exact minute of my appointment.

Today was different. I had a 1:45 pm appointment on a busy Sunday. After circling the village looking for parking, I called at 1:55 pm to let them know I had just parked and was walking over. I was told they would not take me because I was past their 10-minute grace period.

I went in anyway and spoke with the manager, who was completely unaccommodating. When I explained that I’ve consistently waited 15–20 minutes at this location, her response was, “Well today we’re running on time.”

That’s wild to me.

It’s apparently acceptable for customers to wait well past their appointment time, but the one time a loyal, repeat client is a few minutes late…after proactively calling…they’re dismissed without any flexibility or regard. That’s poor service and a clear double standard.

Dry Bar Penn Quarter is not interested in customer experience

Dry Bar Penn Quarter in DC - nice staff, but the owner will make you regret you ever brought your business here. Have been once before (and they made me wait an additional 45 minutes for my appointment, told me to go wait in a coffee shop on the corner), tried to go a second time, and the owner was so rude and uninterested in the customer experience, I will avoid this place forever more. I guess some people aren't interested in making money.

Dishonest and bad business

I was completely dissatisfied with DryBar Scherville, IN. The first time we went my 17-year-old daughter wanted a silk press for her hair. We went because they were offering a first timers discount. Her hair was pressed straight it looked nice and 2 hours later it was a big poof and her scalp was seriously dry with flakes. A few weeks later she wanted to try it again because she liked how it looked when it was straight and we needed something quick for an event. She went in and spoke to someone about it and came back to tell me they had a membership which would make it cheaper. I informed her I did not want her to get in a long contract with anyone because of her age and if the second time was like the first it would be a waste of money. She went in and informed them of my concerns and came back and asked me to call. (I was unable to walk because of a fractured hip otherwise would have gone in). I called and was told that she could cancel at any time there was no minimum time for the membership. She (again 17) signed up and the second time was a different stylist with the same results. A week later she tried to cancel and was told she had to keep the membership for 3 months. I was upset because that was not what I was told. She ended up paying for another 2 months. Because she paid, I wanted to make sure that she got what she paid for. Today she went for one of the credits they did her hair she came out and said they now said she had to use both credits because of the thickness of her hair. She had the same thickness the first 2 times but because they don't want to do right, they told her at checkout she had to use both credits. $90 to shampoo, blow-dry and straighten her hair, if we paid the regular price, it would not have been $90 it had never been more because of the thickness of her hair. Bad business. Then when I called to speak someone, it keeps going to voicemail, but she said there are receptionist in there they let the phone ring and go to voicemail then call you back. I don't like bad business. I am going to review them on every site I can because this is bad business and they are double charging her because she is no longer coming back but she has the credits. Bad business and dishonest for sure.

Dry Bar at Nordstrom Columbus Circle…

Dry Bar at Nordstrom Columbus Circle has gone completely downhill. I treated my sister to a 45 minute blowdry with Eleanor that was terrible, ($64) lasted 25 minutes and all Eleanor cared about was rushing to next client and did not listen to what type of blowout my sis wanted. In fact she really did not care. Get em in and get em out. When I complained they basically told me they were sorry. This is not the first issue I have had there. Stay away. Fire the current team including the manager. Place is terrible. Been to many locations and the company has lost its way. Next time going to Bergdorf for a $35 one there M-W.

Very disappointed

Very disappointed, with my Drybar hair blower. I’ve had it for less then 1 year and it started throwing fire 🔥 wow, so I called drybar customer service and they were totally so unprofessional, I will never purchase nothing from them again, after spending $240 on hair dryer and thinking it was the best lol it’s not. Horrible! Definitely don’t buy it!

Drybar RIP off - multiple subscriptions???

I was using Drybar several times a month due to marketing videos. I set up a subscription. I visited several locations....Balboa Bay Club and Fashion Island and most recently the spectrum. Over the next year my cc was hacked and it was the card on file. At that point I had decided to cancel the subscription, so I just let it go, giving up all the stored up blowouts. A few months later I went back to get a blow out and just pay for it. Then I discover I have an active subscription. It was at that point I learned that each Drybar can set up their own subscription for you. So I have TWO running at the same time. The gal at The Spectrum directed me to speak with the regional CS rep. She would call me and expect to speak with me. I was in the middle of meetings and was given a specific window in which I needed to call her back. I said I wanted a full credit for the subscription I had not been using. She offered to reimburse me for 90 days of one account.

Here is my issue....why did they not tell me I had multiple accounts. They all had the same phone number. I have now found stylists to do the blow out for half the cost and I consistently get the same stylist, not a roll of the dice. Never again

Buyer Beware - DryBar "Double the Size" Can of Original Scent Dry Shampoo

I've been purchasing the original scent of DryBar's Detox Dry Shampoo for a few years directly from their website. I started with the medium-sized can. The past three times, I bought the "double the size" can. Big mistake if you don't finish the can within the first 60-days of receiving it.
The first time I got a large can, it stopped working towards the end. I called customer service, and they could care less.
The second time I called, the girl was trying to be helpful by telling me how they tell customers to try heating the can under hot water. That alone tells me they know there's an issue but refuse to do anything about it.
Now, towards the end of my third (and last) large can, it sounded like there were rocks inside. I called customer service again. She sounded like the first girl I spoke with initially, who didn't really care about the quality of their product. She only cared that I was out of the 60-day warranty period.
I suggested they put a warning on the can, so consumers know to use it within a certain timeframe. She said the shelf life is two years. I wonder how old that can was when I received it.....

I went to Drybar Anaheim hills for an updo and showed the stylist a photo of the style I want and she kept playing with my hair for half an hour and failed to do anything and when I asked her to just curl my hair she used a straightener instead of a curler claiming it will last longer. I was so disappointed and I will never go there

Lack of Communication / Lack of Compassion

I placed an order with DryBar online to take advantage of a sale. Order was placed on 6/30. In these days of Amazon, I almost expect a pacakge to arrive within 1-3 days. But, I did not order from Amazon. (Ironically, I went and looked and Amazon did have the same deal, so, I should have ordered from them.)

I should also add that the order was a bit of a splurge on my part - not a huge spend, $180, but, a splurge.

On 7/3 I got a notice that my order was on its way, via FedEx.
FedEx noted a 7/5/25 delivery date.
7/5 came and went. FedEx no longer offered a delivery date.
7/6 I emailed DryBar looking for an update. No response to my email
7/7 Rather than a response to my email, I got a note "while you are waiting for your order" trying to entice me to buy something else. Are you serious? A little tone deaf. I replied to this email, they did not respond
7/7 I called DryBar, they told me to call FedEx
7/7 called FedEx, they said I had to deal with DryBar and ask them to escalate.
7/7 I again wrote DryBar with the information that they needed to escalate. Again, no response.
7/9 I received a notice that my order had been delivered. FedEx offered a picture of someone's door. Not mine.
7/9 I called FedEx they said I have to call DryBar.
7/9 I email DryBar with all of the information, the picture that was sent, and a picture of my actual door. I let them know that my intent had been to take the products with me on a trip on 7/11, and at this point had been waiting two weeks. I asked for help and what to do.
7/10 they responded:

Hello!
Thank you for your email.
We will be happy to file the claim with FedEx it could take up to 4-6 week for the claim to finalized and once that is done we will be happy to reprocess your order if FedEx allows us to dispute if they do not then we are unable to reprocess the order. We would not be able to refund at anytime once the claim is finalized as well.

So Please allow us 4-6 weeks to be able to get everything process through FedEx. Once we received the confirmation from FedEx we will then reach back out to you.

A little compassion would have gone a long way here, but, there was none. Even, an "I am so sorry, I understand this is disappointing"

If I were on the custom service end, I would have offered to overnight the package to the client to make sure they had the products they wanted/needed for the trip. I would then deal with the claim with FedEx on my own.

But, no. . . No apology, no compassion, nothing, basically the message from DryBar is "not my problem"

FWIW, I did try escalating to a manager, and got the same response.

Of the 9 emails I sent, they responded to one.

So depended on franchise owner

So depended on franchise owner

Ridiculously unaccommadating and worst customer service
I booked for my birthday months in advance and got stuck in traffic and was running 15 minutes late and they refused to do anything despite the fact they have run 15-30 minutes late

Go to crystal city or Reston where the franchise owner actually cares about their customers

Drybar on 3rd- HORRIBLE MANAGER- VALERIE GONZALES

Drybar on 3rd street parking has a horrible lack of parking and to make matters worse the manager VALERIE GONZALES is inhumane. My daughter and I showed up to our appointment, literally 6 minutes after our w healed time and they weren’t going to take us. The level of gaslighting and u professionalism that occurred is astonishing: She said they have a ZERO grace period. When I asked her to show me the policy is took her 12 minutes to find a BE policy on being late that says nothing about a zero grace period. Why would anyone be so rude on a little girls birthday and show such disrespect. I WILL NEVER SUPPORT THIS BUSINESS AND I WILL SHARE THIS EXPERIENCE W EVERYONE. What a disappointment!

Never again…

I have never been to an appointment here that started on time. The typical wait is 20-30 minutes even when they are not busy- it’s as if the stylists are told to come in late, start late and inconvenience every client who walks in the door. While some of the stylists are good- it’s impossible to request someone. This will be my last time at Drybar! I’ve tried 3 times to get a blowout and it’s always the same run around- clients wait and wait and the staff and management don’t seem concerned. It is a company built on irritating and inconveniencing the customer.

Absolutely archaic customer service

Absolutely archaic customer service. I ordered a product direct from the website using my apple pay. Unfortunately, right after I ordered I saw that my apple pay has my old address. I immediately sent them a note with my order number & new address. Note, there is no way to chat them or call before/after business hours. First thing in the morning, i called the number to change the address.

They told me there was no way to do this. That once the order is placed it can't be cancelled or changed. I now have to wait & hope that my old building will return it at which time they will re-process the order.

Excuse this language but like WTF! Why would you ever order a product through this company. If you want something from drybar, order through Amazon and don't put yourself in the position to just be out $$.

Rude customer service and does not honor discounts

I ordered online directly from the company to support the business. They did not honor the discount they sent to me when I ordered. I called customer service and talked to a rude rep that said I could use it next time. I called back and got an even ruder rep that wouldn't honor it. Do not order directly from them. Use Amazon, Nordstrom or any other vendor that doesn't bait and switc.

Horrible website experience!

I had a gift card for a blowout in the local dry bar salon, but both locations near me closed during the pandemic, so I used it to buy products online. Drybar was the worst online purchase and customer service experience I’ve ever had. The website went down for maintenance right after I registered for emails and texts. I couldn’t order, and had to reset my password after waiting several days for their site to come back up. Then, they never sent me a 10% off coupon, as promised. I bought over $120.00 of products at full price, and while I was waiting (over a week and a half) for them to ship, I got a email regarding their Labor Day sale. Their entire website was 30% off. I called about my order status and to ask for a credit for the sale and they would not credit me for 30%, although my order hadn’t even shipped yet. In addition, they would not even give me the 10% off I was initially promised for that purchase and said I could use it in the future. Ok.

Then I get an email from customer service after the rep investigated why I never got the 10% off code and she said it was because their website was being restructured after I registered…no code provided again. Then, she never replied when I asked her, “are you sending the discount code for future purchases?” No code and no response.

When I finally received my order, two items were not included and were missing from the shipping manifest. I had to call them AGAIN, because the receipt didn’t explain why they weren’t included. I was told that they ran out of the items. Why not just say that on the shipping receipt?!? I don’t even know if I ever got a credit. Horribly unprofessional and rude customer service. I used to work at a high end retail beauty store, and there are much better products and service out there.

Terrible service.

Terrible service.
If you like getting burnt by the hair dryer, hair pulled from the brush, no heat protection used, and your hair looking worse than when you went in..
This would be the place to go.
I sent an email with information on why I was not happy about the service and no one reached out to me,
It seemed like they will hire any hair technician with zero experience. If you want to pay for a horrible service, try the Drybar!

I hope no one goes there who actually has something important to go to because you will be hugely disappointed.

TERRIBLE COMPANY

ORDER NO. 1000710796 on 6/2/24. Incident #'s 240602-000064 and 240603-000354 on 6/3/24. If I could use 0 stars I would. TERRIBLE customer service after on-line purchase. I cancelled purchase within minutes of placing order (long story why) and they ignored my emails and immediately sent purchase confirmation email, then immediately sent "Order Shipped" email. They had received 5 cancellation emails from me with "automatic response" to 2 of them, then processed and shipped order. Because they know they will also give me the runaround about return. I will not give up! They are a HORRIBLE company with NO customer service.
