My local Newton Abbot Crustyloaf store…

My local Newton Abbot Crustyloaf store is fabulous. Firstly, I would like to thank the staff who are always lovely but particularly Kerri who is always chatty and gives fabulous customer service with a smile. The shop is lways clean and well organised.
I buy bread regularly at this bakery and it's always fresh and tasty and Kerri and the other staff always give me the option of slicing my bread which I prefer. Nothing is any trouble for them. I have also bought the chicken pastys which are also lovely and occasionally buy the Danish pastries which are absolutely delicious.
Overall I recommend people to try this lovely bakery

We used to love The Crusty Loaf in…

We used to love The Crusty Loaf in Coleford for its excellent artisan bakery products, lovingly served by nannas in tabards. Unfortunately, our recent visit was a massive disappointment—so much so that even Greggs would have been a classier choice.

The bread rolls were nothing like the quality we once knew; instead, they resembled cheap, mass-produced white bread, the kind you’d find at a roadside burger van (which, frankly, would have been better). The cherry Chelsea buns were just a dense mass of dough, with only the top portion even remotely enjoyable.

The worst offender, however, was the sausage roll. A pitiful amount of pale, flavorless pork slurry was entombed in a limp, low-quality pastry. It was so bad it felt like they had just picked up a pack of mass-produced goods from the local Happy Shopper and passed them off as their own.

It’s such a shame to see a once-great bakery succumb to cost-cutting and reduced quality. That said, we did spot some beautifully decorated little Valentine’s cakes, so someone there still seems to care about their craft. If only that care extended to everything else.

Local Friendly Family Artisan Bakery

The Crusty Loaf is a wonderful friendly family owned traditional Artisan bakery.

We used The Crusty Loaf commercially for over 20yrs who supplied to our fast food retail business.

No order was too big or small for them and the variety is amazing, hence they we're our 1st point of call for personal bread for home too. What we found invaluable was advance ordering and booked / timed deliveries due to on our account.

As the bakery is family owned, the quality in products and ingredients was always consistent which was important to us and our customers.

We would always recommend!
