Valentines Day Dinner

I booked a Valentine’s Day dinner with high expectations, but unfortunately my experience was disappointing due to poor communication, long waits, and inconsistent information.
I paid a £40 deposit and was initially told it would be deducted from the final bill. The night before, I received a message saying it would be refunded in person. When I arrived, I was then told it would be refunded back to the card. This lack of clarity was frustrating and felt disorganised.
Additionally, when I made the reservation by phone, I was told that one drink per person was included with the set menu. On the day, this was not honoured and we had to pay for drinks separately. This significantly increased the final cost.
Service on the night was also disappointing. Our main course arrived around 40 minutes after we finished our starters. It was clear the waiter was overwhelmed and it felt like our table had been forgotten. I also ordered a bottle of water because drinks were taking a long time, yet even the water took a while to arrive.
To make matters worse, once we finished eating, staff began trying to rush us off the table, which took away from what should have been a relaxed Valentine’s experience.
The atmosphere was mixed. The music at the start of the evening was nice, but when the DJ began playing, the music became very loud and didn’t match the Valentine’s Day vibe at all.
The set menu was £80 per person, and with drinks and a 20% service charge added, the total came to £260 — far more than expected given what was communicated at booking. A 20% service charge is also quite steep, especially when the service and communication did not meet expectations.
Overall, the evening felt misrepresented and poorly handled. I hope management improves transparency, organisation, and customer care so future guests don’t have the same experience.

Great BUT......

Service was first class and the ambience and overall atmosphere was pure Park Lane.

However the primary reason one goes to a restaurant is to eat and drink and i'm sorry to say but they have fallen short here.

Their red meet (lamb) was fatty and not tender. I did not enjoy it at all. The Lamb Shank was flavourless too and my wife was not keen.

The two things they got right was the chicken and the cold starters.

The drinks were also pure syrup and catering cartons of juice. Not fresh ingredients which one would expect for the price.

I would return but only for starters and chicken dish.

They are super in some areas but need to sort out the fatty lamb which needs to be chewed for 5 mins before swallowing.
