Symantec (Norton AntiVirus
Symantec (Norton AntiVirus, Norton 360 etc) has become an automated "couldn't care less about customers" business that hides away when things go wrong. If you feel like having a frustrating day buy from them. Their support is almost exclusively automated, both online & on the telephone. Their Tech Support staff don't really know what they are doing & my experience shows that they can cause you hours of work once they have finished due to changes made & programs shut down during remote access support without your consent. There also seems to be a lot of invasive "add-ons" in their software that harvest your data & usage activities for no good reason. There is no complaints procedure & their staff (when you've spent 3 hours plus trying to resolve matters with them) tell you that they will learn from the experience & not address the problems they have caused you. Thankfully I have 60 days to cancel, which after 15 years I will be doing. They need to learn that customers are humans & not robots, which is all they employ these days - time to appreciate that every Credit Card payment is from someone who should be valued.... oh & by the way £29.99 today is £149.99 at renewal so don't get caught out.
35 yrs with Norton, time to change
I've been with Symantec / Norton since the 1990s but am now looking for alternatives. In particular, even though I pay for the top level of Norton Security, it keeps telling me I have a vulnerable driver and the only way to fix it is to pay more money. I've checked with the driver providers and it is a spurious notification, and there is no update. There doesn't seem to be any way to switch this notification off. If there is a risk to security, why am I paying through the nose for Norton Security? You either provide security or you don't. I'm not interested in "a bit" of security.
Worst company I've come across in 25 years in IT
Symantec was never a really customer friendly company however now that Broadcom has bought Symantec they managed to make it even worse. It's so bad I don't even know where to start. It's obvious they have no clue what technical support is. Their KB's just loop you around and really don't have any use. No in depth resolutions for anything. Their support desk is only sales focused and very rude. It's amazing that after working in IT for 25 years there's still a "customer support" that can frustrate me to this level. The worst I've come across ever.
Norton Internet Security not Ad-Free
Norton Internet Security not Ad-Free
I have been using Norton for over 20 years and not until the 2021 version have I had so many ad's but not from websites or 3rd party programs which Norton usually stops but these are from Norton begging me to renew the subscription. I used to get a courtesy remind around 30 days now I get multiple with offers and more from 70 days. This is not what I pay Norton for. Myself and my family members who use it are sick of 1st party popups and constant browser extension installation ad's that don't disable after pressing "Don't Show Again" has made me to decide to look somewhere else then Norton or keep to Microsoft.
What a disappointment
What a disappointment, they have been taking money from my late mother back account, and do not want to talk about it, can not get to speak to any one in the uk, there call centre created a bogus credit not, wrote to there head office nothing, keep clear of them
Excellent costumer service
Had a defective piece. Sent symtec an email, got a response right away from Eric.
I told him the problem and he sent me a replacement part the very next day.
I wish every company was like this. Very impressed.
Customer dis-service
Their customer service is non existent. Keep you in the chat queue for ages then when you get to 1st it either drops out or keeps you at number one for an hour. Posn in queue also moves up and down constantly.
So awful I have now cancelled my renewal and will go elsewhere.
Absolutely no aspect of this antivirus is any good whatsoever and the support is even worse
I constantly have problems with my Norton antivirus. If it actually launches (it often just has a pop up saying Pending.... and nothing happens) it fails to detect viruses. I have had to use the free Malwarebytes tool to detect and remove a virus that sailed past Norton, even though I have the paid Norton 360 Premium version from Symantec. I have had my account suddenly show that I am on a trial that has expired, even though I have paid a years subscription, so the computers have no antivirus cover and they have to start the whole process again from scratch (once when they were talking me through the process of uninstalling and reinstalling it, they omitted to uninstall a part of the software and left my computer unable to connect with the internet - Apple found the problem after 3 hours with their support even though Norton said it couldn't be anything to do with them and refused to help further). I can't contact an agent on the 'phone us' option as I fill in my details and press NEXT - and get taken back to the main contact us page. I can't contact them on chat because I never get my turn in the queue. I get to No1 in the queue or to "An agent will be with you shortly" then suddenly I'm back at 7th in the queue - and so on, never ever getting to speak to an agent. If I could give them zero stars, I would.
Dubious Subscription Renewal Practices
I purchased Norton 360 which had a default auto renewal setting, and 5 weeks before it was due for renewal, they emailed to say the renewal subscription would be £84.99 (almost 4 times the standard purchase cost from retailers like Amazon ). I turned off the auto renewal setting and deleted my billing information (in case they took payment anyway), and then they emailed me to offer me a renewal at £29.99. They also tuned off part of my service without notifying me. It transpires that what they call "premium" services (performance tuning etc) are only active when you have auto renewal set on, so when I turned the auto renewal off, they also turned off my "premium" services without advising me. Given I do not want to place the security of my devices with a company that operates this way, I have let the subscription lapse, and have now purchased and installed Bitdefender, which is not only a better product, but is also sensibly priced at £27.99. If you are considering using Symantec, please be aware of the above, in particular the very expensive subscription renewal prices, and the unethical practices they follow to keep your business. A very disappointing experience, and not a company I will ever use again.
support is awful even before broadcom
support is awful even before broadcom. opened a ticket two weeks ago. don't see any traction in ticketing system after 2 days. went on chat, was told since new license period haven't begin, can't dl the new keys. waited two days after license period started, check ticketing system, still no traction. tried calling, but was on hold. gave up. came back today, still no update. called and was told the ticket got transfer & got lost in the shuffle. but did get answer finally.
DO NOT BUY!!!
If it's possible to give zero star, I would!! What a lousy antivirus software. Their support is almost useless. They managed to link up their useless platform to another useless platform - broadcom interface.
SYMANTEC ANSWERS TO NOBODY!!!!
Symantec thinks it is OK to debit people's checking or savings account without authorization. When you attempt to contact them they have a way to state their queue is full and place you on a multi hour hold. I will never use this product again and would caution anybody who is thinking of doing so. Since when does ANY Company get to do an auto renewal a month prior to a subscription termination date without any notification or authorization. OH, OH, I forgot, Silicon Valley millionaires answer to nobody.
Absolutely dreadful company
Absolutely dreadful company. This final incident was a business-to-business engagement, they screwed up which caused my customer problems. My customer wants answers about what broke but Symantec won't talk to me! Am checking about contract breach now but it shouldn't come to this, they have no pride in themselves.
Norton 360 Issues
I am using Norton products since 1980s with advent of first PCs. My most recent experience is terrible. I have a Mac laptop, and Norton 360 was working fine until I installed BigSur OS 11.1. Norton 360 says setup needs to be completed. I can not uninstall Norton 360 nor complete the setup. Norton support tossed the problem to Apple. Apple engineers worked on the issue for two weeks and concluded the issue with Norton. Now, I have to wipe clean hard drive and reinstall other apps leaving Norton out. This is taking up so much time on my end, and all I get transferred to dept. to dept. and problem continues. Only option I have is to get rid of Norton altogether.
Dubious business practises - need card details before using software
I've been using Norton Security and Norton 360 for years. I always bought it from a local shop for around £20 and just entered the activation key in the package. But now they require that to be able to activate it you must enter your credit card details and automatic renew is on by default at an inflated price of £84.99. They say that it's now policy and you have to enter your billing details and then can later choose to not auto-renew at the inflated price. But if I buy the software from a shop I've already paid for it and shouldn't need to provide my personal contact details and credit card details to be able to use the software. If you look through the Norton forums, MSE forums, and TrustPilot reviews for Norton.com and Symantec.com then you'll see endless complaints from unhappy people who have been charged inflated prices over a month before their 1 year contract ended. The stress of dealing with dubious business practises is not worth it and they've now lost me as a long-term customer.
I payd for a service that i never got.
I payd for a service that i never got.
They lie by contact, and even with billing proof i still got nothing.
So i took Bitdefender and take legal action agains Symantec. Be carefull, they are a thief company.
Terrible way to operate a business
Terrible way to operate a business. Automatically charing a £98 renewal for a product you can purchase on Amazon for £22 yearly. Taking payment automatically - 1 month before it expires unless you cancel it and no email provided for customer support. This is not the way to do business or treat your customers.
Terrible company
Terrible company, have gotten even worst since Broadcom bought them. They take your money and don't provide the service you pay for. Everything is always down and their support is useless.
Causes constant blue screens of death…
Causes constant blue screens of death of Windows 10 64bit, and ruined my internet speed. Not worth it.
Automatic Renewing Subscription Fraud
I have been a customer for over 15 years and recently I have been getting a couple of emails from Symantec stating I have enrolled in an automatic renewing subscription which is not true, I have already emailed them but unfortunately they have chosen to simply ignore my emails.
If you do not remove the automatic renewing subscription from my account I will be forced to file a lawsuit against you.
