Hi, it works well. But since having the new battery, the hand throttle is not engaging, which is annoying, as it is a good way to help you get moving, especially on an incline. Like with the last batt... See more

A great kit, easy to fit, arrived early
I'd read mixed reviews about Swytchbike - less about the product and more about the time delays etc. But wanted to give it a go as it ticked a lot of boxes.
I ordered the kit in March, was told up-front to expect it in August and it arrived in early June. Around 3 months after the first order.
I'm a complete novice, but the set-up and installation was easy, the manual was clear and I had it up and running in a few hours. It was actually much easier than I'd expected.
Overall, really happy with the product, how it works, and how easy it all was. Appreciate the lead time might be off-putting for some, but for me the end result has worked great.
Product quality great
Product quality great. AI/Bot customer service no so.
Great overall value. Budget time for cable management and be patient with parts of the install.
I bought my kit to convert a steel-frame Surly Preamble. My hope was to preserve some of the character of the bike, and to have an ebike with a more traditional bike-like design as opposed to the chunkier moped styles that are becoming more common. Swytch delivered that.
My delivery landed in the promised window. Not much to say about that: The delivery service provided timely, accurate updates as the kit made its way through the process.
Installation went smoothly using the manual. It helps to have a bike stand when doing the cabling and installing the pedal sensor (which is the fussiest part of the process). It took under an hour to mount a new brake disc, do the core installation, and get the basic cabling done. It took a few rides to ensure that the cabling was truly settled.
The kit operates really well. I've owned three previous ebikes, and the Swytch kit operates about as smoothly and consistently as bikes from Trek and Specialized. With the OLED controller it's easy to get useful information on battery life and speed. Because it's on a pedal sensor you do have to be more active switching gears when rolling up to a stop to ensure you can pedal quickly enough on push-off to engage the motor without smashing the pedals. The hub motor is pretty quiet.
In terms of range/battery life, operating it at level 2 or 3 I was down to 2/5 pips on the battery gauge when I crossed the lower end of the promised 30-40 miles of range. It smoothly hits and holds the top speed of 18mph on level 2 and delivers all the promised range plus some. I think it could probably hit 40 miles at level 3.
There are two things that cost it the fifth star:
- Cabling is pretty messy. This is understandable given the kit could be mounted on all sorts of frames, but there's a lot of excess to manage, so have plenty of zip ties handy and expect to have a few service loops hanging off the bike.
- Installing the pedal sensor and magnets is relatively simple, but getting it dialed in such that the sensor registers a turn of the crank every time took some effort and felt fussy. Some of that may have been due to a little clutter on my bike's frame where the sensor needed to mount. I'm assuming the design has to be that way to reliably register pedaling quickly and responsively, but if you're thinking "I've got a cadence sensor, how fussy can this be?" the answer is "much fussier": Each kind of sensor has a different job.
Great Customer service
Great Customer service. All orders came in great condition!
Good experience so far
From ordering to receiving the kit took around a month, which I was happy with. Installation wasn’t the easiest and I did struggle fitting it, but once everything was set up it worked perfectly.
A few days after delivery I also got a call from customer service checking that I’d received everything, that the kit was working properly, and explaining how to get support if I needed it. I also found their help articles useful when I ran into a few installation issues.
Overall, everything has worked as expected and I’m happy with my purchase so far.
Good customer service experience
Good customer service experience.
Have been using the Swytch kit for a few years now and have had to reached out to customer services a few times regarding different questions, and they had been all quite pleasant.
Swytch kit definitely helps with riding in the city, especially mine with hills after hills. It's also great to get to keep your own original bike and get electrified.
It's weird how extreme the reviews are
It's weird how extreme the reviews are. I bought two kits which arrived within the time frame. They have both been great. I event o order a different cable and that came promptly too.
In engineering terms, the reliance on the front dropouts only, to deliver the required torque, is dreadful. I have fitted good quality (not Swytch) torque arms on both sides of both bikes.
Next to ZERO customer service
They have been operating like a startup company since 2018. There is NO Customer Service Telephone number or email address or in fact an address, to contact if you have problems. All replies via ANY of their Social Media Accounts or Website is by Ai reply. Often referring you to web pages that you do not have access to!
Their website is complicated to actually order a kit. PLUS once you've paid & ordered there is absolutely ZERO contact to let you know of ANY progress of your order. ZERO! It's so amateurish I'm amazed that Trading Standards haven't shut them down by now. For instance I wanted a Brompton kit. With the handlebar/carrier battery option. HOWEVER I was given the option to of two battery ranges. I went for the smaller cheaper range. Only to find out when the kit eventually arrived it wasn't compatible with a Brompton! WHY GIVE THE OPTION!!
Then went through the absolutely abysmal series of Ai replies to try to get someone to speak to to rectify the mistake. I got so fed up I returned the whole kit & EVENTUALLY after three weeks got my money back. However on Swytch related Facebook pages it turns out I've been incredibly lucky to have got my money back so quickly!! There's some poor souls who have been waiting months just for replies.
I'd advise anyone to totally avoid until they actually:
a) Have a built up stock so they send out good almost immediately. NOT the three to four months they currently work by.
b) They sort out the complicated ordering system.
c) Have a Customer Service Dept with a tele dept. with REAL HUMANS answering
d) Have CLEAR returns policy with addresses etc
Not so sweet SWYTCHBIKE
I would give 0. This company have no respect for costumers. I am currently waiting for cables which I ordered And paid for (straight way money gets out) since the 11th June. They persistently say they have fulfilled the order when UPS tracking still says "waiting for parcel". Today I have to waste yet more money to try and get through UPS. Swytchbike relays entirely on AI to solve problems,do not have a phone nor you can go to a shop to get parts. And yet even though the complaints are thick and fast they continue with they convenient system..taking the money and not given a blip after that. Is not to the responsibility of the costumers to chase for PAID PARTS( PLEASE NOTE THE BIKE IS UNUSABLE SINCE MOTOR ISN'T ENGAGING). The consumer contracts regulations 2013 says you are required to deliver goods ALSO the consumer rights act 2015 entitles me that the goods are delivered none of that is observed by Swytchbike. The kit is ok if you don't run into problems and have to deal whit Alexis(they so handy AI) and be thrown into a circle of hell where nothing moves on and they never get responsibility for they incompetence . I use my bike to work not leasure and this is taking its toll. Not for the first time either.
Very Impressed!
Swytch Max – genuinely impressed
Before ordering, I'd read quite a few reviews from people complaining about Swytch delivery times, so I went into it fully expecting delays.
I ordered my Swytch Max on 23/03/26 and was originally given an estimated delivery window of 1st–30th June 2026. I fully expected that date to slip, but at the end of May I received a UPS notification saying it was on its way – and it actually arrived on 1st June, the very first day of the original delivery window. So I couldn't really ask for better than that.
Fitting it to my bike was fairly straightforward. There are plenty of installation videos online and, taking my time and following the instructions, everything went smoothly.
I'm using it on a Boardman carbon-fibre bike. The bike is obviously heavier with the Swytch fitted, particularly with the replacement front wheel and battery, but it's still considerably lighter than a typical e-bike. The extra weight has also affected the handling much less than I expected.
One thing that took a little getting used to was what happens when you go above the 25 km/h assistance limit. When using a high level of assistance, you definitely notice when the motor stops helping and you're suddenly providing all the power yourself. Initially this can feel a little like the bike is dragging, although I've become much more accustomed to it with use.
My first commute to work was really impressive. My journey dropped from 29 minutes to 25 minutes, but arguably the bigger benefit was that my average heart rate was 17 BPM lower. For commuting, that's brilliant because I still get exercise but arrive at the office considerably less sweaty!
The ride home impressed me even more. There's a ridiculously steep hill on my route that I would normally have to get off the bike and push up. With the Swytch, I managed to climb the whole thing while seated at around 13 km/h. My overall journey home was also 6 minutes quicker, taking around 25 minutes.
At that point I'd had no problems with the kit, so I hadn't needed to contact Swytch customer service. I originally gave the Swytch 4 stars, mainly because I'd only just started using it and felt it was too early to give it 5.
Update – August 2026
I've now completed 13 work commutes with the Swytch, and I'm still really impressed.
Some of my commutes are now down to around 20 minutes – approximately 9 minutes quicker than before fitting the Swytch. That's a substantial improvement on a relatively short commute and it's made a noticeable difference to my journey.
More importantly, after 13 commutes everything is still working perfectly. I've still not needed to contact customer service, so I can't personally comment on what they're like when something goes wrong. I know that's where some of the negative reviews I've read seem to come from, but I can only rate Swytch based on my own experience.
I've therefore updated my original rating from 4 stars to 5 stars. I deliberately held back from giving it 5 stars initially because I'd only just started using it. After 13 commutes, no reliability issues and seeing just how much difference it's made to both my journey times and the effort required, I think it's earned the extra star.
So far, converting my existing bike rather than buying a dedicated e-bike has turned out to be a great decision.
Very happy with the Swytch Max and I'll continue updating this review as I put more miles on it.
Swytch customer service were fantastic
Swytch customer service were fantastic. They replaced a broken part without any fuss. I was very pleased.
Second kit received on time and working well.
I ordered a second Swytch Go++ kit on 4th Feb, for my hybrid bike, to accompany the one I bought for my road bike last year.
It was delivered on schedule last week, and I fitted it this weekend.
The installation and test ride went smoothly, and I'm now looking forward to going out for rides with family/friends.
The first kit has continued to work well on my road-bike, with no issues, and the range has been good too.
The only thing I may change in the future is to order 2 frame mounts for the batteries (one on each bike), as that looks like a more conveinient way to mount them.
From 3 month wait to 8 months then wrong kit
After expressing my concerns about a full suspension bike they assured me they custom build a kit for my bike.
Delayed shipping due to customization would be March. Changed to May then later May and then to June.
8 Months and more delays.I asked to cancel and refund my money. No Answer ,They then shipped a kit that won’t fit my bike .A black Rim instead of silver. A battery pack with mounting bracket that is longer than anyplace on frame.I couldn’t refuse shipment ,it was dropped on my door. And cannot get information on returning it.I was willing to try to make it work but it won’t fit.
Complete directions that were supposed to be included is video.Support doesn’t exist or answer. Contact doesn’t Allow for return.everything is automated so you can’t get information you need. From 3 -8 months is totally crazy. Then to send wrong kit when cancelling.
Then I have a guy in California claiming it is his kit on tracking number. I’m beyond PISSED. What Customer Service.response in 4-7 days that is another rabbit hole of avoidance.Ordered kit in October last year after being assured they had a custom kit just for my bike. 8months standard kit that doesn’t fit.And No support or Technical assistance as promised. Now they keep sending ads that I can have a kit by June 12th.if I order now.
Satisfied customer.
Everything arrived as expected. I had some confusion about the power cord, but that's because I hadn't opened all the boxes to find the charger. I wrote in and received a quick response that solved everything.
In putting it together, I found the Youtube videos to go by too quickly so I relied on the written manual.
Where it talks about the adapter that requires removal of a pedal crank it would be good to make clear that it's not required. And the image for the power controller doesn't match the one I have but seems to work the same - a little awkward setting it up. Otherwise, we're off and riding!
I was a little dubious about the…
I was a little dubious about the purchase process initially. Had kit fitted by. Bike shop. Has been a great help to make my old Dawes tourer with 27 gears comfortable going up hills now I am 70. On line support has been helpful and beneficial to sorting a couple of snags 2 or 3 years into purchase. Happy.
Did want e- bike to feel like a proper bike rather than a shopper so decided to put kit on what I was used to. Can get 20 -27 miles out of 375? battery in hilly area. Ride through winter with covered battery to keep wet out as well.
Terrible customer service and lengthy wait
EDIT: You still haven't resolved my issue! Even after replying to me on here and saying you have!!! *** After waiting almost 6 months for my kit, it arrived without the correct components to secure it to my Brompton. After asking customer services for advice, their AI chatbot told me to manually file down my existing bike components. To which I refused. They eventually (a week later) got in touch to say they'd send some extra parts. But as of yet, kit is still not working. And am still waiting for my helmet to be delivered. If I could give them 0 stars I would.

Appaling service and faulty goods
I ordered a swytch max + kit in November 2025, with the promise that it would be delivered in February 2026. It arrived mid May, after chasing up the order multiple times and suggesting a refund. After installing the kit to the bike, it worked for a brief moment and then the power cut out. I contacted customer support to explain the issue, did some trouble shooting and even sent a video to show that the oled display does not work. I have had no reply since sending this 2 weeks ago. 7 months after paying for this, I have a product that is unusable. I have since been chasing a refund due to the appalling service and faulty product. I urge anyone reading this review to reconsider giving any of your money to this company.
Update- since writing this review, I have received a full refund from swytch which is a positive outcome to a long and frustrating experience.
Worth the wait
I ordered a Brompton kit in August 2025. I was aware it might take some time to fulfill my order so I was prepared as the company has been in a bit of trouble. But I expected it in February I hadn't heard anything so I thought they may have forgotten my order so in April I reminded them and got it in May 2026. Good value compared to other brands. I like the way I can keep the 6-speed with Boost system I'd have to change the rear wheel and loose those gears I need for these Devon hills.
It was easy to fit but I think it could be designed so it folds better. You can fit the battery pack on The reverse of the handlebar to improve the folding. But that's not in the instructions and not part of the design. Fitting the hub wheel the main cable was pinched by the hub washer. The pedal sensor is difficult to fit as the supplied cable ties don't fit around the frame at that point. I bought bigger cable ties only to find one covered the the seat post hole so The seat post wouldn't push down so after some adjustments it all finally worked.
Because it's hilly and I found the grearing to be too high I changed the front chainring to 39 teeth. That doesn't help much around here so I added the Swytch kit..
My first route included a bus trip, some urban riding, some gravel riding, and a lot of steep hills . Its a bit slow to respond when it does get moving it's pleasantly quiet and smooth.
I use the bike with the motor turned on and off it performed well. Climbing hills including a climb of a mile up 120 meters gradient 8% exceeded expectations.
On light gravel I got a wheel spin.
It's difficult to get going on steep hills as it seems to take a whole turn to get it to move.
You need to take the battery off to fold it.
The display is difficult to see what power mode you're in.
It's difficult to change the power level you need a precise touch which means taking your eye off the road.
It's easy to mistakenly fit it with the incorrect wheel size, making it illegal to use as a bicycle or giving you false response and feedback.
Good value overall. Did what I expected and more I like it it works for me.
I had a very disappointing experience…
I had a very disappointing experience with this company. I wish I had read reviews before making my purchase. In October, I bought a kit to convert my 20-inch folding bike. Unfortunately, the kit didn’t arrive until May, which involved a long waiting time. Despite their claims that the installation is easy, I found it quite difficult.
Eventually, I managed to install the kit, but after using it for approximately three weeks, something broke in the motor. I attempted to contact customer service, but it has been a nightmare. On the first day, I was directed to a chatbot for answers, and afterwards, I received sporadic responses from a representative every two or three days, if I was lucky. As a result, I still have a non-working motor and am unsure of what to do next.
Their customer service is poor, and there is no physical shop I can visit for help.
As for the kit itself, while it does its job, the battery life is short, and the bicycle has become significantly heavier with the kit installed. If I could go back in time, I would never choose to buy from them again.
Frozen molasses would be quicker than their customer service
After waiting six months for my kit to arrive, I got the wrong motor wheel sent. I emailed them about it after about three days. They responded saying we could do a motor wheel swap end with the process is to do one. I agreed to do it and I have yet to receive an email back to initiate this process. It’s been five days… and if you try emailing them again, you get sent to the bottom of the queue. So they by chance see this my order number SW-8138579 and I would really like somebody to get back to me. Have been waiting five days.. has taken nearly 14 days for them to file their reply to that then another week for them to reply again. After ordering my bike in December and getting sent the wrong motor wheel, I now have to wait another possible month to get the proper motorsent back after I promptly sent back the incorrect one as soon as they gave me the information. Yes it took almost 2 weeks to get the information to send back the wrong motor wheel. It’s ridiculous… now I have to wait even longer. I got told maybe the end of June.
