Take advantage …

I am extremely unhappy with Supersure renewal quote.
I am unable to get a lesser cover bespoke to my wish this year without the price going up.

They say on their web pages: "Take advantage of our bespoke cover for your Swift caravan."

This evening 14/12/22 is the expiry day for my insurance policy.

I have yet to renew.

Their renewal quote is expensive and not for the cover I prefer.
I have been made to feel very pressured.

"We're always keen to improve our service, and would love to hear your feedback "

They ask for feedback offering £25 as an incentive, a sweetener or 'bribe' ***

so SUPERSURE here is my feedback for free

1. They today sent an email to "confirm that cover will no longer be in force after your policy expiry date, 14/12/2022" and similar.

Of that I was aware and I take exception to being 'hustled' in that way into an instantaneous decision.

In recent days I had noticed that last year's policy was for New for Old (and in my mind that puts insurance prices up for all of us … as does ***).

2. Supersure follow up the nagging email with an unexpected unrequested telephone call.

However I did welcomed the opportunity … to fit my cover … as their customer … more correctly to my pocket as times are hard.

The conversation was swift (please pardon my pun) and I was having some difficulty analysing what was being said (a fast salesman detailed and comprehensive description).

The gentleman caller was very polite.

Yet what I was getting was that the company is
hard nosed about extracting a maximum sales jargon and blinding detail of the proposal.

Effectively pay £227.50 and renew before 20:00 hours today for the existing New for Old renewal terms
or the policy lapses.

If that is a good price I just do not know.
That is pressure !

I wanted to know the price based on a reasonable valuation for my 'one year old' and much adored
Swift Caravan WITHOUT the New for Old.
So I asked for a quote.

That is £239.50 … Let me do the math.
That is an extra £12.00 for a lower grade of policy product (with identical product add-ons).

If this ongoing story has a "happy ending'
I will let you know for the betterment of Swift Customers everywhere with this brokerage.

We’re sorry you’ve rated your experience with Supersure insurance as 1 star and that you feel you’ve been pressured into renewing your policy. Our aim was only to make sure that your caravan wasn’t left without cover but we did not intend to rush your decision.

Your renewal premium was more expensive than last year as you had the benefit of half-price cover.

To provide an accurate quote and ascertain the correct sums insured we do have to do this over the phone at renewal time.

We do have different rating structures for new for old cover and market value cover. In the unusual event that selected insured values for both types of cover are similar, the market value premium can come out more expensive. Also with used caravan values peaking recently the gap between new and second-hand prices has narrowed in many cases.

We would be happy to carry out a full review of your policy to see if we can reduce your premium and so you can continue to protect your caravan.

Very disappointing experience.

Very disappointing experience.
We have just had our caravan renewal quotation, the policy price has jumped by £206.00 a year.
After a long discussion they reviewed the quote and increased it yet again.
I have gone elsewhere, so out of courtesy I called them, only for the sales representative to wriggle and squirm trying every trick in the book to keep me under their control. Even suddenly being able to drop the price by a mere £14.50
Caravans are becoming far to expensive, and insurance companies are now ripping of the public, this is a prime example.
So much so I decided to give them a very poor rating.
In reply to the insurance company response. Nothing has changed we are in a more secure storage facility, all your comments and quotes did not match what we had paid the years before your sales person was shocking and would not listen.
No company can justify an increase of over £200 in a year.
We obtained quotes from other companies and everyone was below your quote that we had for the previous year. Sounds like you need to review your offering.
It’s funny how you now want to jump through hoops.
You had your chance not once but twice. In fact you even increased the premium you wanted to charge me in less than 24hrs

I’m really sorry to hear you were unhappy with your renewal premium. It’s very hard to comment as we cannot identify you from the details supplied.
There are a few possibilities why your premium has increased by so much:
• As a Supersure customer you may have previously qualified for some major discounts that are no longer offered due to changes in general insurance pricing regulations.
• It sounds like when you called we reviewed your cover details. If your caravan is relatively new and you were insured on a new for old cover basis it’s possible we had to increase your caravan’s insured value to reflect the price of an equivalent new model so that it remained fully insured. New caravan prices have risen substantially. Given the increase in premium alone, it suggests like your caravan is of high value.
• Have you removed some items of security since your last renewal or changed where you store it?
• Have you made a claim?
I’m sure our adviser would have worked as hard as possible to make sure you were fully covered at our best possible price.
