Do not send money to String Poet . . . as I foolishly did.
In response to an advertisement in Poets & Writers Magazine, I paid $18 to submit my poetry for the String Poet Prize. The deadline was February 1, 2018. I paid and submitted on December 12, 2017. I heard nothing from the organizers since. At the end of November 2018, noting that not only was there no announcement on its site of the completion of the contest but that the site seemed not to have been updated in a year, I wrote to the owner of the establishment noted as a center of the organization. He forwarded my email to the site's webmaster who promised that a winner would be posted "in a couple of days." Two weeks later, no winner has been posted. I requested a refund of my $18 from the webmaster and from the person noted on the site as the founder and editor. I have received no further messages . . . nor my $18.
