Very disappointing handover and…

Very disappointing handover and aftersales support

I collected my Range Rover Autobiography from Stratstone Land Rover Wolverhampton, and the experience fell well below what I would expect for a vehicle of this calibre. There was no proper handover or explanation of the vehicle’s features. The keys appeared worn, there were white paint marks on the rear passenger leather, and the number plate fixing holes appeared incorrectly positioned.

The vehicle also had a number of issues from the outset, including an intermittent noise from the rear, a burning smell resembling tyres, a suspected sunroof seal issue and a front screen that was not working. This was deeply disappointing for what should have been an enjoyable experience.

The dealership’s handling of these concerns has only added to my frustration. I felt left to resolve matters myself and ultimately had to contact JLR directly to secure intervention. The vehicle is now with another authorised Land Rover dealership, where parts have been ordered and attempts are being made to rectify the faults. The matter remains unresolved.

Although the General Manager comes across as pleasant, this has unfortunately not translated into effective communication or follow-through. My emails have gone unanswered. I also escalated my complaint to the parent company and, three weeks later, am still waiting for a response.

I have retained the email correspondence documenting my attempts to resolve these issues. Customers should not have to chase repeatedly for basic communication and support after collecting a vehicle with faults.

A properly prepared vehicle, a thorough handover and responsive aftersales care are reasonable expectations. My experience has fallen short on all three.

First class

From the moment you arrive your made to feel welcome.
Many thanks to the people who I dealt with and the technicians for the work they have done on my car.
And the prices for a main dealer aren't bad
So many thanks.

Extremely disappointing experience

Extremely disappointing experience — repeated vehicle fault, poor buy-back offer and now complete silence

I bought a 2024 Range Rover Evoque P300e from Land Rover Wolverhampton for around £44,000. In roughly 14 months of ownership, the car has had the same recurring hybrid/high-voltage battery-related problem three separate times.

After the third issue, I’d simply lost confidence in the car. I regularly make long journeys and I don’t think it’s unreasonable to expect a relatively new vehicle to be dependable. When the same fault keeps coming back, that confidence disappears pretty quickly.

I contacted the dealership to try to find a sensible way forward. I was passed between Land Rover Knutsford and Wolverhampton, having to explain the situation more than once, before Wolverhampton eventually offered me just £25,500 to buy the car back.

To put that into perspective, I’d paid them around £44,000 less than 18 months earlier. At the time, Carwow valued the car at roughly £27,600, while comparable 2024 P300e Dynamic HSE models were being advertised at around £30,000–£33,000.

On 10 September, I wrote to the dealership asking for management to look at the situation properly as a customer complaint, rather than simply treating the car as an ordinary used-car purchase. I explained the repeated faults, the inconvenience they had caused and why I no longer trusted the vehicle.

I heard nothing back.

I followed up again on 17 September, specifically asking for a response and for details of where I should send a formal complaint.

Again, nothing.

It is now 5 October.

For a main Land Rover retailer to ignore two written messages from a customer dealing with a recurring fault on a relatively new £44,000 vehicle is incredibly disappointing.

What frustrates me most is that I’m not asking them to deal with something that has nothing to do with them. They sold me the car. The same type of problem has happened three times. I’ve spent a considerable amount of time trying to sort it out and I’ve made every effort to deal with the situation reasonably and constructively.

But when I ask management to actually review what has happened, I’m met with silence.

If you’re thinking of buying a car from Land Rover Wolverhampton, I would seriously consider what level of aftersales support you might receive if something goes wrong. Selling an expensive car is the easy part. The real measure of a dealership is how it treats you when there is a genuine problem afterwards.

I’d be more than happy to update this review if Land Rover Wolverhampton finally engages with me and reaches a fair resolution. As things stand, though, my experience has been extremely poor.

Communication within the dealership so that the front facing team are fully aware of progress.

Service Team sorted and arranged the recall work effectively and communicated with me throughout.
Lack of communication between the departments resulted in a delay in handing back my vehicle when I arrived at the dealership.

Avoid

A horrendous experience with this dealership. Read on before you buy.

I bought an £83,000 Range Rover from Land Rover Wolverhampton. Within 24 hours I reported an abnormal rattle/rumble, and within 5 days I rejected the vehicle.

Since then, I’ve been met with one argument after another as to why my consumer rights supposedly don’t apply
.
First, the Used Car Sales Manager claimed it was a business purchase and my consumer rights were therefore reduced. That was incorrect and was later retracted in writing.

Then I was told the car had been “fixed” — apparently the noise was caused by loose trim around the centre console. I wasn’t prepared to accept an £83,000 vehicle shedding interior trim in normal use, and it raised an obvious question I still have no answer to: what had happened to this car before it was sold to me? I maintained my rejection.

Next, I was told the 14-day cancellation provisions did not operate as I believed, because I had physically collected and used the vehicle — despite the deal having been agreed remotely beforehand.

I was then told the fault was “not a major mechanical defect,” and that the 30-day right to reject a faulty vehicle therefore did not apply either. As far as I can establish, no such distinction exists in the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

I was also told that reporting a fault does not create an automatic right to reject, and that the dealer should be given a “reasonable opportunity to investigate and remedy” the issue. That sounds reasonable until you look at the law: within the first 30 days, the choice between rejection and repair belongs to the buyer, not the seller.

Meanwhile, the car remains with the dealership and I continue to incur finance charges while Black Horse/Land Rover Financial Services deals with my complaint.

What I find most disappointing is the apparent effort spent finding technical reasons not to unwind the sale, rather than simply standing behind an £83,000 vehicle that developed a fault almost immediately.

I paid a premium to buy from a main Land Rover dealer because I expected better. In my case, the premium was not worth it. Be very careful before dealing with this dealership.

The dealership was easy to book with, efficient when I took my car in despite being earlier than the allotted time and returned the car with the work fully explained and completed.

Shocking service and after service19th June

After collecting my car after a major service within 1 mile of driving the restricted performance light came on I had collect my car at the end of the day on a Friday and they had left and closed for the weekend. Took car back and brakes then failed. Their response to both instances “unfortunate timing” the brakes there report loose valve and air lock they serviced the brakes. RP fault told me I need to change a filter which the did for £315 guess what RP light came on the next day. They refuse to accept any fault and again state “unfortunate timing’ shocking company
