Great Company, Great Foods
This company sells fantastic fish (and amphibian, reptile, turtle, and bird) foods. The website gives a great variety of foods in many sizes, with clear descriptions of each. Though they charge shipping, it is reasonable for how quickly it arrives, and the lower price of the products has still meant I pay less than Amazon if I buy a few products. They sent me free samples of well packed (and moist) insect larvae with my latest order, so I know those as well as the gel powder fish foods are good. My comments below just concern the actual foods.
I have been using their products to feed my fish and shrimp for some time, but mostly had ordered through Amazon. I started when I was having trouble getting my otocinclus catfish (several of them) to eat any (of MANY) commercial food after they'd finished with the algae on the glass. I saw Repashy's Soilent Green recommended. (Unlike in the Charlton Heston movie, this food contains nothing... worrying) It took a little practice to get the gel right, not too wet or dry, but when I did, I started using little ice cube trays and was able to pop the gel cubes in a tupperware in the fridge to keep a couple weeks. The Soilent Green turns out to be less popular with Otos than Repashy's Super Green, which I tried next, but my Corydoras, shrimp, guppies, loaches, and pleco adore it. I serve it mostly in glass petri dishes I got from Amazon to keep the tanks cleaner, and even guppies are fine with that. (Otos and shrimp love glass dishes)
Bottom Scratcher and Community Plus are also popular for many fish and shrimp, and Morning Wood is great for plecos. I have tried other powders for nutritional variety, mixed powders for custom gels, and mixed medications in to get sick fish to eat them, adding garlic flavoring when mixing to tempt the sick fish. This stuff takes a little work, but is worth it. I still need live food for some fish, but these powdered gels are worth a try for fussy eaters.
