Rubbish Stihl FS38 Strimmer

I’ve had this strimmer for about a month now and it is rubbish. To be fair it cuts very well and it is light so easy to use but the bumping only occasionally works to extend the cutting line and only for the first once or twice after threading a new line. So after a little while there is only a small amount of line left, not sufficient to cut effectively. So then you have to stop and unscrew the cutting head to find the line has trapped itself by burying itself underneath the first few windings. However unscrewing the head is not straightforward as you have to push it inwards while turning and that is quite painful on the fingers and it takes a lot of turns before it comes off. Then you have to free the line and screw the head back on in order to re thread the thing. Again a painful and lengthy procedure. A simple strimming job will therefore take perhaps 10 times longer than it should because of course you have to repeat this process many times.

POOR DESIGN,CRASHES TO THE FLOOR.

I bought a STIHL battery strimmer and it's poorly designed. You cannot stand the thing up, it slips and crashes to the ground, all side are extremely slippery. This may seem like a small point but it's not, there is a real danger that the thing will break. DO THEY NEVER TRY THESE THING BEFORE THEY PUT THEM ON THE MARKET! I am waiting for the thing to break I will then be £100+ OUT OF POCKET! BAD DESIGN

Dreadful Customer Service

Bought a premium lawnmower from Stihl it worked brilliantly twice. Then on the third use the drive stopped working. Was being quoted four weeks minimum to repair a six week old lawnmower. Requested that they replaced it with a new unit. Firstly the non UK customer service line refused and then having emailed the CEO The UK customer service manager flatly refused and was unhelpful and officious. Do not buy anything from this company there are better and friendlier alternatives.

Stihl Warranty

Stihl Warranty: Coverage and Service; I am sorry to read of your experience in regards to the inspection of the machine to diagnose the fault you are encountering. All STIHL Approved Dealers are independent businesses that operate under their trading terms and conditions and as such we are unable to influence changes to their processes relating to the inspection and booking of machines.
Before any work is carried out the dealer will inspect the machine and this will be subject to the availability of their workshop and may be subject to a charge.
To provide further support please confirm once the machine has been taken to the dealer the following information:-
The name of the booking with the dealer
Your full address
The booking reference from the dealer
Your permission for us to contact the dealer to discuss on your behalf
A copy of the original purchase receipt for the machine
Once I have the above information I will confirm receipt and investigate with the dealer. the work could be subject to the charge made by the dealer, they will be able to confirm this to you.
I look forward to hearing from you as soon as possible.

I have the small battery chainsaw x 2

I have the small battery chainsaw .. Now although this is good up to a point ..The chain tends to jump off the bar .. the battery charge not good .. I bought two GT26's to have a "second" battery .. now they are giving away a free battery .. I asked what about people like me who bought just before this offer came out .. I never received a reply ..

Stihl MS261 Chainsaw

Purchased the £795 MS261 Chainsaw, top of the range that’s supposedly made for professional use. I bought this 3 months ago for domestic use and only used it occasionally. It has since stopped working.

I bought Stihl as I think it makes quality products and it is the total opposite! A machine made for professional use, broke while used for domestic purpose! What’s worse is, it is still under warranty and Stihl would not repair or exchange for a new one. They actually asked me to purchase a new one! This is a joke!!

The customer service is appalling, and I would urge anyone thinking of purchasing a Stihl to stay away. Bad quality products, Bad customer service! No longer the Stihl it used to be.

Review for Stihl super clean spray

Review for Stihl super clean spray. Complete waste of money, been using it on my hedge trimmer every use,that isn’t used heavily and it has got a massive build up of baked on sap. Even tried soaking the blade for ages to loosen it then scrubbing with a cloth, it doesn’t remove anything at all !

Stihl Chain saw-buyer beware

Purchased a Stihl chainsaw in December 2022. Used it for the first time in January 2023. Had difficulty starting it. Used it for 45 minutes and it shut off. Could not get it started back. Brought it to the approved distributor where I purchased the chain saw and they were able to start it and said there was nothing wrong with it. Several weeks later, went to use the Stihl chainsaw and it would not start. Finally got it started and used it for about 30 minutes. While letting the chain saw idle for several minutes to pull down some tree branches(did not want to cut off chain saw as it was too hard to start) the chain saw started smoking. I could not get it started back. Brought the chain saw back to the distributor and they said there was a burnt clutch and plastic housing. I was informed by Stihl that this repair is not covered under their warranty because the chainsaw was left idling for several minutes. It is very unfortunate I am +$400.00 out of pocket with no chain saw. I have owned and operated chainsaws for the last 30 years and have run and operated a chainsaw the same way and never had this problem. The problem is a defective Stihl chain saw. Stihl will not replace my chain saw. Very poor rating for this company. Similar complaints as mine have been made from other customers and can be found on line.

bought the lawnmower RME 235 following…

bought the lawnmower RME 235 following top rating in Which magazine. I had an old lawnmower for 20 years which packed up few months ago. I wish I made a note which make it was before discarding it. I hate the new lawnmower, will probably buy another one. This one have 5 settings, don’ know why because the lowest setting still didn’t cut some of the grass! My lawn it’s not very even but the old lawnmower cut it perfectly. After cutting grass with the new lawnmower my back garden looked as if a gigantic snails have been passing through . Lots of zigzag lines .
It’s light, easy to assemble and the price was very affordable for the very good review I saw at Which magazine 🤣
So if you are fussy ,like me ,how your lawn looks after mowing don’t buy it .
Hopefully in a day snail lines will be gone !
