i have stayed here for several years and since the new ownership it has declined massively. They recently charged me twice for my stay and the emails i send them keep bouncing back i called reception and they just told me to email them at the same address. I tried to contact them through the contact form on the website but they have ignored me. Im having to do a chargeback through my credit card to get a refund. I wont stay here again. They have also removed kettle, phone, and daily housekeeping.
Refund refused
I booked this property when it was advertised as the St Giles London. Since my booking, it has rebranded to "STG Hotel Oxford Street." Management has admitted in writing that the property has undergone "rebranding and refurbishment," yet the standards do not match what was originally contracted. I refused to check in as the property was not as described. Despite the hotel admitting to these material changes, both STG Hotel and Booking.com are refusing a refund, hiding behind a "non-refundable" policy that should not apply in cases of misrepresentation. I have been left out of pocket for €250.80 and have had to escalate this to the European Consumer Centre (ECCI) and initiate a bank chargeback. Be extremely careful booking here if you expect the standards of the former St Giles. Disgraceful service and total lack of accountability.
DO NOT STAY HERE!
St Giles Hotel London: DO NOT STAY HERE! Absolute frauds! Stayed here with my daughter in April 2026 for 3 nights, was charged for the stay on arrival and then paid an extra £20 for early check-in on the overall total. Then was recharged another £20 by the hotel saying i hadn't paid the early check-in, yet the confirmation emails and bank statements clearly show the hotels mistake. They clearly need a better accountants as the current ones are fraudsters! After numerous phonecalls and texts. As of this day i am still out of pocket from the hotel, absolutely disgusting customer service! I'd steer well clear of this place . Disgusting service.
Sadly Disappointing
Very disappointed. Stayed in January 2026 and room was very basic but clean. Booked again for April 2026. To say I was dissatisfied is an understatement. The room was clean but there was no spare pillows or blankets and we were told if we needed more there would be a charge. Only one towel each in the bathroom and no hand towels etc. there was no toiletries in the room and the hairdryer was not working. At apx 1am the fire alarm went off. There is no phone in the room and being on the 9th floor we were unsure as to how to get out without the use of the lift. We had to go down nine floors via stairs and when we arrived down stairs the lack of experience from the staff was awful. Thankfully this was a fault on the electrical board and not a fire as I dread to think what would have happened if it was a fire. According to a lady we spoke to this had happened several times over the four nights she had been there. There was no announcement to tell us what to do. When we asked should we go outside the manager just shrugged and said stay here or go outside it’s your choice. It really does let this hotel down. The only thing going for this hotel is the location as the hotel itself is definitely not worth the money. I defo won’t be staying here again. Also they used to take the luggage in the luggage room for £2 per back which is now £10 per bag. Daylight robbery!!!
A rustic outdated hotel
STG needs to be careful not to increase their price or their customers will really turn on them. No minibar fridge in the hotel anymore, i got a old tv from 2001 which barely is bigger than my ipad. They dont believe you after you prepaid them for a breakfast. They make you go another round to the reception and ask for a printet receipt. They then make you sign it and then you can eat! Anyhow best to avoid their breakfast altogether, not a amazing selection and the orange juice taste like its mixed with vodka. 😖

What happens in the London hotel is utterly disgusting! Weekly planned s** parties with gangs of man coming in and out!
St Giles has been sold and has really changed
St Giles has been sold and has really changed.
The reception area is under construction (no mention of this on the website). The iconic Pegasus Art is being taken down (according to staff). The professional reception staff seems to have changed(?) it’s really not the same quality anymore. No more Tea/Coffee in the rooms, it’s a small gesture that means a lot. I met a woman in the lift, very upset, she had just complained to the staff about her room being worse than a hostel. I have stayed there about 40 times, but now the great location is pretty much the only good thing… And Chris (doorman for many years) is still there, thats nice. After Corona lockdown the single rooms seems to have been downsized, I once complained about this and was told off by the staff, who said it was not true…Well, it was smaller than before the reconstruction. I now only book a Superior double room, just to have a nice stay… But perhaps it’s time to look for a different hotel.
Absolute terrible service
Absolute terrible service, and completely obliviant to needs of handicapped people. The service manager is directly rude and doesn’t take any responsibility for staffs inappropriate behavior.

Senail on Monday my check in was simply kind and the service was world class . It very hard to make any person feel like they are special . This was the best service i had from any hotel
Truly well done

Not Suitable for Disabled/wheelchair users
stayed at this hotel last week when attending the When Gavin met Stacey and Everythingin Between. I booked a wheelchair Accessable room in which I was told at check in I had. When we got to the room, I couldn't turn my wheelchair around because there was no space. I couldn't get my wheelchair into the bathroom either. Reported it to reception and got a FREE upgrade to a bigger room which was ok for using my wheelchair but the bathroom wasn't Accessable as there were no no grab rails at the toilet or in the shower.
At this point I had also booked the buffet breakfast for the next morning, paying for it in advance at the hotel. The next morning we went to have breakfast to be told that the service lift was out of order and had been for between 5-6 weeks. I advised of my dissatisfaction as they had only taken the payment the afternoon before, knowing I was in a wheelchair and taking no attempt of advising me of the lift situation. I was told I would receive a full refund of the breakfasts being over £27 within 3-5 working days and I'm still waiting. To date I have received NO REFUND..
Also the other restaurant at this hotel charge a so called optional service charge of 12.5% which they don't advise guests about and just add it.
Avoid this hotel
Avoid this hotel
No toilet paper in room. I went to front desk as asked for some to be put in room while I was out. I arrived back and still no toilet paper.
Shower was barely usable putting water everywhere as the hose leaked.
The hotel is a building site and I was not warned about this when I booked.
Letter in room saying builder would be working 9am to 5pm but they started at 7:50am
Random screw poking out
The room is smaller than a prison cell
Staff rude and unhelpful at check in and when I complained.
Grateful
Was so grateful to be so central in London found the staff wonderful, Senait was extra helpful and kind. Am so grateful would stay again. Best wishes Melanie
Unclean
When I checked in, I was told that I was ‘upgraded’ to room 141. The room I was given was no upgrade, in fact it seemed worse than the room I had actually booked on the website. When I got settled and started work, I noticed what looked like a nicotine pouch stuck to the wall in front of me, on top of stains left there from previous. In the bathroom, there was some used toilet paper stuck down the side of the sink, and footprints over the toilet seat. There was left over food in the fridge, and a bogey smeared on the wall next to the tissue dispenser on the desk.
Upon writing to them regarding this, I was kindly offered a 20% off voucher on my next stay with them- which is irrelevant because I do not intend to return to any St Giles establishments. Since then, they’ve offered me a 20% refund.
A Disappointing Stay
A Disappointing Stay
I recently stayed at this hotel and unfortunately, it did not meet expectations. Every morning, there was an incredibly long line and wait for breakfast. Once seated, the service was nearly nonexistent, and there was a noticeable lack of food options, with many items either missing or not replenished.
The elevators were out of order throughout my stay, which was extremely inconvenient, especially for guests with luggage or mobility issues. Additionally, the room conditions were far from comfortable—either freezing cold or unbearably hot, with no way to regulate the temperature effectively.
Overall, I would not recommend this hotel due to the poor service, lack of maintenance, and uncomfortable stay.
Back again after 1 year
It’s the only Hotel I like to stay in when I visit London . It’s a nice walk from St Pancras Station via Russell Square Cafe Tropea . Central to everything . An easy walk to The Prince Theatre for MJ Musical. A very pleasant stay with clean rooms, good value rooms if booked in advance . Pleasant reception staff and professional .
Definitely reccommend it !
Booked a room at short notice through…
Booked a room at short notice through Booking.com at St Giles Hotel in Bedford Avenue London. Becaise of atrocious national weather my trains to London were all cancelled and i could not get to London for my two nights St Giles Hotels have still wanted to charge me for one of the nights ! Plainly this is profiteering on their part ! What cheats St Giles Hotels are ! I will now never use them or Booking .com. Still waiting to see if St Giles or Booking.com insist on pocketing a cancellation fee ?!? SO far St Giles and Booking, com have been hopeless . A week on from the weather striking the UK and making my travel ompossible these two companies keep trying to shunt me off despite my complaining to both . Do not trust either of these greedy cheat companies !
The hotel is no way 4* hotel
The hotel is no way 4* hotel. St Giles London.
The room was very small, but it was clean. We actually stayed two nights the first morning breakfast was appalling, everything we had, had been watered down the eggs had so much salt it made you thirsty!
We actually considered skipping breakfast the following morning but because we had already paid we went and it was better the second morning, not good but better.
We went into London to do some shopping, this is where the hotel is good and got the extra star because it is well placed walking distance to most attractions.
When we got back to the hotel the second day my suitcase had been, rivalled through, I know this because we had put all valuables in the safe and did the cases up and closed all bags.
Thank god our valuables were in the safe!
I convinced myself that I must of gone into the cases as we left the hotel but I have since seen that other people staying at the hotel have had things stolen from their rooms.
The one decent member of staff was the concierge gentleman with the grey beard and lovely smile, sorry didn't catch his name but he went out of his way to make us feel valued guests.
I wouldn't recommend this hotel, unless the only thing you feel of value is the position of it!
Stayed there last week
Stayed there last week, very small for a superior single and it was absolutely filthy. The mattress was all stained and there looked like there was blood on the wall
Hardest hotelbed in town
Hardest hotelbed I have ever slept ind. No aircondition, the room was hot. When ever ever a door slammed at the floor we stayed at, we woke up.
The service was fine and location was good, but what does that help, if you cant sleep?
