The guys at Stauko seemed nice, and I was looking forward to doing various rooms of the house with them. Luckily I started with just one room. The wood window I received, a large floor to ceiling window made in 3 parts with a door into the balcony, arrived with a big delay, and it is not the type of product I had asked for and discussed with the representative of Stauko. I had stressed the importance of having a door that would look exactly like the existing door, as we live in a monumental home, but with double glass to improve insulation. I had also shown the representative of Stauko 2 other windows/doors from other rooms, that had been done about 3 years earlier by a different company, and they would also be a good reference, since they had the same design as the original door/ windows from 1905 but with double glass and were made with a nice and heavy frame and solid wood. The representative of Stauko made me believe that they could deliver the same high quality product, however, what I received was completely different. The design of the door is modern, the frame thin and inconsistent, does not even close properly and this type of door/window is not allowed in a monumental house. It's in fact a window that you would use on a trailer or a mobile home. A cheap version of a window. When I mentioned this to the representative, he apologized saying that he had changed my order because they did not make the windows I wanted, and he realized he should have let me know about the change and should have gotten my approval, but now it was too late to replace the window as it had been made to size. He said I should be happy to have a modern window. He refused to replace the order. In other words, he had no problem taking my 50% deposit of over 5400 Euros and put it towards an order for something I didn't want at all, in fact, it was the opposite of what I had asked for.
In addition, the cheap excuse of a door/window does not close properly, it does not even align properly and one side is sitting taller than the other. There is a huge gap at the bottom and air comes in. It's actually too short for its frame. When the guys from Stauko tried to align it better, the door would not close anymore as the lock alignment was lost. The insulation is very poor, you can feel the wind coming in. I have never seen anything done so poorly. The original doors, as old as they were, closed better than this door. The Stauko explanation? "Wood stretches and shrinks". Right, on a door that is a few days old? It shrinks so much that it leaves gaps everywhere and lets the wind come in???
The main problem however, is that this door style is not even allowed in a monumental home and needs to be replaced. Months have passed and Stauko has avoided responsibility, in fact, now the representative denies completely having had these conversations with me and has not yet offered a replacement or refund.
They offer to try to fix the door and make it close better. How do you fix a door that is the wrong style? And that is missing about 2 cm at the bottom? Now, with the cold weather, I have to keep the door of that room always closed and I will have to replace the windows completely in spring.
DO NOT TRUST THEM, EVER. They do not know anything about wood windows and they will say anything to avoid taking responsibility. terrible, terrible company.
