We decided to travel to Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan at the end of 2023. Maksat responded quickly to our initial contact and sent us a first offer. We adapted this to our needs and Maksat checked it to see if it was possible.
We then flew to Turkmenistan in March 2024. Entering the country with the invitation letter went very smoothly. We then travelled for a week, always together with the great guide Gurban and with different drivers. We did the following:
- Sightseeing tour of Asgabath
- Night train to Turkmenbashi
- Yangykala Canyons
- Nohur with an overnight stay with a local family
- Merv
- Darvaza Crater, overnight stay in the yurt
- Kunya Urgench
We then travelled on to Uzbekistan and visited the cities of Khiva, Bukhara, Samarkand and Tashkent. In Uzbekistan we travelled without a guide, but we also booked the transfers and hotels through Stantrips.
The whole trip was wonderful. We felt that we were in good hands at all times. Gurban adapted to us and our wishes and responded flexibly. Everything went smoothly, the driver and guide were always on time, everything worked perfectly.
We can fully recommend Stantrips without hesitation.

Highly recommended tour company. They worked with me at length on my desired itinerary and pricing, helped me obtain my visa last-minute, and negotiated a wonderful trip at a price acceptable for both parties. I had been in touch with 15 different tour companies and ultimately chose Stantrips because of their responsiveness, flexibility, fairness, and general trustworthiness. As a solo female traveler, safety and security are of the highest priority for me, especially when traveling to a country where I would be camping in the desert and knew my iphone would not work — both my guide and driver (via the company) made me feel incredibly safe and gave me an amazing tour, I could not have asked for more respectful and knowledgeable guides, and they ensured every aspect of the trip went smoothly and without incident. Furthermore, several months after I left, Hudaikuli and his team helped recover some items for me in Turkmenistan and got them back to me safely, and I am infinitely grateful for this kindness, as they had no obligation to help me but did anyway. I honestly cannot recommend this company enough, especially for first-time travelers to Turkmenistan.

I had a most wonderful week-long trip to Turkmenistan with Stantrips! I have been to over 100 countries and this was one of my favourites! On the trip, I visited Ashgabat, Darvaza, Dashoguz, Kunya Urgench, Turkmenbashi, Yangykala Canyons, Nohur, Mary, and Ancient Merv. The itinerary was intricately planned and tailored to my schedule/asks, as well as perfectly executed. Nadine was an amazing guide: incredibly personable, knowledgeable, and organized. She went above and beyond to ensure that I had the perfect holiday. Hudaikuli and Maksat were very responsive and helpful when planning the trip. Overall, I would highly recommend Turkmenistan and Stantrips! A fantastic time!!!

I went on a tour with the guide Hudaykuli and he was very nice and knowledgeable about everything. He’s a local so it’s interesting to get to know the country from his perspective. He’s very accommodating and flexible to your schedule. 100% recommendation.
