Thank you for for help

My laptop was completely unusable so I could not use it at all. I asked SpecTronics to fix it for me. I have used them before and I know that they are absolutely reliable. When I rang them up they were devastated - I had been affected by a scam and therefore unfortunately I was unable to use the laptop.
SpecTronics wanted not only to fix the problems but also to update the laptop to Windows 10. In addition they recovered all my files and photos. I was told this is difficult to do and they were not sure if it was possible as my old system is so out-of-date. Not only did they come and collect the laptop from my home but also fixed it and returned it to me - all on the same day.
They are fast, friendly and efficient and I am very impressed with their civil and patient manner whenever I contact them. I will always recommend SpecTronics to my friends and family.

We use Spectronics to manage and…

We use Spectronics to manage and support Office 365 and network infrastructure for our business and have for a number of years now, we have found their services invaluable, their support response is instant and they work through any issue presented to them with a calm and concise demeanour, most recently they helped with ensuring our business continuity in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.

We couldn't recommend Ben, Michael, Ash and the team highly enough. Well done guys on a great service.

Great Support Team

Spectronics has managed our Google account for over 5 years. I can always rely on them to answer promptly and to resolve any issues intelligently and efficiently. Recently we had an accounting issue with Google and Spectronics took it on themselves to get past the standard 'computer says no' answer, and push for a resolution which made a huge positive difference to us financially. I would recommend them.

Ben and his team rescued my website and…

Ben and his team rescued my website and email accounts from a huge malware attack ,if not for their swift and comprehensive action i would of had to have my site rebuilt from scratch at great expense, loss of business and reputation.

I've since handed all of my I.T. requirements to SpecTronics who not only support our Office 365 and eCommerce websites, including managing updates and security,but also i run all new projects,marketing initiatives and technical related work through Ben to ensure we're compliant,effective and safe.

i would recommend Spectronics to anyone serious about protecting and developing their online activities without hesitation.

Spectronics built a website for us

Spectronics built a website for us. It was efficient and good value for money. Advice was clear., with prompt responses to our questions, many of which were quite basic as we were new to this. They were available and easy to talk to, with a genuine interest in what we were trying to achieve. A good experience. We will continue to use their services.

Spectronics recently set up Sharepoint…

Spectronics recently set up Sharepoint for our company to separate information we wanted to make available to customers, to staff and also only to the Directors of the company. They undertook the task and completed it in three days. They helped us work through the teething problems and it is all up and running smoothly within 6 days of starting the project. It is very important to us as we need a quick and reliable system to store and disseminate information. The cost was also competitive. I'd highly recommend them.

I was a client of Spectronics

I was a client of Spectronics for nearly 5 years. We used them for both IT support and VOIP services. If the problems were basic then the service was fine however there were a few ups and downs and one howling error on Spectronics part. If we wanted to speak to the management about something we were unhappy with (Ben), they were rarely available which was extremely frustrating.

However my biggest gripe was how we were tied in to them contractually. When we signed our contract with them i understood it to be 1 month notice period however on leaving it transpired that we had misunderstood this and it was actually a fixed 12 month contract with a 1 month notice period. I gave notice in August, hoping to terminate in October. However we were tied in with Spectronics until April. We were moving to offices with an inbuilt VOIP and IT offering so ended up having to pay spectronics for 7 months for services that we could not/ did not want to really use.
The final straw was when Spectronics signed us up to 12 month licences once we had already give notice (these could have been bought monthly). I wanted my new supplier to have control not Spectronics. Spectronics then cancelled all my licences meaning that i had paid for them upfront but then could not use the licenses - and i received no warning from Spectronics that if i cancelled i would loose the licences forever. Below was the response i got from them when i complained:

"Further to our earlier conversation, having attempted to re-activate your Office license subscription, your account has in fact been cancelled from our suppliers’ system for Office. This was owing to the request you made to cancel all services with us at the earliest opportunity, so that you could transition to your new suppliers swiftly. Unfortunately, we are unable to re-add this account or licensing without engaging in a new 12-month contract with our suppliers. You will need to re-contract Office licensing either with ourselves or your new provider. Apologies for not having realised this before asking you to re-add our access. You can remove this access via your admin console if you so wish. For clarity, the charges for Office remain unchanged, as the licenses were contracted annually (both to us and yourselves), and so we have had to pay these charges to our suppliers despite the early cancelation of these"

I was warned by a previous client of Spectronics that they make it very difficult for you to leave, i was sadly already a client so the warning was too late. This note is for all potential customers - be very aware of what they are tying you into - it cost us £0000's.

It clearly isn't reasonable to expect us to anticipate your need to reactivate licences you've instructed us to cancel and it is regretable that you felt it necessary to leave such a negative review relating to issues resulting directly from us following your instructions, especially after thanking us for "looking after you over the past 5 years".

Appalling

Appalling. Do not use this company. They overcharged me £540 to do simple work in a home installing WiFi. The product they installed never worked. They refused to return to the house to remedy the situation. Their customer service is utterly dreadful. YOU MUST AVOID THIS COMPANY

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review and I’m very sorry to hear that you remain dissatisfied with the service provided. When you contacted SpecTronics, you engaged us on a time and materials basis to carry out a half day visit to investigate WiFi signal strength around your house, and to install some equipment to help extend the signal.

This work was completed by one of our engineers and the improved signal strength was demonstrated to your housekeeper as you weren’t at home to sign off the work.

A number of days later, you contacted us again to let us know that the WiFi signal was not as stable as expected. In the interests of providing the best possible service, we made arrangements with you to provide some additional remote support (free of charge) to investigate any possible issues. We were unable to identify additional issues remotely and suggested a follow up site visit to further investigate.

Obviously, as is to be expected with a time and materials project, this visit would be chargeable and we needed authorisation from you before proceeding. As we have not received this authorisation and despite attempts to do so, we have not been able to return to site yet.

We would be delighted to complete this additional work once we have authorisation and will continue to work with you to deliver a robust solution. We will reach out to you again directly to try to arrange this.

Avoid Spectronics for business VoIP

My company used Spectronics for VoIP services over a 12 month period. It was a terrible experience from start to finish. The service never worked properly - frequently one side of the conversation couldn't hear the other. We could never reliably call international numbers despite notifying Spectronics on multiple occasions. Spectronics even completely stopped us making calls at one point because they 'forgot' to record on their system that a Direct Debit had been set up. Never a word of apology for any of these things - only an insistence that we see out the full contract despite us not receiving a working service. Overall, a really terrible experience. The only positive thing about Spectronics is that the service is fairly cheap. But if it doesn't work, it doesn't matter how cheap it is. We're so happy to be with our wonderful new VoIP provider, and everything is now working perfectly.

EDIT: thanks for your reply Chris. Unfortunately, however, it isn't true. We worked very hard over many months to allow you to fix the call issues. We kept logs of when the issues occurred and sent them to you. On the international calling, we were told by you on numerous occasions that the issue had been fixed, and yet it wasn't. And regarding the DD, I'm afraid it was not promptly switched back on - we had to call to remind you. Perhaps overall Spectronics is a good company - the other reviews certainly suggest as much. However the customer service manager we were assigned was appalling and incompetent, resulting in the above issues.

It was unclear what the call transfer issues you experienced were caused by and our engineers worked hard to resolve as best we could with minimal disruption to you. Regrettably, we had great difficulty communicating with you and your colleagues over the matter and despite repeatedly pushing for important information that would enable us to troubleshoot, it was not forthcoming.

Regarding international calling, we advised you on more than one occasion that you needed to change your account settings as the default fraud prevention settings would prevent you from making certain (potentially expensive) international calls, something that would have been instantly resolved had you done this. In turn, unfortunately, when you cancelled your direct debit your account fell back onto call credit which, just like a Pay As You Go phone, stops calls once the available credit is finished. This was promptly resolved when your payments were brought up to date.

I am delighted that you are now receiving the service you wanted and am sorry that we weren’t able to continue as your provider. We wish you all the very best for the future.
