This is my 3rd time here

This is my 3rd time here, and the quality never varies.
The toilet block is first class always spotless thanks to Melissa who doesn’t skimp on cleaning
I appreciate it’s only a touring park but is well located for beach or Skegness town

Horrible reception staff

Really nice clean camp site, reception staff are horrible, called in there 4/5 times now looking to buy a static caravan, as nice as the site is we’re on the verge of not bothering now purely because the reception staff are so unhelpful and unaccommodating, which is a real shame because the camp site is so impressive.

Having been here a few times

Having been here a few times, this time I have decided to write a review. Fistly , the site is clean etc but has a few annoying drawbacks.
Site rules seem to be non existant and not applied.
Dogs off leads, kids playing ball games and riding skateboards and bicycles without much regards to others.
Doing wheelies next to vehicles and caravans etc.
Site is a bit like parking on a council estate where a constant flow of traffic seems to be flowimg.
The ablutions are very clean and looked after but everything else, well, Sunday morning woken up to grass being mowed and a chap walking between caravans with a petrol strimmer doesn't help when one has paid to get away from the noise.
Sat outside having a smoke when some chap is going around spraying weed killer and even chose to do it around my chair.
You cannot make this up. All in all , a, c minus.

Like staying in a car park

Staying on this site is like staying in a car park. It’s in inviting, rows of pitches with no personality. Check in receptionist was lovely and helpful but that’s where it ended. On check out the receptionist was verging on rude, did not even look up let alone ask why we were leaving 2 nights into a five night stay. She was Curt with the older lady in front of me, ignoring her until I walked into reception. We do not use any facilities but did go inside and they looked clean. Disappointing for us and we left as felt the site was not for us.

Skegness Sands Touring Site (Barham Caravan Co Ltd)
Very enjoyable!

This story happened on: 20/06/2019

First a personal message of thanks to the manger John, for the care attention he showed us and also, for all his guests and staff.

Secondly, from the moment I found this location via the Caravan and Motorhome Club and spoke to John, he showed total commitment to customer care, which shone through!

I was looking for a super site, as I am totally new to all this, as we have jumped in feet first and invested into a new Motorhome!

This was our second trip in the motorhome, but this time we wanted to stay in one location for a period of time, which would be our first actual experience of meeting new people on a site and enjoying what the local area had to offer!

Our first load of trips in the motorhome back in May 2019 was about getting used to pitching up and unhitching along with trying out different types of sites and services, so as to establish what we would then need to buy for these sites, plus it enabled us to get familiar with the vehicle and its habitation area.

As you will see from the site plan on Skegness Sands touring site, it offers an array of pitches and as I said, we wanted a super site. My pitch was 52, it was very large and I even had a strip of grass separating us further from the next pitch, which John sorted out. We had to one side at the rear of the pitch, two water taps and electric hock up and a grey waste outlet, which was nicely covered up with an aluminium flexible cover.

I was aware of some reviews moaning about which access they could use, but to be fair to the site, they made this clear to me!

In fact I don’t think they (the campsite) sing or shout load enough about the care, the service, or about the well cleaned facilities they offer (bye the way, the chap I saw cleaning the showers etc. was exceptionally good at his job, as he was on his knees cleaning round the base of a toilet, thank you sir) and why should they, you only have to see how many use them who like me, enjoyed themselves and felt very safe!

Now I said we are new to all this, which of 7 sites on our first trip all the onsite staff (even though we told them we were new), expected us to understand everything and didn’t tell us, or expand on matters so everything was that much more embarrassing for us! However I was pleased to see at Skegness Sands that the reception team, made sure that every guest understood how things work and what to do and even offered assistance (thank you again).

For dog lovers which we don’t have a dog, this site is very dog friendly and so is the beach and promenade (and Skegness as a whole), which is accessed by this sites private lockable gate that you get keys for including the main entrance (note you have to either pay £10.00 as a deposit for the key or you leave your membership card with reception as security).

It’s got a swimming pool, which costs £4.00 per person and opens at 10.00 in the morning and closes at 16.00 hours (and you buy the tickets from the sales office), which is very nice (note it does not have lockers) and is unique in terms of how you store your goods while swimming 🏊‍♀️

Even though I am new, I would strongly recommend this site to all for the care, services and pitches it offers, along with the feeling of security, but also the local amenities on offer!

I learned that the population of Skegness is about 25,000 people, but during the peak summer season, this rises to 300,000 people so it’s clearly a popular area to visit.

For anyone who can’t keep off social media while on holiday, or needs to catch up with work, the site does offer WiFi at a cost, which we in the end paid £5.00 for three days per item (i.e. phone, iPad or laptop) to access the internet...My advice on this now is don’t buy / pay for this WiFi! Its not the fault of the site, let me repeat this, it’s not the fault of the touring site, but it is the fault of service provider of lines in this area, as it can’t cope with the demands, so just use your own data as it took me up to six minutes just to down load a page (its hit and miss)!! They did offer to refund me!

The site is also very child friendly with a small play area, but really I never saw any children playing on them, mainly I am sure because they were on the beach, or at the swimming pool, or even down on the pier in Skegness, or at the pleasure beach within Skegness!

To close, the site through the club, does not have many pictures of itself, which had Trustpilot had the facility to upload photo's for the benefit of others, then I would have taken the liberty of attaching them accordingly and one of them would of been of John the manager!

10 our of 10 as far as I am concerned and I am not easy to please!
