I am extremely disappointed with my experience at S Keens. After they failed my vehicle's MOT in 2023 due to a broken CV boot clip, they later passed it following the remedial work of re-clipping the CV boot. However, in 2024, they flagged the same boot as leaking, with no visible damage, merely listing it as an advisory.
When preparing for my 2025 MOT, I specifically requested that they inspect the CV boot, especially since I’d noticed a squeaking noise after driving for over 30 minutes, likely due to a loss of oil. I dropped my vehicle off at 8 AM for this inspection and the MOT.
Upon collecting my vehicle later, they told me the boot was perished and needed replacement, prompting me to schedule an appointment for the following week. However, after returning home, I checked under the vehicle and discovered that the CV clip was loose. This clearly indicated that they hadn’t properly fixed it in 2023 and hadn’t conducted a thorough check in 2025, despite my specific request.
I’m not a mechanic, but I quickly purchased CV clips and grease online for just £20 and completed the task in 40 minutes. It’s concerning that a professional garage could not diagnose a loose clip and misrepresented the condition of the boot, suggesting it was perished when it simply wasn’t.
I am frustrated not only by the lack of knowledge displayed by the staff but also by the misleading information they provided regarding the work they allegedly carried out. I would NOT recommend S Keens to anyone. If you’ve had work done on your vehicle here, I urge you to seek a second opinion from a qualified mechanic to ensure you haven’t been misled.
