Long wait and no card payments over £100.

Ok not sure what went wrong this time as normally selecta tyre/pro tyre are ok. So booked my elderly mums car in for a simple two tyre replacement at Newark, popped in and booked the slot. Told her the time to arrive and thought no more about it. Unfortunately mum turned up on time and was told about an hour. So off she goes and returns to find car still on ramp not even started. 1 hour 20 mins later 3 fitter return (probably from lunch) and car eventually done 1 hour 45 mins later. Then it would appear Newark do not accept card payments over £100. Great would be good to know before you go to pay. Luckily mum had some cash to pay the rest. Come on guys do better, we book slots so you and the customers know when the car will be done if your having a group lunch don’t book cars in. ( if I’d have been there I’d have said dont bother I’ll take it elsewhere if it was still sat not even started after an hour.) and tell customers you don’t accept card payments over £100 BEFORE they drop the car off. And no card payments over £100 it’s 2026 not 1986.

Friendly service

This is my second visit to Selecta tyre in Belper. They were really helpful the first time and this visit they were really helpful and accommodating again, fitting me in on the day. All 3 staff who I spoke with were friendly and informative. Thank you - I will return!

I couldn’t have had a better experience…

I couldn’t have had a better experience than I did today at the Newark branch.
I had a puncture and was extreemly anxious about the whole situation I found myself in. I couldn’t have been in safer hands. The staff were polite and very helpful. They were efficient and had me back on the road in no time. You have found another customer.

Staffing at the Matlock Branch

I’ve been a customer of the Matlock branch for a dozen years or so and service has always been on the good side of acceptable, sometimes excellent.
Yesterday I was turned away for the first time, when I took the car in with a puncture and was told nobody could look at it until the day after tomorrow. No doubt the staff are not to blame, more the staffing. I went to Kwikfit, who did it within the hour. Selecta may have lost a customer.

Bredbury

After being fobbed off by a local car dealership, my husband took my car to Bredbury Selecta Tyre and was met by a very helpful, cheerful mechanic. The fault was diagnosed in less than 5 minutes. Unfortunately the tyre required was not in stock and a new tyre was ordered for delivery that afternoon. He returned at the requested time and the work was completed within 20 minutes. Would highly recommend them, first class service!

Belper

After an horrendous time with Halfords Derby I decided to pop into selecta tyres belper. Known now as protyre. The lads in there couldn't have been more helpful. I went home and booked online for the following day. I had 4 goodyear all seasons fitted along with a front wheel alignment. They all did a brilliant job. I am so pleased with the tyres. Very reasonably priced. I would highly recommend. Top service. Well done lads and thankyou!!

Near death experience

I used the Selecta Tyre in Montague Street Kettering.

I Went in for 4 new tyres as required for my MOT, a few weeks later the car started making a odd sound so took into a garage to have checked over and to my horror I was informed the following.

I was told that I was lucky to be alive as my passenger side front wheel had only 1 wheel nut left attached as the other 4 had fallen out.

This is extremely unacceptable and I will never be using or recommending Selecta again.

Buxton

Buxton
Buxton Selecta. I went in for a desperately needed tyre and was rightly told. I needed 2. They set to work and then asked me to look at a 3rd wheel - tyre was visibly good but he pointed out the wheel was red hot and the brakes had clamped on solid so by hand the wheel couldn’t be turned. I have a long journey ahead and if I’d have not stopped for the tyre I would have driven a dangerous vehicle not knowing at all until maybe an accident. They kept the car overnight and got me on the road at lunch in time for me to get to work. Brilliant service ,nice friendly folk and without their care and attention I would have. Had major problems. Thanks

Calliper chaos

I regret to say that my recent experience with Selecta Tyre on Montagu Street has left me extremely dissatisfied, and I will not be returning to this branch. Over the course of two weeks, my confidence in the company's professionalism and reliability has significantly eroded.

I initially booked in for a service that included the replacement of brake pads and discs after being advised that they were worn. On the day of the appointment, I was informed that the work could not be completed due to a seized brake calliper that required replacement. As the part needed to be ordered, I rescheduled for the following Friday.

On the rescheduled date, I received a call around midday stating that the incorrect calliper had been ordered. I was told that a replacement had been reordered—apparently at the employee’s personal expense—and should arrive by 3pm. Later that afternoon, I received another call explaining that the new part was again incorrect and that an attempt to reinstall the original calliper had resulted in a damaged piston, rendering my car unusable for the weekend. This caused significant disruption, particularly as my partner works away, leaving us without transport at short notice. I was advised during a subsequent conversation—held by my partner—that a discount would be applied as compensation for the inconvenience.

On the following Monday, I was informed the vehicle was ready for collection. Upon arrival, I sought clarification about the attempted reinstallation of the damaged calliper and expressed concern about potential safety issues. I was met with a dismissive response: "Well, you've been driving with a seized calliper all week." As someone with only a basic understanding of vehicle safety, I found this comment condescending and unhelpful. Furthermore, the individual who made the initial remark then took a call from another customer and stated, 'Apologies for the delay, I was dealing with a problem'—a comment that I found highly unprofessional, particularly given that I, a customer, was still present and awaiting resolution. I was then pressured to proceed with payment while still attempting to voice my concerns, which I had communicated calmly and respectfully.

As a professional myself, I understand the pressures of working to tight deadlines and targets. I also appreciate that a discount was offered in recognition of the disruption caused (hence the two stars). However, the attitude I encountered and the lack of empathy or reassurance regarding my vehicle’s safety have made this experience highly disappointing. Entrusting a company with such an important responsibility should come with confidence and peace of mind—both of which were absent in this instance.

Eskidaill Road Kettering Branch
I cannot rate this place highly enough - the guys went above and beyond to ensure that everything was sorted with my car.
Although not the nearest garage for me I will be using them again as the journey is worth it for the excellent service.

Unfriendly my 1st visit and my last l…

Unfriendly my 1st visit and my last l only wanted a new battery. They were checking my tyres l asked what they were doing and was told my tyres only had 15psi in them all my tyres are new. I checked the tyres as soon as I left the garage they read 42psi a total sales gimmick.
The battery was covered in dust and low of charge been on the shelf for a long period of time. Disgraceful Service.
On top of that Expensive checked the net average prices £46 to £54 lnc.
I was charged £80.28 l took it home and fitted myself took 15mins.

Selecta Tyre Kettering.....

Selecta Tyre Kettering...... Bobby and the team helped me out of a big hole today when I ended up with a 2 inch gash in my front tyre. At very short notice after a recovery vehicle trip, they managed to squeeze me in and my nightmare ceased. Thank you one and all!

Wrong suspension spring fitted up side down

Selecta tyre Ashbourne, fitted a new front suspension spring on my Yeti. Cost nearly £400. Two months later I had a breakdown caused by the CV boot being held on by a plastic zip tie, which had failed. The Skoda dealer found the wrong spring had been fitted (upside down) and it cost £600 to replace it and put a proper metal clip on the CV joint. A video report was made by the Skoda dealer in Eastbourne to prove this.
