I won't recommend second life for anyone else!!

I won't recommend second life for anyone else! It's very dangerous platform I ever came across in network. Trust me! It's look good and interesting as beginner because they led to explore the virtual world as free basic account. Once you started to explore in world, you get addicted to it. Later, you upgrade your account to premium account. You start to create avatar as much as possible to look hot and attractive by spending your rl money on it. I have been in second life for one and half year where I met lot of people spending more real money just to buy virtual stuffs in second life. Even they don't care about their money, how they wasted for virtual in world. Second life gives fake hope and illusion for people's unmet fantasies. You don't need to bother or worry about your action as like in real life. This is how I got addicted! I don't need to do anything in my real. All I need to do, just login in virtual and fulfil my unmet dreams just by sitting at my bed. That's sounds cool! I don't need to get off my comfortable zone and do hard work as like in real life. If you think you have lot of issues and anxiety or depression, second life is not a good opinion for you. I am damn sure that you gonna to ruin your real life than before. In conclusion, I was really never bothered to lose things in real life like money, relationship and family which virtual can't replace and never. I ignored everything for second life illusions which hooks deep in your brain. Now, I regret and wasted my whole one year in second life. DON'T FALL FOR FAKE ILLUSION!!

Second Life is dangerous and disgusting.

Second Life is a legitimately dangerous place. Scripting is still capable of harvesting IP addresses. People are contacted in Real Life via Second Life and many bad things have occurred. The software is largely obsolete and the activities are predominately sexual. Second Life showed promise but clearly Linden Labs is focused on virtual sex. I went there for years to play live music for people. It was nothing but a fiasco. Linden Labs are pornographers.

I love Secondlife so much

I love Secondlife so much for a few reasons. It has a massive world with so many places to explore and go to. There are many lovely events, shopping places, clubs and atmospheric places. Because of coming back to this game I have felt inspired to begin creating things again to then upload into the world. Some people have been really lovely in the game also. I am often invited to clubs and parties that are happening in secondlife. As for earning lindens.. it can be difficult but I tend to go fishing if desperate or i enter raffles or use a little real money. Though the amount of money I have spent is truly worth it because you do get quite a nice amount of lindens even for paying a small amount. Compared to other games I feel like this game is worth spending some money on if you can. Though if you can't it doesn't matter because there are thousands of gifts to be found in secondlife and ways to earn lindens.

This game is trash

This game is trash. They don't even give your free coins for making an account, which is bad etiquette. You literally can't do anything unless you use actual money to buy their fake currency. The directions to play are horrible; I mean the worse. It's so disappointing. I tried this game out because I was reading about virtual worlds in a book and decided to google some. It took me three hours just to find other users in the virtual world and the set up is horrible. I'm soo disappointed. Do not spend your money on this game.

I am a retired artist

I am a retired artist. I have been on SL for a LONG time. I love creating with the various tools available. One can find textures so that any culture or style in history can be replicated. You make the items you wish to use. I used to sell mine in a store but enjoyed creating so much that I dropped the store and just make one new thing after another for the sheer pleasure of it. I also do a LOT of photography. The control of "sets" and lighting, as well as being able to create different "creatures" makes more variety than I find in shooting in real life.

Second Life is a great game to meet and make friends, sure there are some rotten people who play the game and believe that they are god's gift to the world and that the terms of service do not apply to them, but they get felt with by the report abuse function and the ability to.block those that cause you distress, customer service for me has been great as a premium member to the game o get live chat support from the customer service team p

refusal to work with customers

This company will not refund your money if they terminate your service 30 days into a 365 day contract or even work with you and deduct the difference. Poor customer service skills and terrible customer retention. After 15 years of time and dedication I will never recommend this game to anyone ever again.

The game already costs too much money…

The game already costs too much money just to get started then they want to turn around and tax you for every little Penny you spend is bs will not be Continuing when IMVU is much cheaper. If it was tax-free it be worth it but it's not tax-free and they are asking for too much money. Well all know they make 1000$ just from the free accounts being made alone just like facebook another games and 20$ dose not get you jack S in this game, they do not give you anything for free, just getting a boy you have to spend that right off the back, and even in the game you get texted. Sorry much rather go out a buy the sims and get to do whatever I want.

staying together

second life is good because if my husband is away for a while we can come on here and it's like we are not apart. I also meet some really cool people and hang out with my friends when i'm away out of state. I just think this is the BEST thing to keep in touch and stay together.. this is the only thing I would put my money into. I thank the person who made this happen..

Very badly run on every level

Very badly run on every level. Linden Labs are just a bunch of basement dwelling techs, who do not have the first idea about running a business or customer service. There is an insidious culture of bullying and Linden Labs protect the bullies and give them the power to ruin, what could be a great platform. You will spend a lot of money and get absolutly no support if you need it. As for becoming a creator, then think again, hard work and success are not rewarded here. If you do well, linden labs would rather support those who are jealous of your success. My advice would be to have no part of this platform. Do not support these people who think they can take your money and laugh in your face when you need their help. Horrible, unhealthy environment which harbours every form of devience and low life activity known to man. Nasty Nasty thing!

An expensive waste of time

I played Second Life for over 7 years. In that time I lost 3 accounts, with Linden Labs keeping all of the money and inventory I had had. Two accounts were closed for complaints about harassment and scamming. Apparently I reported the wrong people and was banned as a result. The third account was lost due to billing issues. I had signed up for a Premium account during a promotion and forgotten to renew or cancel at the end of the promo. Because they no longer had billing information on file instead of returning the account to a regular one they locked it. I filed several tickets asking for resolution but never heard back.

In my opinion, Second Life is an addictive waste of time. When you do a search there seems to be lots to do but most sims are empty. You'll find hundreds of abandoned clubs, role play areas and events completely deserted. The only popular places are the shopping events where you pour in money to play the equivalent of grown up Barbie dolls, dressing your avatar and buying things you don't need. If you're there to have sex you'll find a lot of locations and any time you search anything all the ads will be for sex places but even most of these will be empty. If virtual sex doesn't appeal to you there's not much else to do. I tried to create content but the market is flooded so without contacts you won't succeed. The biggest issue I have is that since the invention of mesh, you need to lay down around $100 to get a decent basic avatar and keep it updated. Many people spend thousands. If you're not willing to spend a lot you won't get anything out of it. However this is a scam as there is a large up front processing fee to buy the game currency and a large fee to withdraw the currency. You end up shorted around $10 for a small withdrawl.

Most people I've met over the years have had accounts closed suddenly without warning. I've had friends banned for reporting on scam merchandise. I've had friends banned for supposedly stealing other people's creations even though no one had ever contacted them to complain. I've had friends banned for sexual age play even though they didn't have child avatars. I've had friends banned for asking for help blocking stalkers and harassers. I've had friends who feel they were banned for refusing virtual sexual advances from staff. There seems to be a correlation between how much money you spend and how you're treated.

On the whole I wouldn't recommend this game to anyone. It's not appropriate for kids, teens or anyone of a sensitive nature. You will see animals having sex, massive sexual organs on people in ordinary places like the shopping mall, bloated sexual imagery on most sims and bombardment of sexual advertising everywhere you look. The game seems to bring out the worst in people so there are lots of rape sims, kidnap games, sexual torture sites, kiddie sex sims, incest roleplay and more along with hate speech and harassment. People feel more comfortable expressing the worst of themselves from the anonymous game.

For adults there seems little to do aside from having sex. The roleplay areas are empty and the clubs are empty. There used to be gambling casinos but those have been banned. Playing a child avatar is risky and will probably result in ban if someone is inappropriate with you (they will not be banned of course). If you use Kemono anime body you will be banned. Farming pops up now and again and quickly dies out so your investment will be wasted. Meeting people is difficult as most have dozens of alternate avatars. The number of sign ups and players Second Life says they have must be taken with a grain of salt as nearly everyone has alts and some have hundreds. Others are played by bots. Bots are used to fool you into making it seem like an area has traffic but when you arrive there won't be anyone to talk to. If you want a game with achievements and goals find something else and if you want a creative platform try deviantart or open simulator.

Fitch Linden Owns SecondLife

fitch linden extorts users for information about them, stealing their money, before destroying their account and and snubbing them out of the game if they are not wealthy or important enough to comply.

a birth certificate is required to play this game.

failure to comply will result in you being robbed by the lindens.

It's great if you're interested in…

It's great if you're interested in watching cartoon avatars have sex and if you're into extreme perversions like furry or pedophilia. Also, you get no support from Second Life. If you create things they will purposefully destroy all that you build and then take it and sell it for themselves. Beware! You could put a lot of time and energy into something only to see it stolen and used by them.

Avoid at any Cost

A virtual world should be a place of freedom to create, express and experience, but Second Life's fundamental and unresolved technical flaws, insane pricing, and hostile and tyrannical staff ensure that there is no such thing as freedom there.

Want a plot of land to call your own? On top of a $72USD/year premium account you are expected to pay up to $295USD/month for a share of hardware that costs $6USD/month or less from any decent cloud computing provider. Prices for Second Life are nothing short of extortion, limited by virtual resources that ensure you cannot do anything meaningful without paying for something that doesn't actually exist.

Because what does your money really pay for? A hideous graphical experience built upon an unreliable platform that can lag or go offline at any moment without compensation. The content creation tools are pathetic, the scripting support hilariously bad; the only thing about Second Life that has ever been worth a damn were the residents, and it's been haemorrhaging those for years as they all eventually get sick of it.

Even worse, NOTHING in Second Life belongs to you. You do not own anything you create, or anything you buy with your real money, because Linden Lab's terms and conditions ensure that you have no legal right to anything, and it can all be taken away from you at any moment by vindictive staff for any reason.

The development and support staff for Second Life range from absurdly incompetent to wilfully vindictive. I attempted to complain about staff misconduct and had my accounts terminated for my trouble, losing everything I had ever created or purchased in 12 years as a paying customer.

In Second Life your time, your money mean nothing to Linden Lab; unless you are happy to pour money into their pockets without complaint, they will cast you aside in an instant. And that's before even mentioning the rampancy of pornography, gambling, hostility and trolling on an industrial scale within the platform. It is a virtual world that is effectively unmanaged, run by staff who hate each every one of their customers.

This a company and platform that is best avoided at any cost, as you will only live to regret not doing so.
