Takes Your Money And Gives Little
My brothers and I signed up in January 2020 to get help for our invalid mother's care in an assisted living facility or a nursing home. We signed a contract, and had some early contact with the social worker Scott Counsel had available for us, both of my brothers meeting her in person on the same day my brothers signed the contract, and then soon thereafter phone calls stopped being returned, whether they were to Justin Scott, the owner of Scott Counsel or to the social worker.
The social worker informed us she found it impossible to receive phone calls from all three brothers, wanting only one person to telephone her. Although one brother volunteered to be the spokesperson for the family at the social worker's request, other issues later came up when my brother was not available to serve as the spokesperson, and yet whatever phone calls the other brothers made to the social worker, they were not returned.
When I telephoned Justin Scott to complain of the non-responsiveness of the social worker, Justin Scott was not available, though he once telephoned me with his cell phone while I wasn't at home, and though I tried to call him back, he never returned my call.
One of my brothers received an email update as to the "progress" Scott Counsel was making with my mother whose health was now deteriorating and whose care was less than satisfactory in which the assisted living facility the social worker had agreed to place her. My other brother and myself were not kept in the loop as to this so-called "progress" Scott Counsel was making for our mother and on our behalf, so we were left completely uninformed.
An office manager contacted me still later informing us that a new social worker was replacing the earlier one. The office manager failed to state that this new social worker was incredibly green and inexperienced and worked only two days a week. We had signed up with a full-time social worker and now we were receiving less than half the services we originally agreed to pay for.
In speaking with the new social worker today I learned she was not familiar with Mom's case, even though she visited the assisted living center around her time of hire in order to see my mother and meet one of my brothers. She told me she hasn't answered my phone call from Friday, as she does not work on Friday.
I told the new social worker that we urgently need her help as we have to make a decision soon about moving Mom to a new facility, a nursing home, as she is not receiving adequate care at the assisted living center the earlier social worker placed her in. Rather than express her willingness to help, the social worker took umbrage to my conclusion about her poor knowledge of the case, and decided she did not like my tone of voice or attitude, and hung up on me. This behavior comes from a woman who excused herself three days earlier from answering my phone call to her because she does not work Fridays.
It is now March and my brothers and I are scratching our heads collectively as to what we actually get for our initial $12,500 for elderly law services from Scott Counsel. My brothers were informed that next week there is going to be a new Power of Attorney needing to be signed but I was not notified of this plan and I do not know if I'm going to be invited to sign the legal paperwork electronically or not.
Again, I telephoned Justin Scott to complain about all the mishaps and lack of response my brothers and I have experienced at the hands of this corporation, and like the last time I called, an office manager informed me Mr. Scott was unavailable since he was in a seminar and not able to be reached. No one else was available to address the serious concerns my brothers and I have.
