Looked up my URL and was at 66% rating. Since I leave my "whois" information redacted at the registrar to avoid getting spammed, I thought maybe that was why. I wrote to scam-detector to learn why. My authenticity apparently checked out enough to have my URL rating fixed up to 100%.

Scam-Detector is a scam sight as they try to sell you several online protection services hyping fear of course. Completely invalid review of a business I was looking into, they even had the industry incorrect. Also when reviewing their own website of course they have a 100% positive review even though they have email popups and sell dubious safety services along with inaccurate bot derived worthless reviews of other businesses and websites.

I doubt they have enough information to be able to give a review. I have also ordered things from some of the companies they have "told" you to stay away from and it worked great, I don't trust them

scam-detector has not enough info or data to give rating by own, does Google has given right to this website it's showing with mostly website with his rating.

This morning I was surprised to see our site was rated a moderate risk by Spam Detective. As our whole approach is based on integrity and fairness to the user, I immediately messaged them. By lunchtime they had responded, and had amended our entry. I was extremely impressed with this.

Context: We have a small business that like many SMBs we rely on word of mouth from our network and organic search traffic results. Given the high-quality focus on our offerings, any reviews, references, claims made about our products and services or those we provide should be easily validated by multiple sources as we take great care to ensure that we can be independently verified.

Domain Authority Check: We reviewed our domain against multiple domain authority checkers and were receiving a trust score of 90 - 94 out of 100 or equivalent rating. This shouldn't happen when each of these sites is using the same source data, - this is big red flag no 1.

Issue: we now suspect the site isnt a legitimate service, as upon investigation they require we supply our company registration details to have our site updated. This is the second big red flag (because that is already on our website).

Validation Methods:
• Check Reviews: We looked for reviews from multiple sources who provide the same trust services.
• Contact Information: we investigated the contact and company information, including a physical address and customer service details as well as information to check their business registration details.
• Website Design and Content: Professional websites typically have well-written content and a polished design. Poor grammar, spelling mistakes, and low-quality images or spam such as lots of advertising and lots of links are warning signs.
• Transparency: Legitimate sites are transparent about their services, policies, and ownership and follow the law to address issues and operate with integrity.
• Avoids Predatory Practices: Avoids the use of fearmongering to pressure vulnerable individuals into providing something in exchange for the products or services.

What We Found:
• Is the Company Legit (Registered): We were unable to verify company registration as per contact details for companies in both Puerto Rico and the USA. Scam Detector Media Inc claims to be a registered company as incorporated in Puerto Rico via registrations website and public listings from the Government of Puerto Rico, department of State Corporation Search.
• Predatory Practices: Creates a threat to extort money or data from individuals. The site requires that you provide a lot of details about your business to 'verify' the information and resolve the issue - despite in our case this already being provided and available publically within our local government authority.
• Website Design and Content: The site is clearly generating revenue from onsite advertising hosting with 17 ad spots on the results page of the URL query form. This is a nasty messy site that is using referral ad content to create clickbait which appears to be in-page content designed to get you to click on the ad thinking it is just information from the page itself.
• Reviews and Reported Evidence of Claims: We were quickly able to check other domains that provide this service – many for free and were getting hugely different results. These sites noted the sources of their information, and many are updated regularly so there is no reason for the published content to be out of date at all.

Overall, this site fails the most basic of checks and in our review should be shut down to protect the public until such times it can meet these validations or more as genuine concern.
Trust pilot you need to do a better job - you verified this business through only a domain registration and have ignored genuine business validation checks which you have published as not done. You are helping to promote this activity by adding a badge of authority to this organisation.

Checked my own website and discovered a very low score. I contacted the site and gave them the necessary proof that the site was for a reliable business here in France. They corrected the score the next day and confirmed the modification by e-mail from their Consumer Care department.

As a small business owner I was checking to see if another website was a scam, and out of curiosity looked up my own website. When I noticed it was rated poorly I reached out to the scam-detector admin team. They responded quickly and efficiently. Scams are a big problem online, especially for legitimate small businesses who need to be able to show potential customers that they are trustworthy. I'm glad there are sites out there like this one.
