Government-owned company delivering the…
Government-owned company delivering the worst possible service:
I have two separate cases with SAS - and I have truly never had a worse experience with customer care.
They spend 8 weeks responding to my cases, they mix them up, they do not have a phone number which makes it impossible to discuss my case with them. My case has been going on since January - and some off-shore customer care is trying to handle it without ANY knowledge about the case.
I must truly say, that I did not think service could be so bad. And to think that this company is partly owned by the government.
Absolutely abysmal customer service
Absolutely abysmal customer service. SAS canceled my flight just days before departure, forcing me to buy tickets with another airline. When I contacted their chat support to ensure my return flight wouldn't be canceled as a "no-show," I was trapped in a surreal, hour-long loop of incompetence.
I was bounced from a useless bot to human agents who literally kept transferring the chat to themselves. One agent made me wait only to blame "technical issues" and abandon the chat. The next agent finally agreed to fix my booking, asked for "a few minutes" to process it, left me waiting for over 20 minutes, marked me as inactive, and then restarted the chat with "How can I support you today?".
It is completely disrespectful of their customers' time and incredibly stressful when you are just trying to secure a valid ticket after they ruined your original travel plans. Avoid their chat support at all costs—it is a broken system.
KLM / SAS (Malaga- schipol- oslo ) After…
Layover@ schiphol( from Malaga ,Spain) couldnt online check this SAS operated KLM flight Schiphol -Oslo.
Schiphol SAS floorstaffs couldnt manually check us in on their system( EU/ Norwegian ID ) told this is’nt our flight and to approach the KLM counter (boarding already started)
Confused and stressed out we ran across gates to KLM to be sent back immediately with a voucher ( which says SAS is responsible for this KLM flight and its passengers)
On returning the gate On and approaching SAS staffs the 2nd time, one of the 2 lady staffs shoved me rudely and later on aggressively insisted that we return to KLM as we are not their passengers and this was’nt their problem to fix and that she cannot help us..
She gave me back my phone told me to step aside and now totally ignoring me.
( didn't help a bit showing the voucher, tickets nor mentioning seat numbers.)
Frustrated, and exhausted from running around, I asked her to communicate with KLM and to try and fix the issue instead of making me and my 2 children ( age 8 and 14) run back and forth through gates when we already are late for boarding.
(I have invisible disability with a serious health condition and i should not stand so much let alone run around with heavy bags.)
Probably stressed out from delayed flight, me protesting her ordering me around hit her button .She snapped and abruptly stopped me mid sentence, her palm right in front of my face, hand gesturing me me blah blah gave me a disgust look and said" YOUR MOUTH" !! probably knowing she cant said it loud she zipped her mouth signaling me to shut up!! And continued with patronizing me not to raise my voice!! I was shocked !!
As a Nurse working for 22 years i can say i know a thing or two about service and have done my share of travelling and never have I experienced nor seen this level arrogance, disrespect and rudeness from a service personnel.
The lack of professionalism ,humility and the level of incompetency in managing stressful passengers especially with children in the picture is appalling and shocking.
No apologies on handing me the boarding pass after their failure was detected and fixed by a manager at the very last minute.
So shaken by the whole episode that i was and at the Verge of breaking down halfway through our 1,5 hour flight to Oslo.
And of course to make this trip more memorable, our baggages were not loaded..
positives:
We finally got our baggages 2 days after, luckily intact.
Sweedish / norwegin staffs on board were courteous and helpful
Leg room is spacious..
but that one Traumatizing episode and with floor staff @ Schipol is a reason good enough for me to never want to travel with SAS in the future.
Unfriendly and unhelpful
Yet another substandard experience with SAS on something completely within their control: customer care. It seems that whenever SAS personnel is faced with a choice between being pleasant and customer focused and…well, not, they choose to be unfriendly and inconsiderate.
Having read some of the reviews here, this seems quite consistent.
There are things beyond the control of SAS and sometimes logistics don’t work as they ideally should, but how a service company (which SAS is) treats its customers is the one way they can make up. However, SAS personnel appear to be so categorically un-service-minded that one would think that they have been trained and instructed to be mildly rude and disinterested in treating their customers with kindness and consideration.
I try to avoid flying with SAS.
On this occasion it was the person at the gate.
It was the worst travel experience of…
It was the worst travel experience of my life.
To begin with, SAS cancelled our original direct flight from Copenhagen to Los Angeles and rebooked us on a flight two days later with a connection in JFK. The layover was only 1 hour and 35 minutes, which is completely unreasonable for an international arrival in the United States. At JFK, passengers must go through immigration, collect their baggage, transfer to another terminal, and check in again for the next flight. I only learned this after arriving, which makes SAS’s decision even more unacceptable.
How could SAS possibly consider this to be a viable connection? It was obvious from the start that such a short layover would make it nearly impossible to catch the onward flight. Unsurprisingly, we missed it, were rebooked yet again, and only arrived in Los Angeles the following day.
As a result of SAS’s poor planning, we missed our rental car reservation and had to pay extra costs. The entire journey was stressful, badly handled, and completely avoidable.
SAS was once considered one of the best airlines in Europe, but based on this experience, it now feels worse than even low-cost carriers like EasyJet and Ryanair.
A Preventable Travel Disaster Caused by Poor Communication
I was originally booked on a direct SAS flight departing 22 March at 19:15, but I was forced to leave instead on an early morning flight at 09:20 with a layover. I discovered the cancellation myself during online check‑in at 16:15 on 21 March, and SAS only informed me officially at 17:06 on 22 March. No assistance or care was provided. During my call with SAS customer service, the agent hung up on me when I asked for written confirmation that SAS would cover the checked‑baggage fee he had forgotten in the rebooking. When I called back, customer service had already closed. He had also failed to rebook one of my children, leaving us without complete tickets. As a result, I was forced to pay for the baggage at the airport and buy two entirely new tickets with another airline—one for my child and one for one adult—since I obviously could not leave a 16‑year‑old behind in Rome. Customer service did not reopen until after the departure of the new flight they booke 3 out of four of us, so I had no support from SAS at the time I urgently needed assistance. Because of the disruption, I also had to cancel prepaid activities and lost one out of four days of my trip. The situation caused significant inconvenience, as I nearly risked not returning in time for work on Monday morning. Additionally, my baggage was delayed for several days when I arrived. The baggage was not on board, forcing me to purchase essential items such as toiletries, make‑up, and medication at my own expense.
Unsolved case from Oct 2025 (it's now nearly April 2026)
I created EuroBonus accounts for myself and all my famiily after a sommer holiday last year. I created a group to pool the points earned and everything was in order.
Then at the end of September, none of us could login to the sas web sites and euro bonus site. I contacted support and explained the problem and after many attempts at resetting passwords etc. a case was created for the attention of the IT dept.
I'm still waiting here at the end of March. I have regularly contacted them to get a status, only to find out the the case has either been closed or paused. The case gets reopened with promises of progress, but nothing has changed.
I now have points I can't use and have subsequently spent over 26.000 kr. for which I cannot claim new points.
This is very frustrating and extremely unprofessional.
I was prompted to write this after yet another interaction with the support staff, who I should mention seem very nice and willing to help, but are just unable in this case)
Really bad airline
Really bad airline. First 45 minutes delay home from Berlin today because SAS cannot handle the luggage correctly, and then the pilot delays the flight for additional 15 minutes as he was not able to land the plane on the intended runway. Cannot recommend.
12 hours in a freezer
They do not train their service agents well. I was given wrong information that almost cost me approx. 4000 kr but lucky for me the call was recorded and l got my money back. I also didnt have the best experince in the fligth since l couldnt find room for my luggage and the steward was not interested in helping me find space. Finally the plane was kept so cold that it felt like sitting in a freezer for 12 hours even with two pants, two tops, a hoodie, a winter scarff and two of the SAS blankets. I know the reasons why airplanes are better cool but this was torture!
Check-in doesn't work
They send a link saying check-in is open, and then you can't check-in. Such crap system, what's the point of the email!!!???
Issues with a claim (#07473669)
Issues with a claim (#07473669) - waiting for 2 months with no status update.
Very disappointing first experience…
Very disappointing first experience with SAS. I accidentally purchased an extra checked bag for €55 even though my ticket already included baggage. I noticed immediately and contacted customer service, but they refused to refund the unused fee. A small goodwill gesture would have made a big difference, especially for a first-time traveler with the airline. Instead, the rigid policy and lack of flexibility left a very poor impression.
SAS lost a customer today
SAS lost a customer today and not because of a strike.
My flight from Brussels to Copenhagen on 12 March was cancelled due to a union strike. That part is not SAS’ fault. What is their fault is the complete lack of flexibility in solving the problem.
Since no flights leave Brussels that day, I suggested a simple solution: change my departure airport to Amsterdam. I would take the train from Brussels and still fly home with SAS the same day. I even offered to pay any ticket difference myself.
Not possible due to “internal procedures”.
Fine. Then refund the ticket so I could rebook the exact same SAS flight from Amsterdam myself.
Also not possible due to “internal procedures”.
The only options SAS could offer were:
• Fly on 13 March at 19:45
• Change to 11 March with a connection in Stockholm and an overnight stay at the airport
Neither option was remotely reasonable. One required cancelling important private plans. The other meant cutting my business trip short and sleeping in an airport.
In other words, the only solutions offered were solutions that simply do not work.
The frustrating part is that the problem had an obvious and simple fix. I could still have flown with SAS. I was even willing to cover the cost difference myself. Instead, the answer was repeatedly that it was impossible because of internal procedures.
That raises a simple question: why does SAS maintain procedures that actively prevent practical solutions for customers?
So instead of flying SAS, I booked a flight with KLM from Amsterdam on the 12th.
SAS did not lose a customer because of a strike. They lost a customer because their organization appears incapable of applying basic flexibility when problems arise.
After purchasing my ticket (with…
After purchasing my ticket (with insurance included), the insurance was cancelled. I was not given any reason for the cancellation of my insurance and, furthermore, I cannot repurchase insurance before my trip. They did not refund me for the insurance either. I will definitely never purchase an SAS flight again in the future.
C'è sempre una prima volta, ma anche l'ultima...
Yesterday, February 26, 2026.
I took a flight to Tallinn yesterday morning from Milan Malpensa at 9:15 am, with a stopover in Copenhagen and then on to Tallinn, with an estimated arrival time of 3:00 pm.
As soon as I landed, I received a message that my flight had been cancelled, with no explanation given.
They rescheduled me for a flight to Helsinki at 5:40 pm, arriving at 8:40 pm, and then another flight to Tallinn at 9:20 pm, with a delay of another 20 minutes.
Result?
From waking up at 5:30 am in Milan, I arrived in Tallinn at 10:15 pm, over 7 hours late.
No one cared about anything, they didn't offer any alternatives, not even a meal or coffee.
Terrible customer service, with no care or sense of responsibility.
Tomorrow afternoon, February 28, 2026, I have to return to Milan from Tallinn, and I hope for a trouble-free trip.
My first flight experience with SAS - Scandinavian Airlines SAS - SCANDINAVIAN AIRLINES CUSTOMER REVIEWS AND COMPLAINTS SUPPORT
@SAS - Scandinavian Airlines
...speechless...very bad.
Ieri, 26 febbraio 2026.
Lost and delayed luggage
My suitcase was lost, and SAS made no meaningful effort to locate it. It was only recovered because I personally arranged for a friend working at the airport to search for it. He found it quickly and notified the company—something SAS should have done themselves.
When the suitcase was finally delivered to me a week later, after I had repeatedly received delayed and incorrect information, I discovered that half of my belongings were missing. SAS has been unable to explain how or where the items disappeared from my bag. Furthermore, I have received no communication regarding compensation or assistance in recovering my missing belongings.
This situation reflects an unacceptable level of service and handling of my property.
