Avoid. Diamonds are luxury, this company isn’t
If you are considering making a purchase from Sansoeurs, do not. The valuation for the ring I purchased online, which arrived a day before the start of the 2nd UK lockdown, came at less than half its price tag (inflated in sterling, too).
Before purchasing, I asked for reassurances on the standard and origin of the diamonds. I was lead to believe I’d receive a certificate of colour and quality, as well some paperwork on the origin. In actuality, what arrived with the diamond was a business card that simply stated G/VS - so you must take their word for it; do not. I thought “perhaps the paperwork is coming separately”. I should have sent it back straight away.
The ring arrived packed in an ordinary card box, with bad-quality printed promotional postcards, and the business card I mention above. The quality of the packaging and stationary should again have made alarm-bells ring. The actual box for the ring is elegant in black velvet material. No certificates or guarantees on fair origin are available.
When I heard on the valuation, delayed by a month due to the lockdown, and I asked to return the item, they refused to provide an address for the return, arguing the delay in the valuation is none of their business. This is in spite of the Spanish government issuing, for the Spanish March lockdown, a law that asked business to extend return periods during lockdown. They also stopped replying to my emails when I asked for “hojas de reclamación”, a complaints procedure which is a legal requirement for stores in Spain.
Overall a most disappointing experience, not a brand that is at the level of the materials they sell: diamonds are a luxury and this store is substandard at everything, from packaging, to product, to attention to detail, to post-sale service or even any attempt at managing their PR. A real shame that has left me seeking legal advice. Will stick to makers I know well in the future, hoping to spare someone else the heartache!
