Dated but clean and working

In truth, the lodge was not in the first flush of youth. It was clean and tidy. We had a problem with the hot tub (entirely my fault) we rang the emergency number and with in 10 minutes Kelly turned to fix the problem. This was achieved with minimal fuss. The tub was checked every day.
This lodge is not for those who prefer the latest in luxury but it is for those who like the country and wildlife. It's close to local attractions.

Rosewood Stud

On arrival at Rosewood Stud (no. 6) the door was very stiff to open the lodge was dark very outdated & tired, the shelving on the inside of the fridge door was missing. In both the twin bedrooms one of the headboards were broken none of the inside doors were properly fixed, great big gaps no stool in the double bedroom dressing room, the ends of the curtain poles were loose no coffee table in the lounge area no games or leaflets on surrounding areas, no clock in the lodge worn out sofas, mould in the showers of both bathrooms, hot tub very dirty & uneven you could feel the dirt with your feet & the water funny colour. Maintenance man in the morning just threw a tablet in the hot tub no checking of the state of it, we only used it the once. Kitchen sink almost blocked took ages for the water to go down, no dessert spoons only soup spoons, handle on the cooker very loose no markings on the cooker dials & couldn’t control main oven temp. The description stated a lovely view over the river but the trees were so big all we could see was a stagnant river full of green Algae the trees also blocked the sun which made the lodge dark.
The pictures that are on the website are from when they were first erected about 15years ago they are totally different now & to advertise these as luxury is extremely misleading. On all the beds you could feel the springs and were very uncomfortable. I would certainly not recommend this if luxury is what you are after.

Poor quality not up to standard

I attended the lodges for a wedding and a 3 night stay. On face value they are lovely but then reality sets in. We stayed in pet friendly lodge 4. This isn’t pest friendly and my dog was able to get through the decking to the lake at the bottom of the lodges. The fence should have a net or Perspex to stop this happening to small dogs!
The lake at the bottom of the lodges was stagnant and due to the hot weather let off an horrendous stench.
The hot tub is very worn and we were told it would be cleaned everyday. This didn’t happen but more chorine was added with gave me irritated skin along with my friends in the next door lodge. So these are not well maintained at all. So be aware using the hot tubs if you don’t want chlorine burns.
The lodge itself is definitely not luxury and is very dated and the sofas were incredibly smelly and dirty to the point we had to cover them so we could sit on it.
The floor is broken in the kitchen and bathroom where you could fall through. The shower screen broke, the shower thermostat is also broken and that means the shower is one temp and that is scolding hot! Not good and very dangerous. The wardrobes are shoddy and split and one was recovered so didn’t match.
I have stayed in much nicer lodges for half this price.. this is a poor value for money and if I was there for anything other than my friends wedding I would of complained and wanted some money back.
I do not leave reviews often but I felt this was worthy of a review as this place needs some work to do to make it a luxury lodge.

Reiterating everything that has been…

Reiterating everything that has been said previously, I wish I had done my research before booking for my sons birthday getaway 😪

We paid for a long weekend as a short getaway, arrived late Friday and the hottub was very cloudy with a tinge of green. My 5 year old, whos birthday it was, dipped in for 10 minutes that evening, he had showered before leaving the house, he doesn't use body creams or deodorant ect the next morning it had got worse (photos taken as proof)
Called the owner, who by all means was supposed to be round every morning by 8am as per the guest book, he hadn't been hence the call. He arrived around 4pm, it took 3 attempts to make contact and he eventually returned my call. He arrived, added more water, no test was done and no chlorine added.

We did all use it Saturday evening for an hour I'd say, no the little ones didn't shower but we did as been out all day, the next morning it was absolutely foul. Again I called as no early morning visit, he didn't test or add chlorine so needless to say we didn't use either the Sunday or Monday.

Hoseasons have fobbed me off saying they are just the agent. The owner has told them I didn't complain even though he admitted I called him on numerous occasions and this leaves me with no other avenue apart from legal action which Im seriously considering.

This is not a luxury accommodation, the bathrooms stink, the mattresses and full of springs sticking out, the outside furniture is old and tired and as for the owner he has absolutely no people skills at all.

I'd avoid like the plague, could have gone to a holiday park for less, got more of a service and premium accommodation.

Learnt my lesson the hard way, always do your research

The area was lovely and there is lots…

The area was lovely and there is lots to see in the surrounding villages and towns using the lodge as a base. The lodges are situated in a wood environment and are quite dark, the window in the main bedroom could not be opened due to the bushes outside. Although quite comfortable the lodges are in need of replacing, the carpets have stretched and there is water damage to vanity units, mold in shower enclosure and the worktops are in a very poor condition. This does not stop you using the lodge as intended but it does take the gloss off the time away, not really up to standard

Very disappointing and over priced

Very disappointing and over priced. We spent £550 for Easter weekend. Our lodge was aged, although not awful - mostly cleaned but some parts missed. But the deck and hot tub were not useable due to crows nests over the area, meaning there was constant noise from them and bird poo. The deck was also next to a large pond which was more like a swamp filled with algae and really smelly. Would not recommend.

Basic and smelly

This review is written by my carer. I am the primary carer for a disabled woman. I accompanied her to a "luxury" respite break at the Rosewood Stud Lodges.

I was immediately struck by the pungent & pervasive smell of damp & urine coming from the en-suite bathroom in the main bedroom. She could only stay in there for one night, and was forced to move to one of the smaller rooms because of the thick stench. The stench was being poorly masked by two heavy duty plug in and misting air fresheners, suggesting the Park were aware of the problem. Ammonia overload made her unwell throughout her stay. Both toilets emitted the ammonia stench.

Management initially denied there was a smell, which was plain bizarre. I had to an impromptu day bed for my employer on the decking outside so that she could have some comfort and clean air. We both had to sleep in the living room with doors and windows open.

Also, the mattresses in the small rooms were well worn and sunken, multiple plug sockets didn’t work, very few kitchen implements. No umbrella or recliners on the decking. THIS WAS NOT LUXURY/ or “Bouja” as advertised.

I reiterate again & again that "THIS WAS NOT LUXURY" because having travelled in & around Suffolk & the prevailing areas for years with my employer, staying in multiple lodges that were actually catering towards the luxury market, I can honestly say that Rosewood Stud Lodges was more akin to a bare bones Butlins chalet than the luxurious accommodation falsely advertised.

This was emphatically NOT luxury accommodation & did not provide the much needed respite from my employers mostly bed & housebound normal circumstances. Quite the opposite.
Staying at this lodge provided illness, discomfort and anger toward the management that refused to acknowledge our collective complaint.

This was a terrible and stressful experience for my disabled employer and friend and myself.

I also find the fact that in this era there are absolutely no means to review or otherwise leave comments for these lodges. No social media sites, no reviewing sites & no physical book to leave remarks. All of which we have had in every single lodge we have ever been to.
