On the 4/06/26

On the 4/06/26, i went and viewed a 2012 Porsche Cayenne at Neary's. I met with Derek, who was friendly and welcoming. I agreed to buy the car for €19950. Derek, admited there were some things wrong with the car and we made a list that he said they would rectify, Nct and deliver the car to me the on the 9/06/2026. There was also an after market head unit in the car and he said he would find out how it worked and let me know. Great! So, I put a deposit down and payed the rest by bank transfer the following day. Then, on the 8/06/26, a phone call from Derek, slight oil leak has been found and we're fixing it so wont be delivered for another few days. No problem, i thought. Then by the following weekend, I had heard nothing. So i messaged him. He rang me back and said rear crank oil seal is leaking, but will be sorted in a few days. And these excuses, went on and on. A one point, he even told me that the gearbox was out and sent to a specialist in Dublin as they weren't sure if that was the cause of the leak. I was going on holidays on the 27/06/26 for two weeks, so on the 26/06/26, i messaged Derek saying I thought it would be fair if the leak wasnt fixed by my return date - 11/07/26, i should get a refund. He agreed, but said the car was actually fixed. He said the owner Ryan Neary was going to drive it a few days to make sure it was ok and then it would be delivered. However, it wasnt actually delivered until the morning of the 11/07/26,
an hour or so before i came home. As soon as i turned it on, a warning light was on the dashboard for the battery and the powered boot wouldn't work. There was no instructions on how to work the aftermarket headunit. We had made a list, the day i put a deposit down, including fixing rust on the rear tailgate - this was done. There was a panel in the boot that was broken, there was a button on the centre console that was broken and the wheels needed refurbishment. Derek, undertook to do all these jobs, however, he did say that the wheel refurb may not be done due to budget. Ok they weren't that bad. On the 11/07/26, apart from the rust being sorted, nothing else had been done. The panel was lying broken in the boot, the button in the console was still broken and i realised, two other buttons had also been broken since i had viewed it. The wheels had way more marks and scrapes on them than before. It seems that even though i had paid for and owned this vehicle, it had been driven recklessly in the previous few weeks and the only person i knew of having had possession of it was Ryan Neary. I brought it to my own mechanic who diagnosed; a faulty 12V battery that needed replacement, a leak from one the intercoolers and a leak from the rear crank oil seal. The very same leak, that prevented me from getting the vehicle for 6 weeks after i had bought it. The same leak that i was told i would be refunded if it hadn't been sorted by the 11/07/26. I contacted them (spoke to Keith, the head mechanic who assured me they would sort the leaks and battery) and they told me to drop it up to them in Gorey. Apparently, them collecting their problem wasn't going to happen. I live in Cork City. I took a day off work and drove up. The car was leaking so much oil, that a warning came on, on the way up saing low oil level. They gave me a replacement car, initially wanting to give me a 2 door Kia commercial vehicle. I explained i needed a car with isofix for my two kids, so i got a trade in Nissan. This was the 7/08/26. On arrival, i met with Anto. Apparently Keith was too busy to be there. He knew nothing about an issue with either the battery or the tailgate not working. I explained that I had a trip booked to the UK for the 18/08/26 by ferry and that i needed the car back by then. No problem, i was assured. The 18/06/26 came and went. Ferry booking and payment gone. Car still not sorted and nothing heard. I had enough and on the 19/08/26, I contacted Derek, quoting the message saying he would refund me if the rear crank oil seal leak hadnt been fixed by the 11/07/26. They responded saying 'oh no, it was actually a completly different leak.' I didn't believe them. Either way, they dropped off the car to me after having it for 6 weeks, with 2 oil leaks and a battery requiring replacement. They have gone back on their word, so i have no other choice but to take legal action. Don't make the same mistake as me. Read the other reviews, they are based on fact. This garage cannot be trusted!

Great Customer Service

I bought a lovely Mercedes Benz from Derek. I found Derek to be honest, trustworthy, knowledgeable and most obliging in helping us choose our car. We are delighted with our choice and it has been an all round pleasant experience.

I wouldn’t rate Neary’s at all

I wouldn’t rate Neary’s at all. Sold me a jeep that wasn’t road worthy at all. I went to solicitors who said I had a case, but that I would be throwing good money after bad as there are several cases won already against them about cars being not road worthy and aren’t paying out. Stay away.

I recently had a really great…

I recently had a really great experience with R Neary Motors and wanted to share how impressed I was with the service.

Anto did a brilliant job from start to finish. My car had a major engine issue, and even though it was nearly out of warranty, he went above and beyond to get everything sorted for me.

Not only was the main problem fixed, but the car also received a full service and all the other bits that needed attention. The whole process was handled professionally and efficiently, which made a stressful situation much easier.

I’m genuinely very happy with the outcome and really appreciate the effort Anto put in. I would definitely recommend R Neary Motors to anyone looking for reliable and honest service.

Sold a dud Mercedes

Sold a Mercedes that had been modified, dpf removed, got an engineers reports and the car had been damaged and repaired a couple of times. Engineer deemed car not road worthy. Looked to get refund from company and given runaround for the last year. Currently taking court case against them. Avoid at all costs.

AVOID!!!!

AVOID!!!!
While I'm one of the luckier ones who didn't go through with a purchase of a car, I see from Google revies of this company that I'm only out of picket of €500. I was dealing with "Jon", and put a reserve of €500 on a car while I checked insurance, that was my first mistake. I however did do it out of faith. The car was a sport model BMW and insurance was a bit pricey, so I decided not to go with that car. I explained to Jon I was about to go to the states that I would look at cars again when I returned and asked about my deposit. He assured me there was no issue getting it back, but I would get it by cheque, ( I paid through revolut). Fast forward 2 weeks later still no cheque. I contacted him from the states, a had also asked him 3 times to email me terms and conditions policy on reserve and deposits, to which I didn't receive either. Now 3 weeks on, my dad rang R nearly himself 2 days ago to assured him he would sort it with his "book keeper" which they didn't need to accept the money. No contact since not answering message or email. I'm sure they are facing more than myself with legal action. My advice don't put ur trust in these guys.
