10/10 would definitely use again

I used the “sell your gear” on their website, you get a choice to either part exchange or cash. I opted for a part exchange, the process was really quick and easy.

They were really quick to reply and very patient with any of my enquiries I had, as I had seen a couple of basses I liked the look of. I eventually chose one that was under their quoted PX and they sent me cash through bank transfer the same day they received my item.

I bought a second hand Hiscox EF case…

I bought a second hand Hiscox EF case from RichTone. It’s an older one because the interior is red rather than the current grey colour. The price was very sensible, it was clean and unmarked. Also delivered from Sheffield to East Sussex the next day. I like the red interior anyway ! Excellent service.

Word of advice

Word of advice. If you buy a vintage / old / been around the block a few times guitar, make sure you ask them to check the electrics haven't been modified and other internal hardware is there before parting with your £££. May save yourself £50 (with good insurance) return cost and the associated stress of sending something high value back.

I'm verry disappointed of their system…

I'm verry disappointed of their system of selling.
It's been three weeks since I ordered a product from their website. I made a big mistake.
If I had just ordered it from Amazon it would have arrived in three days.
I will avoid this store from now on.

Dear Gabriel Goga
Many Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review.
I can see that you ordered a Fender HiMass 4-String Bass Bridge Assembly from us on the 22nd October as a pre order. We emailed you on the 24th October that it would be dispatched to you wk commencing 11th November and we dispatched this to you on the 12th November.
I am not sure as to why you felt our service to have been "unreasonable with rude conduct" as your review suggests and we were clear and transparent about the delivery times - you could have cancelled at anytime as well. Your disappointment was not in evidence during our email correspondence but if we have missed something here then we do apologise again.
Kind Regards

Online purchase from Richtone.

I bought a second hand Gibson Les Paul from Richtone using their online shop. Good price and shipping cost (next day delivery) reasonable. Took me ages to unpack it as it was so well packaged. Guitar is in immaculate condition - looks brand new and sounds great. Very satisfied with the quality of the service. Well done Richtone.

I have purchased a number of guitars…

I have purchased a number of guitars from Richtone Music recently and each example has been in virtually immaculate previously owned condition. The company’s communications are first class and their customer service is simply outstanding. Well done Richtone, a pleasure to deal with you.

I'm not sure worst service is possible.

I'm not sure worst service is possible.

I've Been back to the shop.
Ive called.
I've written.

My hope is that you won't give these money grabbers your business. A shop for those that love guitar this is not. Keen as mustard to take your money and passion but it seems obvious from so many reviews that if there's a problem you can kiss your money, and faith in thr guitar community adios.

A small claims is on its way

Dear Jan Day
Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review. As you have not been specific about a purchase its difficult to comment on this and we don't have your name as a customer on our records.
It would be great if you could get in touch with us so we could understand your review a little more and hopefully work out a solution for you. We have to date not received anything through Small Claims.

Taking the p***

Rich Tone recently launched a "we buy your guitar" service. I had a rare and expensive guitar in perfect condition, and sent them a detailed description and photos. I was given a quote of less than a third of its value. I understand the need to make a margin, but this was an insult. This whole "service" feels like a Cash Converters style exploitation racket. As a Rich Tone customer of many years, I won't be shopping there again.

Dear Anthony O'Hanlon
Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review. I am sorry to hear that you were not happy with our quote on your guitars that you offered to us. We have been buying guitars for many years and we do try to be as transparent as possible with our listings and any price we offer an item for is usually speculative and not necessarily what an item will eventually sell for. Our price estimates are always based on what items are likely to sell for. Everybody wants a deal and we usually have to offer a discount or take a further part exchanges so please don’t think we are taking advantage. The price we offer is always based on a suggested and reasonable sell price and then we pay around two thirds and on balance this is what it usually works out at. Not all items sell quickly and the prices come down to accommodate for this over time. Sadly sometimes we make a loss but that’s all part of the risk of buying and selling 2nd hand items.
In way of further explanation, the costs involved in selling 2nd hand items are considerable. For example we have to test, clean and set all the items up. We then have to picture them and get them listed on multiple systems and selling platforms. We have to pack and ship the items, usually free of charge and we have to offer a warranty and collection should the item break which is underwritten by ourselves. We also offer a lot of items on 3rd party sites such as ebay and the costs can be up to 12% of the sell price plus we have the VAT to pay on top and all the staff, store and administration costs in addition so our margins are a lot less than it may seem.
I hope this goes some way of explaining the process and I hope you don’t think badly of us
I am not sure as to why you felt our service to have been "unreasonable with rude conduct" as your review suggests but if we have missed something here then we do apologise again.

Rubbish company!

When ordering a guitar from this company, exercise extreme caution. I purchased a Gretsch guitar for over £500. I emailed them after I opened the package since one of the pick-ups appeared to be damaged and the other's screw was loose. They recommended that I get £20 in return and make a special effort to use more of my own funds to fix it when I didn't break it. They took it back to "fix" it after I turned down their offer, but when it came back, the repairs weren't done correctly. I wouldn't advise making a purchase from this business. Move elsewhere.

Dear TY
Many Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review. I can see from the notes on your order that you received a Gretsch guitar from us and the retaining screw and spring had unfastened itself from the pickup mount. This can happen in transit and we offered to talk how to sort this through with you on the phone , offered the costs to get a local luthier to sort or after further discussion to collect and sort it back at Rich Tone Music. You opted for a collection which we arranged, fastened the screw back up and send the guitar back to you. We have not heard back from you since.

Excellent level of service

I recently bought a second hand guitar from Rich Tone Music. When I called for an update on the order, the customer service advisor was very helpful, leaving his desk to check the item had left the warehouse. Rich Tone used DPD to send the item and I was kept up to date and able to track where the package was. On arrival, the guitar was very well packaged. There were no signs of damage and the instrument was as described. It had also been set up ready to play. I can't thank Rich Tone Music enough for their level of service and would definitely use again in the future.
