Waited 4 months for a refund

I’ve been trying since August to get a refund for our airport transfer. We cancelled well within the cancellation period. I’ve sent so many emails and each time I’m told that they’ll forward the request to the right department and to wait for 14 days. I’ve still not received my refund. They didn’t even reply for over a month. I’d had to cancel my holiday and claim off my travel insurance. They couldn’t include the transfer cost because there was no communication from Reykjavik sightseeing as proof of cancellation.

Bad experience all together

Bad experience all together. Guidance was poor. We did not get what we paid for and did not get any refund either. We didn’t get any answer to our complaints. Advertising was misleading. For example the promised new bus was an old one and so on. Avoid this company.

I booked the Golden Circle + Sky Lagoon…

Update: TourDesk took my complaint seriously and offered a partial refund and a commitment to ensuring no one else has the same experience.

Their professional customer service and follow up to look into the incident as much appreciated and what I would expect from a reputable company.

Incident:
I booked the Golden Circle + Sky Lagoon tour expecting a seamless, well-managed experience. What I got instead was disorganization, misinformation, and an hour-long wait at a terminal with zero explanation or options — after already being told by the guide it would be “just a few minutes.”

Nowhere in the booking materials did it mention that the two parts of the tour were disconnected or that we’d be stranded in the middle with nothing to do and nowhere to go. Had we been informed, we would have made other arrangements. Instead, we sat in a terminal for nearly an hour while the Sky Lagoon — just a 9-minute drive away — sat completely out of reach.

There were only five of us left on the bus, and just three headed to the Lagoon. It would have been easy to take us straight there or at least offer a nearby place to wait, but no consideration was given. Worse, customer service was dismissive and evasive when we raised this — offering hollow apologies and citing policies instead of taking responsibility.

Booked the golden circle and ice cave tour for just shy of £500 for 2 people

The ice cave was cancelled no explanation/advices at all. Only found out half way through. No automatic refund either. Why exactly.

The tour guide was a joke. Turned up with zero information about the first stop and in total darkness. She only mentioned what we'd seen AFTER we'd seen it. What guide does that? Also in an unprecedented move. We wasn't allowed to ask questions whatsoever. We had to wait until the bus stopped and we all got off. Only thing is, she disappeared every time!

Snowmobiling absolutely fine and no concerns.

Ice Cave just didn't happen. Only found out at the 3rd stop. Oh we didn't get to actually see the sights at the third stop. Only the carpark! Why God only knows.

So for the grand sum of £500 we saw one sight of the golden circle, no explanation from the guide (you weren't allowed to ask questions!) and a snowmobile.

Then we had to make our own way back despite having paid for transport back to the hotel!

The best joke is a total refund offered after chasing of £34! Whether I actually get the money is a different matter

I could have booked the tour without the ice cave had I have known it was cancelled and saved myself over £60

The ideal way to see Iceland’s most amazing sights!

The ideal way to see Iceland’s most amazing sights!

We were looking for a safe and comfortable way to visit Iceland’s South Coast and picked Reykjavik Sightseeing as our way to get there. This proved to be an excellent choice as the trip was tremendous fun, filled with fascinating facts and stunning sights, with the perfect amount of time spent at each of the key locations on the way. We joined the tour at Reykjavik Sightseeing’s terminal, while others in our group had been picked up from their hotels by our driver/guide, Bo. He was a very entertaining and knowledgeable guide, dropping in intriguing facts and telling us stories from Iceland’s folklore. Along the way, we used the free interactive tablet guide, which showed where we were and told us even more about what we were seeing. It was an ideal mix - we could choose when to listen and when to just enjoy the amazing views. The tour takes you over a mountain pass from Reykjavik and then along the coastal road to see two spectacular waterfalls, an incredible black sand beach and right up to the edge of a glacier too. There are well-timed rest stops on this ten-hour tour for refreshments, including lunch at the lovely little village of Vik. Most importantly, our guide Bo was brilliant fun - he really made our day with his stories and excellent advice, which made us feel safe, comfortable and relaxed. He knew where to stop to help us get the best photos and how long to stay at each spot. The weather was wonderful too, so we were really pleased with our day with Reykjavik Sightseeing! Highly recommended!
