They keep sending me spam emails despite me having asked them to stop.

I would like to thank Iwona for all the help she gives us in dealing with our properties,

I’ve rented through Rettie for several years now, and the service has always been excellent. The staff are very friendly, easy to speak to, and always willing to help. Any issues with the flat have been resolved quickly and without any hassle, which really makes a difference as a tenant.

My recent move to a new property was handled smoothly from start to finish, with clear communication throughout. It’s rare to find an agency that maintains such a consistently high standard over multiple tenancies.

Highly recommended.

I would not recommend working with Maria Ponte at Rettie in Edinburgh. Throughout our experience, her tone and manner were consistently condescending, and at times we felt as though we were being spoken to and treated like children rather than clients making a significant purchase.

We were also misled on several aspects of the property, which only became clear later in the process. This created unnecessary confusion and frustration that could have been avoided with clearer and more transparent communication from the outset.

Maria was very quick to insert herself into communications with our solicitor when it was not necessary. However, when issues arose that required clarification or assistance, she distanced herself from the situation and we received little to no response. This lack of accountability and inconsistent communication made an already stressful process far more difficult than it needed to be.

Overall, the experience was disappointing and unprofessional, and based on our experience, I would not recommend working with her.

Well, we’re do we begin with Rettie.

We met with Lisa at the outset to discuss the sale of our property having already acquired a Home Report privately and it all seemed really positive. Discussed expectations, Rettie giving viewings to assist, the best time to be on the market.

It initially all seemed very positive, right up until they asked us to sign documents and they failed to get my partners name right on multiple occasions, which when challenged on they said “we thought it was the same as their email address”. Well that lack of attention to detail to even confirm should have been a tipping point right away to avoid.

Over the following months they excluded my partner from email and phone communication, they ignored repeated requests to contact via email instead of phone call. They once scheduled a viewing without my permission which i then had to call to cancel. They said that their automated texting service could only be sent to one number, this was later proven to be wrong. Not a single viewer ever received the information on how to access the property either.

No follow up discussion on assisting with viewing either, despite initially being part of the whole reason we went with them.

Then there was the home report which needed to be renewed after 3 months, which is fine, but we are obviously relying on their expert advice to keep us in the right and let us know this. However, they didn’t do that, then said they had no idea how old the report was “it’s dated” and that at one point they simply “hadn’t seen the report”.

There was an excuse for everything and every continual lack of attention to detail or failure to follow through on communication.

Disastrous is how I would refer to it, they will get your property sold, but you would be better on your own than with them. Look for someone else, do not do this to yourself, you don’t need the stress of Rettie.

Our problem was quickly resolved by Rettie’s manager, who arranged for a contractor to fix the sudden water problem with our electric shower. The assistance was provided in a very friendly and professional manner.

Jessica Shek was always there when I needed her. She is polite, helpful and understanding. She is an asset to the Retties team.

After renting a property for over 10 years, Rettie told me my property was being sold, so my tenancy had to end. Obviously, a very disruptive, upsetting and expensive time followed from me.
A few months after I moved out, my old neighbours introduced me to the new tenant... The property wasn't sold. The story about the property being sold was a fabrication. They moved me out so they could increase the rent from £475 to £850 per month,
The new tenant confirmed that the property is still owned by the same person.

Could easily make a realistic claim against the company, but frankly happy to be away from their rude and deceptive staff, invasive inspections and low standard of contractors.
Repairs were consistently performed by people who wanted to lecture on about small boat people of fighting age, then leave a mess and a shoddy repair that would survive a week max.

Having rented with Rettie for almost 12 months we have had extremely impressive and personable service from Jessica. She responds promptly and efficiently to any requests or queries about the property.

I had a fantastic experience with Rettie from start to finish. Our portfolio manager, Fraser, was professional, friendly, and always quick to respond whenever I had questions during my tenancy. Any maintenance issues were handled efficiently, and communication was clear throughout. I would highly recommend Rettie to anyone looking to rent, reliable, supportive, and genuinely great to deal with. Thank you for making my tenancy such a positive experience!

We’ve rented a property through Rettie for the past two years, and the portfolio management team has consistently been responsive and supportive whenever appliances or other items needed repairing or replacing!

Have just let our property in Edinburgh for the first time.
We visited Edinburgh over Christmas and New Year and our assigned letting agent Kornelia, despite being on vacation, met us to explain what we needed to be aware of, and how the process would play out.

We have found Kornelia to be helpful in assiting us navigating the letting process and responsive to our request(s). We appreciate her straightforward, no-nonsense approach.

Retties have helped us with several rentals of residential properties in Edinburgh over recent years and we have found them to be very professional. Iwona Wolinska in particular is very responsive and helpful in every way. We would highly recommend their rental department.

Have the delightful experience of work with and being supported by Stephanie Harkness and Pipa, who have gone above and beyond in supporting me in my tenancy. I can honestly say that the attention to detail and collaboration sets the bar from a client experiences.

I had a tremendous experience with Rettie's Morningside, Edinburgh. Laura and James were outstanding selling our flat quickly and professionally. Their presentation of the property was outstanding.

After being a perfect tenant for three and a half years I got sent a 54 page document about “ faults “ on leaving our tenancy , things like a mark in the carpet where the bed was etc , I cleaned the house within an inch of my life but they went round it with a ruler and took photos, I had several slight marks and an excessive amount taken from my deposit to cover silly little finger prints. I had also cleaned the close within an inch of its life as Rettie ignored all emails regarding people dumping rubbish , I left the flat and the close in a better state than I found it , this is what puts people off renting ! Please choose another agent as they do not deal with issues correctly and choosing to ignore emails for months.

Playing the same trick to put "Pet Considered" to distinguish clients, but no property is really accepted Pet.

We’ve been looking for a home for a while and Rettie has been by far the most unpleasant, worst agency to deal with as buyers. We’re now avoiding any houses/flats by rettie, we’d rather take longer finding a place than deal with them.

Sarah Tanner, Laura Mathieson, James Ward and the team from Rettie Edinburgh South, provided us with exceptional service during the sale of our previous property and purchase of our new property with excellent communication, competence and professionalism throughout the whole process which made us feel at ease and in secure hands.
