Avoid this platform.

Refersion is overpriced, outdated, and completely inflexible. The software delivers almost nothing for what they charge, and once you’re in, they make it as difficult and expensive as possible to leave. Even long-term customers are treated like ATMs to be milked, not partners to be supported.

The platform underperforms, the contracts are predatory, and the company hides behind rigid policies instead of doing what’s fair or reasonable. There are countless better alternatives that don’t lock you into absurd fees for minimal value.

If you’re considering Refersion, don’t. Save yourself the headache.

Red Flag

I have just registered to become an affiliate for a product company who is using Refersion to handle the backend of the affiliate program. A giant red flag for me is that you (as a user) have no control over which Cookies you want to allow or disallow. You are either in or out. Period. That is a fundamental requirement in most countries now.

The frontend design leaves much to be…

The frontend design leaves much to be desired — it's outdated and not user-friendly. Important features such as detailed reports are missing. Additionally, we were overcharged. There are significantly better alternatives available.

Reply from Refersion

We regret that you’ve had a difficult experience working with the merchants on our platform. Refersion does provide a way to find and partner with merchants; however the obligation for a merchant to pay their promoters does remain with the merchant. Merchants that fail to meet the obligations to the affiliates they work with are removed from our platform.

We have created a feature called Unified Payments to ensure that payments are processed in a timely manner. We would recommend only partnering with merchants utilizing this service if you’ve been having issues receiving payments for your efforts. Please reach out if you’d like to learn more.

Highly regret signing a contract. Their network of affiliates is mainly coupon sites

Had to sign a one-year contract to use the software. Very expensive. Now after doing more research, found many other affiliate software apps that are much more affordable, and provide much better returns. Now still having to pay over $300 per month to finish out the contract. Company has no exit policy. You would think that after paying the company about $3000 to use their software, without it doing what it should do, that they would be able to end the contract early. Be very conscious before signing up with Refersion! Customer service is poor, and the tool is not nearly as effective as they make it seem like it is. Most affiliates that sign up are all coupon sites. They have very few reputable affiliates within their network

Affiliates: They will do nothing if a merchant refuses to pay you

3 days later, update: After I responded to the email I quoted below, another Refersion rep got in touch with me and CC'd the merchant. He has consistently kept me updated since then and made efforts to contact them on my behalf, but the merchant has simply been silent. I appreciate their efforts, updates, and the fact that they are now taking action. I do, however, feel there should be some failsafe so merchants can't simply choose to ignore their affiliates and Refersion. A card on file, a held deposit, something. For now, we'll see what happens, but I am happy to announce that Refersion has stepped up.

----

I signed up as an affiliate for a company that uses Refersion. Everything was fine until it was time to pay me. I triple checked the merchant's terms of service, and I am above the payout threshold and past the payout dates for the month. I contacted the merchant directly to ask why I have not been paid and they have not responded, so I turned to Refersion for assistance.

Copied and pasted directly from their email response, this is what a Refersion rep had to say: "Unfortunately, Refersion is not able to facilitate or action owed payments. Payments, terms, and payment schedules are dictated by each merchant individually, and the settlement of funds will need to be handled between merchants and the partnering affiliate directly." So a merchant can just decide to not pay you for your work and promotion, and Refersion finds that acceptable and offers no support. They didn't even offer to get into contact with the merchant on my behalf.

Refersion, you are only as trustworthy as the companies you choose to work with. I understand you cannot force payment, but to sit by and do nothing--no notices, no repercussions for a merchant's shady business practices--is unethical. This is supposed to be a three-way partnership between Refersion, merchant, and affiliates. How is letting the affiliates get shafted an acceptable business practice?

Wouldn't recommend

They ask for my credit card information for the free trial. I decided it wasn't for me and asked for my subscription to be canceled after noticing there was no such an option under my account settings, despite sending multiple emails to the support email I never got a confirmation from them. Waiting to see if they charge my credit card after the trial is over. I would be wary of doing business with this company.
