My daughter gifted me a voucher to obtain a meal for two at The Slug and lettuce, Newcastle. When I booked the meal via Red Letter website I was charged 24 pounds which I assumed would come off the meal. It did NOT! apparently it was some sort of invented upgrade - neither Slug or Red letter owned it - disgraceful!! AVOID!!

I purchased a voucher for paddle boarding on Loch Lomond and was unable to book this online as your system would not allow me to check availability or call to book. I used your chat facility and Tony investigated this and then gave me a link direct to the company which explained I had to email the voucher details to them and book direct. This was not explained anywhere on your website. I have now booked for my son to go next week so I’m unable to comment on the actual experience

Couldn't have been easier to book using voucher. Very straightforward. Experience was great.

I feel that I booked this experience and when I phoned the company there was an added expense which after doing the car experience was a con . You didn’t need the insurance as there was an instructor with you and I paid extra for an instructor to take my husband round to get to know the track which was actually 2 of his laps

The agent was great but accessing availability dates has now twice proved impossible

We did not have a good time because our room was not cleaned and towels not replaced and tea and coffee was not replaced either!!
Also when we tried to call a member of staff there was no response. Plus the mattress was very uncomfortable . So I am afraid we have nothing positive to say.

The slug and lettuce wasn’t for us , it was soooo loud couldn’t hear one another talk , the food was cold , I don’t know if all slug and lettuce are all the same but we are a couple in retirement age , and wasn’t for us .

The 6-course tasting menu is fairly well designed - most courses do not need last-minute cooking for example. The portions are very small and the sixth course is coffee, so in reality not a lot of food. The big problem is with the main course: apart from the "house cut" (a 7-ounce sirloin steak) all other cuts have an extra charge. There are no accompaniments, so all those are extra too. And even the coffee course - anything other than a basic espresso is charged extra. I find this somewhat misleading, and very disappointing. The food was OK but to be honest, not that special: our third course was a "special of the day", a courgette and ricotta salad. Thinly sliced courgettes with hardly any dressing and a teaspoon of ricotta, and a few pine nuts. This could have been excellent: seasonal and tasty. Again, very disappointing. Makes people think the Brits still can't do food. Oh, and the non-refundable £10 per person deposit for the privilege of booking on Fridays and Saturdays. By all means take a credit card number in case of no-shows, but frankly this is really poor practice.
