Exceptional Service from Start to Finish – Thank You, Scott Walker!

I recently had an exceptional experience with Read Hyundai, and I genuinely feel it deserves recognition, particularly due to the outstanding service provided by Scott Walker.

From the very first interaction, Scott made the entire process feel welcoming and straightforward. Choosing a car can often feel overwhelming, but his friendliness, patience, and highly knowledgeable approach immediately put me at ease. He took the time to really understand what I was looking for, carefully guiding me through the available options without ever making me feel rushed or pressured into a decision.

What truly set Scott apart was his honesty and authenticity. In an environment where sales pressure can sometimes overshadow the customer experience, Scott was refreshingly transparent and sincere. He provided clear, unbiased advice and was upfront about every aspect of the purchase, which gave me complete confidence and trust throughout the process.

Would never use these again

Would never use these again. Extortionate prices for labour. No communication, they kept the car for nearly a week with no updates (me having to call them daily for updates), felt I was being both fobbed off and ripped off. Parts delivery took 4 days and then nothing to tell me when the car was ready. Over priced and horrendous customer service

Terrible will never get back to you and…

Terrible will never get back to you and do not know how to fix a car from a fault at purchase will go elsewere. Doesnt really deserve even 1 star and im not one to complain pointless ringing them they always say no one available they will get back to you bla bla never happens endless amount times wanting a new car soon as this one never got fixed but will shop elsewere for that! *grimsby lucky i didnt go to a small claims

Avoid at all costs

I have been dealing with Read Motor Group for almost 6 months now whilst they try and fix a car that is less than 4 years old. The car has been with Matt Taylor at the branch in Derby for 6 months, and he/his team have been completely unable to fix it. The branch also does not proactively try and fix it or provide me with any updates - they only act when chased constantly (literally you have to chase them daily for tiny updates that tell you they still haven't managed to fix it). If you call them, the line just ring out. They've offered no other option than to just wait indefinitely which is completely unacceptable. I'll never deal with this company again and I suggest everyone else stays well clear (especially the Derby Branch)

We were very disappointed with our…

We were very disappointed with our experience at reception. While our car was being serviced, the receptionist appeared rude and visibly frustrated, huffing and puffing in front of us while trying to arrange a replacement vehicle. When we returned to pay, she was not even on site, and we waited 15–20 minutes while someone from the Skoda side came to assist but was unable to locate her or advise us on how to proceed. Eventually, she came running through the front doors to reach us, out of breath, which felt unprofessional and disorganized. Throughout the entire experience, we felt like we were a chore rather than valued customers. Due to this level of service, we will not be returning to this branch and cannot recommend it to others.”

If you want a new Hyundai I’d probably look elsewhere being as they can’t tax them in a week and counting….

Well it’s been a week now and still waiting to collect our car because “they can’t tax it” because of a supposed IT glitch. Was recommended Read by a neighbour but even they’re shocked that a company can’t register a new car in a week so have said they’ll skip them in future and go elsewhere. They could have posted the V55/4 to DVLA and it would have been sorted by now instead of this joke of waiting around. I get it isn’t the staff at the dealerships fault and they’ve tried their best to help fix the issue and are very apologetic but if you’re wanting a new Hyundai I’d probably look elsewhere unless you want it sat at the dealership for who knows how long!

UPDATE: Well the new story is that they have been told they can’t release any more cars in January despite ours being ready and going to collect it at the agreed time on the 19th and getting the call to say there was an issue taxing the car on our way there. Obviously isn’t the staff fault who like I’ve said have done what they can but as usual with business there’s clearly something else going on so I’d probably consider another dealer until they can figure out how to fulfil a customers order…

Just an awful place for anything other…

Just an awful place for anything other than selling you a car. The aftercare at this place (Jeep) is awful. The Motability car has broken 4 times now and we are told the car cannot be seen for another 2 weeks at the earliest. I ring to speak to someone on Wednesday and get told they will call me back and they don’t. Call back again on Thursday and wait 10 minutes and no answer. Finally get a call back on Friday after ringing again and then to be told they will speak to the service manager and then they will call me back and no call back. Ring again today to speak to the service department and then to be told no one has spoken to them and they can’t take the car for another two weeks. Just disgusted in the place. Communication failures and duty of care failures. A disabled person now stranded on the side of the road due to the failings of this place. Honestly avoid at all costs!

Totally stress free and not pressured or pushed to buy.

Genuine company no pressure when looking around, just friendly staff there to answer my questions without being pushy. When I made my decision to go ahead after a couple of days reflecting on what I had seen Josh Webb and Callum Ormston made me feel very comfortable and just helped make the purchase so straight forward and easy. I dropped my car off on 05/12 for a…

I dropped my car off on 05/12 for a routine MOT and was told I’d have it back the same day. It’s now 16/12, and I’m still without my car. I received a call on Saturday and a voicemail advising it would be ready on Monday and that I’d get a call then. I’ve just called again, spoken to someone, and they couldn’t get hold of the service department. I’m really disappointed with the level of service I’ve received — not once have I been given an update without having to call myself for a small piece of information.

Apalling customer service

Our MG HS hybrid plus, decided by itself to change its language from English to Chineseof its own accord!!!
It took me abouit 4 hours to find a way to change the language back to English. However as part of this software glitch, the cruise control has stopped working. I have tried to resolve this myself, but was not able to. I drove the 25 miles from my house to Read in Grimsby, and was informed by the service receptionist that the earliest they could provide a courtesy car, and fix my 6 months old car was the 17th December, and they would charge me £20.00 for the privelage. We have bought two new vehicles from this dealership this year, and am now begining to regret it.Your sales guys are very helpful, but you are massively let down by really apalling customer after care in your service department.
If I could have left a negative stars review I would have.

Great experience when buying a car…..

We recently purchased a new MG car from Read Motor Group in Humberston, Grimsby and the whole experience was superb. A big shout out to Josh who handled everything about the sale from the start. He was knowledgeable on all questions asked, professional, courteous with excellent customer service skills. Throughout he has made us feel valued and based on this purchase experience I would certainly recommend this dealership to others. The friendly atmosphere and willingness of the team to help left a really good impression on us both. I also appreciate that there were many other people who helped towards ensuring our vehicle was ready and the agreed time / date etc and would like to thank everyone involved.

Firstly the good bits

Firstly the good bits, the after sales manager is exceptional and the service reception team are also very good.
The bad! The workshop have no clue about customer service and just don’t care! I took my car for MOT yesterday, I arrived before they opened at 08.00am as I was asked to do. When I booked in I asked if I could collect my car at 01.00pm and was told it was on the job sheet but someone would ring before that. At 12.45pm I started phoning and after 4 attempts over 20mins the call was picked up. The lady that answered had to go and find out, when she came back I was told it was not ready so I explained it should have been ready by 01.00pm, I said I had a meeting I needed to get to so please could it be ready for 02.00pm to collect. I arrived to collect it at 02.05pm and was told it was not ready! At this point the after sales manager stepped in and went down to the workshop to sort it out and fifteen minutes later my car was done. The workshop don’t seem to have any comprehension of customer service, if they had just communicated to me before 01.00pm I could have made other arrangements. And to cap it all I went in the boot this morning and found the plastic box I keep some work bits and a few spanner’s as well as glass cleaner etc had been tipped out al over the boot floor! NOT IMPRESSED!
They get the three stars because of the after sales manager the workshop would get -3. Would I go back? Probably not.

Read MG of Grimsby. First Class Service.

On the 28th of August 2025 I took my MG5 for an MOT and Service to the Grimsby Dealership and was delighted by the Customer Service given by Charlie.
He was extremely adept and helpful with a wonderful attitude. He is, quite unequivocally, an important asset to your company, as my experience was not only
easy, but very pleasant, which has indeed encouraged me to happily continue to deal with Read MG . Thankyou Eli Wolfe a very satisfied customer.
