Trans Africa an adventure to be experienced …
Trans Africa was my second Rat Race adventure. This was fantastic. The organisation was excellent, the accommodation was next level as was the food, brilliant. 21 days riding, 3200km plus, amazing group, the support crew were immense. If you want tough, relentless adventure with great people, sign up now.
Trans Africa 2026
Trans Africa: 3,200km of pure epic madness, backed by a world-class crew
This event is nothing short of extraordinary. Cycling 3,200km across Southern Africa—from the barren, silent deserts of Namibia, through Botswana and Eswatini, to the beautifully challenging, rolling hills of South Africa—is one of the toughest and most humbling thing I’ve ever done.
Rat Race has designed a genuinely epic route that tests you to your absolute limits. You will face everything from deep sand that feels like treacle and relentless "jackhammer" corrugations to massive 200km+ days and 12.5-hour stints that start and finish in the pitch black.
But what truly makes this event a masterpiece is the unbelievable support crew. The entire team goes above and beyond in every humanly possible way. Whether they are managing complex border crossings, keeping our bodies fit & healthy, handling logistics, keeping us fueled, or fixing mechanical issues in the middle of nowhere, they work tirelessly to keep everyone safe and moving forward. They handle the chaos of a multi-country expedition with total professionalism and constant positivity.
Because of their incredible organization, we got to experience bucket-list moments that words can't quite do justice. The wildlife, scenery, landscapes, local communities and fellow riders combine to form a truly unique and defining experience.
If you are looking for a true, continent-crossing endurance challenge that will empty your tank but leave you with memories for a lifetime, Rat Race Trans Africa is unmatched.

Panama Coast to Coast 2026 – A truly defining experience
Having now completed Panama Coast to Coast, I can honestly say this is one of the nicest - and rewarding - experiences I have ever taken on. It definitely lives up to its reputation as the toughest event in the Rat Race portfolio, but hey, if it was easy...
From the outset, the scale of the challenge is clear: long days in relentless heat and humidity, in the jungle carrying a heavy pack, navigating steep climbs, deep mud, river crossings, and dense, untamed jungle. It pushes you physically, but just as much mentally. This is not about comfort - it is about endurance, resilience, and learning to keep moving forward when everything tells you to stop.
What makes it achievable is the exceptional organisation and support. The Rat Race crew, medics, and local guides are outstanding. Their experience, and ability to manage such a complex environment safely give you the confidence to keep going, even in the toughest moments. Small details throughout the journey show the care behind the event.
Crossing from ocean to ocean - running, hiking, packrafting - is something truly special. It is not just about completing a challenge; it is about stepping outside your comfort zone and discovering what you are capable of.
This is not an event to take lightly, but if you are prepared to train hard, be comfortable with the uncomfortable, and commit to the journey, it will stay with you for life I am sure. An unforgettable adventure, and without doubt one of the most unique experiences I have ever had.
Rapa Nui
An amazing experience. The week was so well organised by the whole Rat Race team, who all went above and beyond. The scenery, with the Moais, and history of the island are awesome - I’d love to return. I have done a number of Rat Race events before, and highly recommend the company.
The ultimate cheat code for the Bahamas
I could not recommend the Exuma Traverse more. What an absolute blast of a trip. I had done the Mongol 100 before and didnt think Exuma could equal it. But it did, with bells and catamarans on. I wouldnt consider myself an elite athlete, probably more of a parkrun and a few squats at the gym kind of girl and there were always options and I achieved far more than I thought I would. This trip is like a cheat code for the Bahamas. To get all of that experience and go to those places without Ratrace you'd need to be a billionaire on a super yacht. Abbi, Dovey, Ollie and the rest of the AMAZING support crew (Ruth...our chef ♥️) were so experienced and kept us alive but challenged, and made it so much fun. An experience I will never, ever forget.
Exuma Traverse 2026
Exuma Traverse, my 2nd multi-day Rat Race event and 4th overall. A fantastic week in the Bahamas made possible by the amazing team led by Abbi, with support from the Kayak guides Dovey and Ollie along with the catamaran crew of Will, Simon and Ruth. Topped off by a brilliant group of fellow paddlers. Thoroughly recommend Rat Race events!

Bloody amazing and worth every penny.
Fantastic crew, setup, logistics etc from team lead Abbi, Olly, Dovey, Will, Ruth and Simon.
Experientally, this was me of the best times of my life. Gruelling 220km sea kayak route, with wild camping, wildlife-a-plenty and an amazing group of new friends made. Can’t wait for next RatRace event!
Rapa Nui RatRace
My experience in Rapa Nui was genuinely unforgettable. From start to finish. The team were fantastic, Hannah was absolutely incredible — so friendly, organised and always making sure i was fueled up !!
James also did a fantastic job leading the group. Even when small issues came up, they sorted them quickly and kept everything stress-free. Doctor Dan was brilliant.
A huge mention to Leo as well, who constantly went above and beyond capturing amazing moments for everyone throughout the trip. The local guides were equally brilliant — so passionate and knowledgeable about their island, which made every experience even more meaningful.
This was my first RatRace abroad adventure and it definitely won’t be my last. The memories, friendships and experiences made on this trip are something I’ll never forget. Thank you all for such an amazing time.
RatRace Easter Island
Words cannot describe the experience we had in Rapa Nui under the leadership of James with his team. James, Hannah and Daniel were friendly and knowledgable, dealt with any minor issues that did crop up as efficiently as they could. Leo was going above and beyond to capture great shots of us. The local guides were so enthusiastic and passionate about their island. This is my first RR adventure and I can’t wait to book the next. Friendships and fun that will never be forgotten. Thank you 🤩

Croatia multi sport week 1
Croatia multi sport week 1. Had a great experience. Kate and the crew were well organized and made quality adjustments around poor conditions due to weather. The courses took us through amazing scenery. Beautiful country.

Just finished Rat Race Croatia Multisport and it was amazing. The scenery is stunning. The course is challenging but doable, and the support from the amazing Rat Race Staff is fantastic.
Service is pretty poor compared to…
Service is pretty poor compared to equivalent adventure companies. Overpriced, especially for add ons and extras, poor catering, feelings of disorganisation and just not a great service when looking at other options in this market. Not to mention the photography package paid for at quite a high cost has taken nearly 2 months to deliver any photos after the event...

Rat Race West Papua test pilot
I recently returned from the West Papua kayaking test pilot and if you enjoy the sea, this expedition is for you. The region of Raja Ampat is true paradise, with the best preserved marine life in the world. A typical day here would involve c.20km paddling through mangroves, through caves and into secret lagoons, around jungle clad islands and past small communities. After finding somewhere to sleep (mostly pristine beaches, some local homestays) we would snorkel, eat and relax in our hammocks. We had a very experienced sea kayaker leading us with local guide support. As long as you're prepared for some long crossings, the occassional storm and being permanently damp, salty and sandy then I highly recommend this expedition in eastern Indonesia. Another Rat Race gem, which balances some challenging kayaking with time to relish the environment.
Panama Coast To Coast
Just returned from what is billed as the hardest event in the Rat Race calendar.. The feelings of elation and disbelief are nothing compared to the pride at having completed this event. I have done several international events with Rat Race but this one truly is exceptional. Rat Race provided loads of useful information on kit and the adventure itself to make me feel prepared for this event (the jungle soon proved I could have prepared more LOL). The crew were amazing (as always), not only did they have to trek the jungle with us, they had to carry additional kit and also ensured we were safe and on route. I am forever grateful to them all for the support and encouragement received throughout. If you are considering this event, don't procrastinate BOOK IT. You wont regret it, the jungle is one of the most beautiful places I have been and basically untamed by man.
Panama Coast to Coast 2026 - An incredible journey!
Rat Race never fails to deliver — which is why I’ve taken part in so many of their events over the years. I’ve just completed Panama Coast to Coast for the second time, and this one was extra special doing it alongside my son. What an incredible journey. Definitely not for the faint-hearted — mountains, dense jungle, river crossings, thick mud, relentless humidity, extreme heat, and plenty of jungle critters thrown in for good measure. Add in carrying a heavy pack and being self-sufficient for much of the trip, and it’s easy to see why it’s considered their toughest event. But with the support and guidance of the Rat Race crew, medics, and local guides, what feels impossible somehow becomes achievable. This isn’t an event to take on lightly — some don’t finish. But if you can embrace the jungle and get comfortable being uncomfortable, you’ll experience an adventure you’ll never forget for the rest of your life!
An experience that earns every one of its five stars
Panama Coast to Coast was everything it promised and then some. Ocean to ocean through the jungle — running, hiking, packrafting — and Rat Race delivered it with the kind of organisation that makes genuinely difficult things possible. The logistics were seamless across two weeks in some of the most demanding terrain I have ever covered. Abbi, Rick, James and Hannah and the team had everything under control at every checkpoint. Abbi's handwritten card to each participant at the finish was a small detail that said a lot. The local guides were essential — clearing paths, fetching water, keeping the group moving. 10 of the 12 who entered the jungle completed it. That completion rate on an event this difficult is a result of thoughtful organisation and real on-the-ground support. The finish — crossing the bridge after the final jungle section — was genuinely emotional. If you are considering it, go in with realistic expectations. This is not comfortable. It is hard, sustained, and relentless. But Rat Race puts you in the right hands to get through it.
