RaceChip Chiptuning Reviews 

It has been 3 days since I ordered my Gts for my Audi A3. They took the money and nothing has came from it. No shipping notice, no tracking number. I've attempted multiple times to get in contact with them and heard NOTHING back.

I don t usually write reviews on anything i buy (too lazy),but i am doing this one because i was so happy with my XLR Throttle for my 2009 Clio 1.2/75 hp.
To be honest i didn't expect much for 189 £,but now it feels like a completely different car,acceleration it s fantastic in R+ mode,quick and easy 2 min. plug&play installation,great product.

Racechip GTS installed on a Skoda Kodiaq 2.0TSI 'CZPA' engine.
From order to delivery the process was slick and fast given the package was shipped halfway round the world. Customer services were responsive when I requested more pictures of the sensor placement and the installation instructions supplied in the box were very clear.
The install was trickier than expected, largely due to the boost pressure sensor being really only accessible from under the car and the Kodiaq undertray (unlike a Golf or Audi A3) is secured on by many more bolts aswell as screws. I was only able to do this because I had the car up on ramps.
Apart from access to the boost pressure sensor, the actual installation of the harness and set-up of the Racechip unit was fantastically simple.
Must admit to being initially disappointed by the performance gain, even on Race7. I would best describe it as 'mild'.
HOWEVER, I soon realised that this was likely due to the frankly awful stock throttle pedal calibration of the Kodiaq - inconsistent with a dead spot for the first ~20% of pedal travel. Installed a cheap throttle pedal controller which has dramatically improved the responsiveness of the car and you can now fully exploit the power gains from the Racechip GTS to the extent that I have now had to wind the Racechip back to Sport6.
My advice to anyone considering a Racechip GTS for a 2.0TSI 'CZPA' engine in a Kodiaq or Tiguan is do it...BUT budget for the Racechip XLR too.

Warning!!! Do not buy from them. I placed an order on the 09.04.2020 and cancelled next day as soon as I read the fitting instructions provided on the email. It only increases the fuel rail pressure, doesn't tune anything. I have refused delivery as instructed and today 20.06.2020 I am still trying to get a refund from paypal or my bank as they have no intention and doesn't answer my email. Do not buy anything from them, you have been warned.

Reply to your post dated 24.06.20. Really??? Who's in contact with me? My phone doesn't ring, the email is empty. I called you numerous times and you tried to bully me with your delivery again, I had to get my bank involved. 3 months soon, still no refund... I would give you 0 stars if I could. To increase performance you need to adjust turbo waste gate values then the fuel. I don't want a flooded, washed cylinder, unburnt excess fuel, smelly car... just because it's from Germany doesn't mean it's not Made in China.

PS. They have asked trustpilot for details of the order as they don't have them so they can remove my pure truth review. Don't worry I dealt with this sort of technique before.

UNBELIEVABLE!!! Another bully attempt to deliver today 24.06.20. When do you think I will get a refund from this scammers? Place your bets please and ruuuun. :)

Last update: I received a refund 10.07.20... 3 months later. The Covid-19 it's no excuse as they tried to deliver 3 times instead of requesting the item back as soon as I cancel the order. Up to you...

Just excellent, there are all kinds of opinions around the web. But most of the negative ones are of car programmers. So I gave it a chance and I couldn't be happier. It comes setted with map 3, and I couldn't notice any difference, changed to 4 and there it was! I tried 5, and it was faster, but with some jumps so I went back to 4 to have a more continuous response.

Absolutely avoid this product!! I'd like to address a few issues with this product which have also been highlighted by others. I Bought the GTS model, upon arrival it came with generic instructions, whilst I appreciate those who are absolute car enthusiast may know where to find the turbo pressure sensor and Map sensor, for the average person just wanting to do a little extra to there car this isnt as straight forward. You have to email them to obtain instructions specifically for your vehicle and from reading their FAQ this is clearly a problem that many consumers have had and never actually been addressed. When you're paying £300 + for a product I'd expect some instructions. After joining other Facebook forums I managed to obtain instructions from other sources as racechip took so long to reply I managed to get it fitted. Upon initially driving the car you can notice the difference almost immediately, clear power and torque increase and loved it. All to good to be true after about a week I began to notice my rev counter appeared to be slipping whilst the chip was on and happened regardless of what mode it was in (race, sport, eco). Approximately 1 week after this my car began judder and was hesitant when putting my foot down and again revs kept slipping. I made contact with racechip and they advised that they would send a new update to my chip, this process was quick to install but the problems I've mentioned above became even more apparent.

This Monday I decided I want to nip to shop and get some stuff, not long after I left the house I noticed the issues again and began to smell oil coming through my air vents and smoke from the engine bay. When I stopped and lifted the bonnet it looked like there had been and explosion of oil, immediately began to think I blew a head gasket or done some damage to the engine. Later took it into the garage and it turned out to just be a cylinder head cap and seal that had come off and shot oil all over the side of the engine. I didn't initially think it was anything to do with the racechip and but it down to just wear and tear of the engine and my luck really. Managed to get this replaced and decided to turn off the chip for a while because of the hot weather and possibly causing any more damage to the engine.

Since doing that the car ran really smooth again and had absolutely know issues up until I decided to turn the chip back on today and put it into eco mode. I took about a 10 min drive to my local asda and on the way back began to notice similar issues that I mentioned at the start again, about 500m from my house loss power again and smell of oil began to fill the air vents again. Due to what previously happened I decided to check the same area where the original repairs were made and immediately noticed the 2nd cylinder head cap and seal had come off and shot oil all over the engine again.

Tomorrow I intend on completely removing the chip from my car and returning it back to how it was, I can't obviously say that the issues I've had have all been down to the chip but this is the only variable I have changed on the car and only noticed them whilst the chip is active. It appears that there is just too much pressure and stress being put on the engine and Im gonna try and prevent anything further happening to my car.

I wish I had listened to the other reviews people had said about tuning chips and in particularly racechip but I gave them the benefit of the doubt and became a foolish consumer of the product. This is my warning to all those out there who want to make changes to your car, do not buy this product, get your car remapped professionally if you intend to do anything.

From reading other recent reviews I have seen that people just end up getting into a back and forth war with racechip about the faults with this product and there reluctance to help. With that I am just going to learn my lesson, cut my losses and never purchase another tuning chip.

BE CAREFUL Y’ALL !! This is a pure defect racebox, it works for 1 or 2 months then your engine starts having problems such as the glowplugs blinking and have a big loss of power, it ruins your camshaft sensor and technically your engine, I spoke to them and they sent me a new version 2 times, when I ask for a refund they convinced me to try a new version and if it wouldn’t work they would refund me, guess what ? The problem keeps happening and they DO NOT want to refund me !! That is the reason why they guarantee their default products 14days only. (I have all proof of emails regarding my case, ask me and I’ll send you everything on messenger) STAY AWAY from that scamming company

I fitted a Racechip RS to my T5.1 today straight out the box, followed instructions 20 minutes later all good. Performance has far exceeded my expectations and it is running like a dream. Great product and worth every penny.

Great performance and quality! I installed the RS unit, Harness, and chip in less than 20 minutes and mounted it carefully next to my normal ECU, the only minor set back that occurred was figuring out where and what the Bluetooth password was, (which is the last 6 digits of the serial number on the unit) but after that the system booted up properly and it began working quite quickly, taking full effect in about 1.5 - 2 hours. I started out using it on level 3 of [Sport Mode] which by itself made made a huge difference in low end torque and boost, along with a increase in rev range, Later that evening my wife wanted to feel it in “Race Mode” which I agreed to, and switched over the preset, and Oh. My. God. Did it kick my car into high gear, I drive a pretty Quick and well modified performance car as it is, but this was unlike anything I’ve experienced as far as the nature of the car, the acceleration: Brutal. The rev- Range: High, The torque: Head rest smacking. What more is there to say??

Final thoughts: I went into this extremely skeptical, I had seen a lot of conflicting reviews and misinformation about this product and company, along with a lot of paid sponsorships, so I was more than a little Leary at first, but upon installing it in the correct manner and using some common sense, I now love my car even more then I did before.

Ok folks....I have 2012 Hyundai I30 6 speed diesel with a Race chip box.... hell this car is a real beast ... my son’s friends made jokes about him driving an I30..... wiped the smile off their faces....beats the Mazda 3 and corollas .... on trips the consumption is very low ....also I30 GD auto....my wife drives it....took the chip out and
she abused the hell out of me...had to put the chip back in, has been in since May 2014. Best money ever spent on trying to improve an I30

I ordered the Race Chip GTS Black with the app for my Mercedes R231 ( SL400). The first unit had a bluetooth communication problem. Tech support sent me a return label and in a weeks time I had a new unit. The re-install was quick and I am pleased with the performance increase.

Absolute rubbish. Asked for ford focus st 15 plate fitting instructions so I could make sure I could fit myself and there was absolutely no chance of doing it. No way I could get to the bottom of the engine bay with my hand. I would have to take part of the engine apart. Don't even waste your time or money. They won't even acknowledge that you can't fit it without a lot of additional work.

Have the racechip rs for my i30n and the difference is incredible, it boosts alot hard and you actually get torque steer when under full load. The i30n should have this power stock in my opinion! Worth the cash

Purchased the ultimate for a previous car and they claim they offer one reprogram for free. I was over the 36 months by 1 month and they claim it is no longer programmable and I would have to buy a new chip. Robotic and generic responses with no compassion or genuine feel to deliver customer service. I wish I didn't waste my money, far better to get a remap done properly than waste money with these cowboys, rest assured I would never buy another product like this.

I bought a GTS race chip for my new 2019 Merc C63 Estate, the chip was originally returned to Germany as FEDEX had the wrong details, the chip finally arrived in Australia 4 weeks after my original order. The chip installation was very tricky on this model and really was well above a novice skill set in my opinion due to the loom connections, the chip itself works as described, its gave a significant increase in power and acceleration and I'm really pleased with it. I'd suggest getting the blue tooth option as its much easier to change the tune mode.

Got the Racechip GTS installed on my Mercedes C180 Cabriolet(A205). Makes a huge difference and definitely feels like the claimed 45hp gain. Gears shift smoothly and exactly at the right rpm. Highly recommend it!

2015 Jetta TDI SEL.. just installed the RS Chip.. After a few miles it correctly calibrated... A substantial increase of torque and HP.. DSG shifts faster and my engine idles like a purring kitty.. So far so good.. Going to LA in a few days from Phoenix. Will update the MPG when I return...

Bought one for my E61 525d , now it has more torque , changes gear less , uses less fuel on a normal drive and has buckets of power in race mode , no smoke and seems to run smoother .

The RaceChip definitely does not ad the power promised. Sure, you can feel an increase in power...sometimes. The power is irregular and the mapping isn’t smooth at all.
After contacting the RaceChip customer service, I sent the RaceChip back to have them check the software/hardware for any defects. I added the remark ”If you don’t find anything wrong, I will claim your 30-days return policy for a refund”.
Some time later I got the RaceChip back without any comments or explanation. Same thing, irregular power and definitely short of power.

I have owned numerous cars with
ecu-remapping, and the result has, by far, been better than the RaceChip.
So, my tip is to get a real ecu-remapping! Sure it costs a little bit more, but the value for money is, by far, superior...!!!

And today, May 7th, 4 months later, I got a reply from their customer service thru Trustpilot, asking me to get in touch. Impressive customer handling...NOT....

Appalling experience. Ordered a racechip after watching this, it arrived and on the same day I fitted it to my car. The racechip was not working and caused my EML light to come on. I contacted racechip immediately and they said they would send me a return label, however it took over a week of me repeatedly contacting them to finally get the return label as they kept sending emails with nothing attached, they claimed it was attached. I sent the item back and used the tracking number to see if it had arrived. It took them over a week after it arrived and more emails from me asking why they hadn't issued a refund for them to finally refund me. So the entire thing took nearly a month even though I contacted them on the day it was delivered to let them know it was not working. No apology from them for sending a faulty item that caused an EML or the excessive amount of time for the refund. I'm quite sure if I had not been calling and emailing every day, once I realised they were trying to fob me off that I would not have the refund. Very bad experience and I would not recommend them.
