Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 277 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many customers expressed significant dissatisfaction with the subscription model, finding that services initially perceived as free later required expensive annual payments. People frequently encountered issues with pricing transparency, noting that advertised monthly rates often turned into unexpected yearly charges, and that free trials quickly expired, deactivating their QR codes. Reviewers also reported problems with the payment process, including unexpected auto-renewals and difficulty canceling subscriptions. The website's information was often criticized for being unclear about trial periods and the necessity of paid subscriptions, leading to frustration when QR codes stopped working after printing. Many consumers felt the customer service was unhelpful when trying to resolve these issues.

QR CODES ARE NOT FREE

Quite simply, this company needs to be reported. Its actually quite frightening how they have got away with this for so long. Like many have said? Don't be lured into thinking you are downloading a free QR code...you're not! The system is clever enough to understand that you would have invested in marketing to promote you're QR code then BAM. You get an email saying Pay up otherwise you're QR code is useless

Scam disguised as "free QR codes"

When you go to make a QR code everything is shown to be free. There is no indication that money is involved in order to make a simple QR code. Their slogan is even "Create your QR code for free"...so you'd expect that to be the case. After downloading the QR code, adding it to stickers and paying to have them printed, it turns out the QR codes have basically been held for ransom. I can't use them unless I pay them well over $100 per year. After searching through their website, I found that the only way of creating a free QR code on their site is by making it a static QR code. But, how does one do this? There was no option that I could find to do that when I made my first QR code. This company is a scam. Thanks for reading my rant (:

Absolute Scam... Very hidden messages and not clear Free to create the code but when you sign up to the account 7 days later get a VERY CLEAR message saying your code is no longer readable. Absolute Scam... If you used this on printed material your code is then out in the world and not readable forcing you to pay a subscription.

Do not use QR-code-generator.com for QR codes! They charge you monthly fees to continue to keep them active! And they offer absolutely no human support - just some bot. Use Adobe Express especially if you use other Adobe products.

Avoid, avoid, avoid

Looks easy to use on the surface - nowhere does it make clear that any codes you generate are only available for 7 days and then you have to pay a MINIMUM of 133 Euros for an annual subscription. This will auto renew unless you cancel sharpish.

Please don't make the same mistake I did and generate codes for business cards meaning I had no choice but to subscribe.

It's basically a scam that you should go out of your way to avoid.

Cancelled subscription, took €184.50 anyway.

Originally went to this website as it said free QR codes. After I made the QR code it then made me pay for it to work. I signed up for a subscription, but I no longer needed it now so I cancelled before it was due for renewal. They've just taken €184.50 out of my account anyway today (more than I had originally paid for subscription), and there is no customer service whatsoever to talk to, just an Ai chatbot saying I cannot get a refund. Do not use this scam company.

Completely disappointed, it's a con

Completely disappointed. Read anything this set up says word by word with a pinch of salt. Create your QR code for free it said. We did, and put it on our Christmas concert poster. It seemed to work and we sent our posters out. It now no longer works and just directs users to the qr-code web site unless we take out a subscription.

Absolute scam. DO NOT USE

Unbelievable. Their scam is to prey on people trying to make a quick QR code for print outs, allow you to generate the codes for free, then force you to pay a subscription to be able to continue using the codes after the "trial period" ends. They do this by not actually having the QR code link directly to the desired site, but directs through their site. So then anyone who, say, prints out a bunch of flyers for their wedding, has their QR codes bricked unless you pay up. I will be reporting this company to the EU for fraud. Freaking greedy pieces of crap.

SCAM COMPANY - AVOID !!!!

I just got tricked by them today
Actually, I was scammed TWICE !!

My Invoice numbers are:
QRCGPRO-2602602
QRCGPRO-2580657

I have never needed to pay for a QR code before.
I ended up on their website TWICE in the same week and generated TWO codes.
I signed in with a different email address each time.. so I ended up with TWO QR accounts to generate TWO codes.
I printed 1000 Business cards, and 1000 brochures.
and now I have just found out it all expired!!!
I'm so upset because I had to subscribe TWICE !!! (one for each account).
What a sheer waste of money.
Even more annoying is that they ILLEGALLY don't have any contact details anywhere on their site.
If you ask their AI Chat Help, it clearly says that they dont give any contact details and have no customer service. and they only deal with problems with AI Chat. And their AI chatbot says they cant combine the QR code from the mistake account into my othper account, so I had to buy TWO subscriptions!
I will be re-printing my cards and brochures because I dont want to be on a forever subscription for TWO accounts!!
Also: They are being ILLEGAL:
It is a legal requirement for any company dealing with Europeam Sales to display a Contact detail.
When I searched the "Who is" details for thier website: qr-code-generator.com i can see it is registered to HAYES in the UK.
But the Receipt I received is from BITLY Germany.
So, even if they are under TWO company names, they are clearly in EUROPE, which legally means they need to give contact details.

I wish I knew somewhere to complain about them, but it takes so long time to find this info and fill out complaint forms.

DON'T USE qr-code-generator.com or BITLY !!!

You will get scammed, and you have no way to contact them.
They have many websites and addresses, so they are impossible to chase.

QR Code Creator

They are now trading as QR Code Creator.

This company will charge you a year’s subscription, when advertising a month and then claim they cannot refund you due to “terms” once you realise, they have taken the money.

The terms do not supersede your right for a full refund, if requested within the legally allotted timeframe, in the country of your residence.

In the UK you have a 14-day right to a full refund on any subscription service. Please check your local laws and regulations and ensure you get your refund and not be taken in by claims that their “terms” mean you cannot be refunded.

This is incorrect, and illegal in the UK and from what I have seen in other regions, such as the EU. This business is registered on the UK companies house, as well as the EU, and can be easily located and contacted for legal reasons.

See below my confirmation of a refund.

We’ve processed your payment return for €133.2 related to your recent transaction.
Your invoice and receipt are attached to this email for your records.
The funds have been sent back to your original payment method and will appear on your statement once your provider completes processing.
If there’s anything we can do to make things right or if you’d like to continue using our services, we’d be happy to help.
Thank you for giving us a try, and we hope to serve you again in the future.

A BIG SCAM

A BIG SCAM. I should never have used in the first place but now my account has auto-renewed. Their bot claims that they send out a reminder 30 days before. That isn't true - I've checked all folders. Any attempt to discuss is blocked by their bot. Total con. Do yourself a favour and don't go anywhere near this company

Scam

QR codes are NOT free on this website! Their site is very misleading. I created a QR code through this website and had it printed on invitations. Like many others, about five days later I received an email saying my "free trial period" was ending and I'd have to pay if I want the QR code to remain active. On top of that, the plans they offer are outrageously expensive, with the only non-annual option being $23 a month. Shame on whoever is running this company

Total scam. They make you pay for a "monthly" subscription, which is actually a yearly subscription. They are not honest about their marketing and their team was very dishonest with me when I reached out to cancel.

If you make a qr-code it is not for free!

If you make a qr-code, it is not clear that it is not for free. If you don’t pay a lot of money, they disable your qr-code. So my 250 business cards that I made with this code are useless. I refuse to pay. I’m a non profit photographer, so I hate this way of working.

Clearly a scam

Clearly a scam. As others have said, they display the monthly price and then charge you for the annual price. They only have an AI bot that claims to create a support ticket, but when pressed admits that there is no way to contact support via phone, chat or email. There is no confirmation of support ticket. When you go to the cancel subscription page, it takes you to the final page and the final cancel button doesn't actually do anything. Conveniently, the keep plan button works just fine. Having to go via my bank to get my money back.
