Very disappointed

Just visited Wenvoe restaurant and after about 1 hour wait and multiple tables served that were seated well after us, asked where our food was and apparently the “ticket” didn’t go through (yet somehow the drinks on the same ticket were delivered) once drinks were delivered the teapot didn’t even have a tea bag in it and had to ask for one. We were told we could have free drinks and the food would be done asap but others around us were also waiting 45 + minutes we didn’t believe it would be so chose to leave. Very disappointed.

Excellent service from Mike & Ian

Excellent service received from Mike & Ian on the purchase of a water feature, Both were very helpful and showed patients and efficiency, thank you both.
I have also bought numerous plants from Pugh's in the past.
I would highly recommend this company.

Extremely poor customer service…

After queuing for well over 15 minutes to order brunch at the Watering Can in Radyr, I finally got to the till at 11:30am. Their menus and signage all say brunch is served until 11:30am but I was told they’d already stopped serving brunch before 11:30am so I couldn’t have what I wanted. They also tried to say I hadn’t been queuing that long!! To not be served after spending so long in the queue was one thing but to be made out that I was a liar is another. The staff have an awful attitude, they clearly just don’t care, it’s terrible customer service. I would not recommend this place.

Precarious

Just visited the garden centre in Radyr with my elderly mum. Superb range of plants. However was alarmed at the condition of the outside area - the ground is so uneven in areas - almost like avoiding potholes! Very precarious in parts 😳

Cold and extremely overpriced cheaper in the Ivy

Cold and extremely overpriced, cheaper to eat in The Ivy.
Visited the Restaurant at Pughs, St Andrews Major. I have to say it was more like a Cafe than a restaurant. Quite a large room with a gorgeous log fire which was unlit, therefore it was a little chilly. The seats were hard, a bit like school chairs.

We were told there was a 45 minute wait for food and we did wait approximately 50-55 mins.

I ordered Eggs Benedict which was extremely disappointing, lots of ham which were chunks and not shredded ham, and so very difficult to cut through with a muffin. This was £14.00 in The Ivy it is £11.50!!! Ham, egg & chips were £15.00. Save your pennies if you plan on visiting you will need them, there won't be any change to buy some plants on the way out.

People have commented on rudeness of staff, however we had no issues at all.

The worst Christmas tree that I’ve…

The worst Christmas tree that I’ve bought in 49 years.

The trees are well presented outside and individually on spikes, so you can see how they look. Found a nice looking one that was plenty bushy and a nice shape, but when I got it home, cut the bottom inch off the trunk and watered daily it was losing needles immediately. By Christmas Day (less than 3 weeks later), anyone just walking past was enough to drop clouds of needles just from the gentle breeze. Getting it out of the house was an ordeal (today, Boxing Day) as the needles got everywhere.

And overpriced compared with elsewhere, so expected better. Back to Ikea next year…

Pugh's Garden Village offers a…

Pugh's Garden Village offers a delightful visit with lovely selections from garden essentials to tasty treats at their cafes. The staff, like John Lewis Evans and Sarah, are knowledgeable, friendly, and eager to assist, making every visit a pleasure. While there was a minor issue with the membership card not registering for rewards, the overall experience was positive and inviting. The center boasts a wide range of products and maintains a welcoming and relaxing atmosphere. Although some areas, like the service at The Works shop, might need improvement, it's certainly a place worth visiting again.

A wonderful experience at Pughs Garden Centre…

We visited Pughs Garden Centre once again today and was helped by John Lewis Evans. We visited about a week ago and he helped us then too. His advice and help is just wonderful and he spends as much time as is necessary to ensure we are purchasing what is appropriate for our needs. Nothing is too much for him. Thank you John. We will always seek you out when we visit.

The female serving at The Works shop…

The female serving at The Works shop within Pugh’s Garden Centre Wenvoe, was very miserable and not child friendly, considering the vast amount of products for sale are for children!!!!! Will not be spending there ever again as, I have noticed her demeanour is the same on most visits. Visit 15th June 24 (pm).

Good food but too expensive to return often

Visited the cafe today. We ordered Cawl, there were no baguettes available, so substituted bread. The service was good and the Cawl was very nice but at £14 a portion, I felt it was very expensive. Almost changed my mind and chose soup instead but soup was £8. Would love to visit regularly but prices are far too expensive for me.

Fish health

I bought 5 neon tetras and 5 rummy nose tetras from the aquatic shop situated in Pugh’s Garden Centre, Radyr last Monday afternoon. By Sunday morning not only had they all died but my existing neons and rummy nose tetras that I’ve had for 6 yrs died too. Luckily my 21yr old Pleco and 10yr old Pakistani loach appear unaffected. I’ve been keeping fish for 57yrs and only once before has this happened. On both occasions I neglected to incubate the new fish for the usual 3weeks. I did ask the sales person how long they’d had them and did they need incubating but was told it wasn’t necessary. Foolishly I accepted this. It was an expensive decision and I should have known better but I do wonder how experienced their fish keepers are. I re checked the water quality and it was still neutral which should have been fine. I have a large 5ft tank and do regular partial water changes as a matter of course. The overall health of my tank and fish is important to me so I will not be making the same mistake nor will I be buying stock from here again.

Visited Pugh’s garden centre for breakfast in their cafe, they run out of breakfast just before we got to the till after queuing for 10mins. Decided to just have toast that was half bread and half burnt toast. Very poor and unorganised.
The car park is rammed and getting out of there is an enormous chore.

I genuinely like coming to the garden…

I genuinely like coming to the Radar Pugh’s garden centre but today I bought a coffee in the food hall - the price for a flat white £3:30 but the size is smaller than a regular size anywhere else I go - the price paid for a large in other places visited and I feel I have to raise this - quite disappointed really

£8 Leek & potatoe soup & half a baquett!

£8 Leek & potatoe soup & half a baguette!
Never though the food at Pughs, Morganstown to be good value but last week to pay £16 for 2 luke warm leek & potatoe soups, served with half of a baguett each, proved to be the worst value to date.
I did ask for them to be heated up, which was done. They were returned with a skin on the top along with a comment " hope you don't burn your mouths"!
Sorry Pughs that has ended any chance of eating here again .
