Extremely disappointing experience

Very disappointing experience. After discussing all details on whatsapp, Barry suggests a price which i accept. He requests advanced payment, and i pay duly. On the morning of the appointment, Barry tells us he wont do powerlush because the boiler isnt working properly and walks away.
After having the boiler checked by an engineer who changed the pressure gauge that has been stuck and confirmed that the boiler is working fine and there was no reason not having powerfush performed, i called Barry to return and do the job agreed or return the deposit.
But then Barry arrogantly states he is stopping £150 from the deposit to cover the fuel for his first visit.
Apparently he`s based in Ashford and costs him a lot to come to London. I find it disgraceful because :
1) he was the one who walked away and decided not to do powerflush as agreed
2) he never mentioned call out prices at all. We never discussed the cost in event he decides not to the job
3) I am based in central London and made it clear i was looking for a local company. Barry didn't indicate at all that he is actually based in Ashford

He has some good reviews but i would strongly advise you to opt for a proper company with real reviews, transparent pricing and local to you.

I also didnt like the unprofessional and intimidating way he communicates.

response- Perhaps it was my fault that i paid in advance when i could have simply attended the appointment and pay at spot. Lesson learnt! Piece of advise to future clients - Do discuss all potential and hidden charges and avoid making advanced payments at any cost.

In response to your review. I am disappointed but not surprised. May I give you a piece of advice you stated that your partner is a solicitor, I would suggest that before you write any more reviews you take legal advice as other companies may pursue legal action against your untrue accusations. To deal with your statements we did not suggest a price. We gave you an actual price which we do with all our customers. Being you are a landlord you was informed that full payment must be done prior to work being carried out as you won’t be there.
You only made a part payment before the date and it was so late in the day that in good faith I attended your property. In all I was there for over an hour informed yourself and your tenant that the PF could not be carried out until the boiler was repaired. We would then arranged to reschedule after the repairs.
You stated the engineer did come to the property and carried a number of repairs ( WhatsApp messages on the 15/8/23). You then called me to rearrange the PF to be done. You was informed that there would be an additional charge of £150 added to the cost for a cancelled day.
You then decided to cancel the PF and asked for your money back. Which was paid to yourself less the £150.00.
If you disagree with this statement we will be only to pleased to publish your WhatsApp messages from yourself to me.Thank you.

ABOVE AND BEYOND

NOTHING TOO MUCH TROUBLE.
CLEAN AND TIDY WORK
GENUINE IN APPROACH AND WENT TO GREAT LENGTHS TO ENSURE BOILER WOULD FUNCTION CORRECTLY.
HOW REFRESHING TO FIND SOMEONE WITH SUCH A DESIRE TO ENSURE CUSTOMER SATISFACTION

Barry the Powerflush engineer was…

Barry the Powerflush engineer was professional and helpful
He explained the process involved ,and it was evident by the black colour discharged that the radiators did need flushing out
Our house was left clean and tidy after he completed activity

Dear mr RU Kanini, I believe you have got the wrong company for your review .
Firstly you state that the power flush was done on 17/2/23then you state that it was done on the 17/2/22. You said you spoke to a female at our office which is impossible as we do not have any female employees. Had you contacted us we would have taken your phone number and Barry Nichols would have contacted you direct. All customers are give a unique reference number which we would have cross referenced with our database and if found and checked we would have informed you that we would have taken a water sample from your system which would have been tested by an independent company ( fernox) had it been found that your system had failed the test. We would have re done the POWERFLUSH free of charge but had we have found that the test had passed you would have been billed for the call out and the water test.
We except that people make mistakes and would accept an apology off of you and the removal of this review. Failure to do so will leave us no alternative but to take legal action against you.
This also applies to trust pilot as we believe that they should have checked the validity of this claim before posting it.

What a service

What a service? Excellent, amazing and of high quality. Barry Nichols is a hugely knowledgeable plumbing engineer who possesses a vast amount of knowledge. The best ever tradesman I have had the honour of interacting with. Barry's information, advice and guidance about the power flush process plus extras was by far second to none. Barry is a very personable and likeable chap. I am very glad to state that I am a very satisfied customer, one of over 4000 Barry looks after diligently.

Fast response, efficient and successful service.

They helped by fitting in a fast and urgent powerflush for me to fit in with the time the boiler fitters had available. That meant my broken down boiler could be replaced only 2 days before the really cold weather of heavy frost and snow shortly before Christmas. As an older person living alone it was was a great relief to be able to fit this in. Milto, the man who did the work was efficient, pleasant, and informative and reduced my stress.

Excellent Service

Barry was an absolute star. Carried out the powerflush quickly and efficiently. Gave lots of useful advice and identified faults with the boiler that had been missed by the boiler service engineer.

Bad experience

My central heating system started failing pretty much immediately after the engineer (Barry) completed the powerflush, took payment and left. I rang him directly but he wouldn't return to help me fix the problem, saying that he knew less about my boiler than I did. He later rang briefly with some advice that got the boiler back to life temporarily before failing again. I got no response to calls to the engineer the next day and so requested compensation in lieu of help. This resulted in a 'see you in court' phone message and later an assertion that it was 'my boiler, my responsibility'. I really would have hoped for a better response given the poor 'customer outcome'.

In terms of the advice I received during the day, although some of Barry's advice made sense and was useful, other advice seemed questionable to me and in conflict with the current trend towards reducing CH output temperatures in order to optimise the efficiency of condensing boilers like mine (see for example theheatinghub.co.uk/). At a certain point in discussions Barry would add weight to his arguments by referring to his fifty plus years in the business, which is fair enough but made me wonder whether perhaps Barry had been left behind by current thinking.

For the attention of Mr James Bedford Robe ( 61yrs) Jackson Rd Highbury.
Dear sir we usually respond with an apology if the customer is unhappy with our work and try too facilitate them. in your case I am unwilling to do so for these reasons.
Firstly I believe that if someone has a grievance they should provide all the facts relevant to the problem not just pick the ones that suit them.
In my opinion this is the same as lying.
With various aspects that was wrong with your system it was explained to you that there was a chance that your pump would fail after the Powerflush.
As far as I’m concerned we achieved what was required with the Power flush.
Both you and your friend remarked on that you had never know the radiators to reach that temperature.
On completion you where presented with an invoice which clearly states not to sign if you where unhappy with the work done. You was also asked to sign again for various points that where had been pointed out to you.
40 minutes after I left your home, I received a call from yourself demanding that I returned as the central heating was now not working. I refused to return then but offered to return the following day after I had completed another job. 30 minutes later I called you and you informed me that you had removed the casing of the boiler you told me that the pump was running hot. I advised you to bleed the pump and the whole system started working again. I also advised you that the pump would need replacing. I returned home and did not hear from you again that evening.
The following day I was unable to respond To your calls. you then left 2 voicemail, which I found quite offensive.
The next day I responded to your voicemails and received a call from you later asking me to compensate you for your pump. I refused and you cut my call off.
Next thing I received was your response on trust pilot. I was shocked that you felt you where entitled to question my professionalism because of my age. I would expect this from a child who was not getting there own way not from someone who believed they knew better.

The name says it all

Excellent professional service...replied quickly to my email, booked me in short notice. I am ecstatic after experiencing problems for over a year, had a serious blockage the radiators at the front of my property were not working at all and now my home is finally toasty (I was grinning like a cheshire cat all evening)

Barry was sat outside before 08:00, he explained the procedure, it was apparent from the way Barry worked that the previous powerflush carried out a few years ago wasn't done correctly, I was shown the crud being flushed from my system.

Barry was also respectful of my property he bought along his slippers for when he was inside, showed due diligence throughout the day he also has a good sense of humour.
I cannot recommend this company enough...many many thanks Barry.

What Barry didn't know about this business isn't worth knowing, if your looking at getting a powerflush just fill in the online quote & let him do what he does, say thank you & pay him.

Barry was the ultimate professional

Barry was the ultimate knowledgeable professional and managed to resurrect most of our system. We were left with a couple of radiators that we had a feeling were not going to be fixed by the flush anyway. Arrived on time and provided lots of valuable information throughout the day and he was non stop all day trying his best. Thank you Barry much appreciated.

Highly Recommended!! Excellent Job done

Barry arrived 8am prompt as agreed. He was so professional, friendly with a great sense of humour. He started work straight away without any waste of time. He Powerflushed my radiator system within 6 hours. He tidied up and left every where spotlessly clean.
The job was excellently done beyond my expectation, in a very competitive price. I wouldn’t go anywhere else.
My hot water and radiators all working perfectly well.
I highly recommend Barry (Powerflush Know-it-all).

Powerflush - Amazing!

Powerflush were so professional, knowledgable, honest and friendly too. I know that should be expected, but it isn't always the case

Powerflush inspected my heating system and advised that I didn't need a Power Flush. You really don't get that level of honesty every day!

Even more amazing, Powerflush didnt want to charge me for coming out, inspecting my heating system, fixing something very small and giving me great advice (heating hints and tips)...again rare and so kind

Thank you so much Powerflush, I would definitely recommend you to anyone

Terrific service, don't bother to call anyone else

If you need to flush your central heating system and you live in Kent - there's only one company to contact, Powerflush Know-It-All just call 0800 3892767. I contacted Barry Nichols, the Powerflush engineer after getting a quote for over £900. Barry explained the process over the phone and gave me a quote for less than half that sum. It took him less than a day to do everything, he is knowledgeable, skilful and friendly. He also didn't leave any mess.

We had a problem with our boiler

We had a problem with our boiler , was told we had a blockage and needed to have it powerflushed, was recommended this company. Great choice from the booking which was easy the quick response. He turned up on time worked hard explained every thing well he fixed that problem and picked up another one we had . He was polite and knowligable we are very happy with the service.

I totally agree with all the other…

I totally agree with all the other comments on the other reviews.
Barry arrived promptly at 8 and did the job efficiently and professionally.
He told us tips for efficiency.
For the first time in a long while the heating is working brilliantly. The boiler is quieter and healthier sounding.
The extra add on radiator had never worked very well but is now blazing hot.
Thoroughly recommend him.
Reasonable rates too.
